The fact the golden retriever didn't react being taken away by strangers shows how much he trusts humans, even strangers which can be both a good thing or a bad thing for the dog, depends on whether the person is good or bad.
@@CJ-bb3yv I can believe that if I had a goldy, it would probably greet my robbers, open the door, let them take whatever they wanted and sent them off with tea, cookies and a hug. Heck, might even get in the car with them in case they felt lonely!

Happened to my Dad with his black lab Bart, a country dog. Dad brought home who he thought was Bart and had him for 2 days. Bart was acting weird. Crying at night, wouldn’t follow my Dad on his ATV, wouldn’t catch popcorn when my Dad threw it in the air and was pooping in the middle of the yard, Bart always went into the bush to do his business. On the other end, the Judge found it weird when he picked up his Elwood, a town dog, from the kennel and instead of hopping into his pet crate in the back of the Infiniti he climbed up front to the passenger seat… the Judge told my Dad that for a day Elwood was constantly crying at the door to go out, which he never did before. Wasn’t until the Judge’s son came home and was playing on the floor with the dog and petting him and said, “Dad, this isn’t Elwood… looks like him but it’s not him.” The kennel phoned my Dad and asked if his dog had been behaving differently since coming home… my Dad said, “Definitely!”. They explained that they feared the dogs had been switched by accident. My Dad asked, what’s the dog’s name? And they told him. Dad yelled out “Elwood!” And the dog jumped up and started wagging his tail, lol! My Dad and the Judge met back at the kennel where the staff couldn’t stop apologizing… the dogs met nose to nose and by all accounts were in fact identical. My Dad and the Judge had some laughs telling their stories about the weird behaviour of their respective dogs. Often told my Dad he should write a kids book about it or something 😂
My father in law did this once. Picked the dog up from doggy day care and it was the wrong dog. He brought “her” in the house and my mother in law was like “what the hell is wrong with you, that’s not Ruby!” 😂😂
@tessdurbervill711 - I disagree. It's much better for a dog to be loved by his people in the mornings, evenings, nights and all week-end long, and to be taken well care of at a good doggie daycare where he can play with his doggie buddies, than it is for the poor dog to be stuck in a cage at an animal shelter with no one to love him. A dog would choose a loving home and doggie daycare over a shelter any day!!

I had a strange moment years ago after losing my dog in '18. It was a definite hardship. There was this lady out walking her dog. It's not something I normally would have done, but I explained I'd just lost my dog, which happened to look a lot like hers, and could I please borrow her dog for a minute. I gave him a hug and just let it all out. It was one of the most healing experiences I've ever had. I'm grateful I had that last chance to say goodbye and that the woman was willing to fulfill such an unusual request!
I’m so sorry for your loss in my lifetime I have lost several and I would feel and react the same way you did. I’m glad that you came across the woman and her dog and that the experience helped you.
The Cats were immediately like “WHAT THE F IS THIS?? Who is this stranger you have brought into our domicile??” That poor dog was probably so confused, yet curious. He thought he was getting a free car ride and the next thing he knew he was getting clawed and hissed at.
I almost did the same thing while picking my orange cat after he was being hospitalised in a vet clinic. There was a line up of about 3-4 almost identical orange cats, and the first one purred and responded to me nicely I thought it was my cat and almost brought him home. 😂 My cat was the last on the line up, looking thoroughly unimpressed. 😂
Remember cats act as per their moods Does not mean they will always welcome you with happy face like a dog, even if they are in a bad mood They will act ignorant if they are annoyed by your certain act
We had two orange cats, and both had dopplegangers in next street. Well our male cat and his doppleganger fought and once I found them on our steps-meowing as hell(so I went to look), opened the door and if one didn't dart home and other run away, I'd not be able to tell which one was ours. So similiar were they. Our female cat took it to next level. For several months the other family had no idea they are feeding extra cat...(she ate at home too!)

The EXACT same thing happened to me. My golden was taken home by another family by mistake of the daycare staff and they only realized it when I came to pick up my dog and they only had that the other family’s dog. Apparently my golden was having a ball at her ‘new’ home.
That's what was missing from this story. What happened when the other family came to pick up their dog? Did they instantly know that it wasn't their dog or did they take Emme home with them and didn't know until contacted?
My dog jumó and hug me and sometimes pull me dow only when I leave he for a few hours day care at the pet sitter ! Plus I speak Italian, Spanish and a bit of English to he lol.

@@MrSymBooat the doggy daycare where I used to take my dog, they would remove the collars so the dogs wouldn't get hurt while playing together (teeth or claws can get caught in buckles).
@@oldauntzibby4395I work at one too, and we also recently started with the no collars. Weird thing is though, they still let some dogs have their collars on. And not like “oh well we only let dogs with no dangerous things on their collar to have it on” like no, I had to pry out two pieces of plastic with my hands that a tiny dog was eating and would’ve choked on. And the dogs still roughhouse and have collars on. Like 75% of dogs have no collars, and then 25% do. It’s odd. I just wish they all had collars on so it’s easier to grab them if needed. Now you just have to do it by the scruff which is harder, and definitely more dangerous if you need to haul em off to time out for misbehaving with the other dogs, and you can’t keep a grip on them. And God forbid they get into a fight, a collar is a must have for safely getting them to release their bite.
Someone accidentally took my dog home with them at my dog’s daycare. I went to pick her up and she wasn’t there. So scary. It was an elderly woman who couldn’t tell one goldendoodle apart from another, I guess 😂😂😂😂 My dog loves old people and happily went home with her. The woman figured it out when my dog jumped on the couch (her dog isn’t allowed on the couch, my dog runs the damn household 🤣). She was returned to the daycare and when we were reunited she cried like she’d been to war.
This happened to my sister. She had a golden retriever puppy and there was one at the daycare that was the same age and gender and looked almost exactly like my sister's. My german shepherd was growling at the unknown puppy on the car ride home (he had never growled at her before, but we thought he was just tired and grumpy from daycare) and my sister noticed that the color of the dog's nails were different. I came home from walking my kids to school and found my Maltese, Gizmo, in the neighbors yard. I yelled at him to come over, picked him up, took him inside…and found the real Gizmo. I swear to you, these dogs were identical. Gizmo (the real one) was not amused. The fake one could not have cared less. I put the fake one in the backyard and walked to my front yard to try to figure out whose dog I had stolen. Sure enough, a lady came walking down the street, looking for her dog. I felt so disconcerted that I had so easily been convinced it was mine!
Did the other family not notice they had the wrong dog as well? Fun story: Went to a house party where everyone was required to take off their shoes. When I was leaving I put on what I thought was my shoes but from the time I walked a few steps I knew something was off but couldn't figure it out. After staring for a while I realized it wasn't my shoes. It was the exact same shoes, brand, style, size and color but not mine. I've taken home the wrong dog before too, this family had the exact same white lab like mine. Since Labs are so chill, I didn't notice it wasn't my dog. If it wasn't for the family calling my vet and calling me because they fed him chicken (he's allergic), I'd have live the rest of my life with this dog. Bingo I mean this would take two families to both not realize they had someone else's dog?! Was the other dog being boarded for a longer length of time did this all happen in a matter of hours before the other dog got picked up? I mean come on news, what happened with the other dog?

Yep happen to me with our chocolate lab. As I was bringing her to the car to go home my 10 year old daughter started yelling from the car "that's not Coco" . We went back inside and sure nuff that was Coco identical twin😂 I am embarrassed I didn't notice 😊
@@xrrrismickey I asked the same question because both dogs had the white patch of hair on the chest. My daughter said she could tell because our dog is chubby and something with tail not the same as our dog
Believe it or not, this happened with my sister's dog, a black lab. Her husband mistakenly brought another dog home from their dog's daycare. Labs are another one of those famously friendly breeds, so when the daycare staff accidentally brought out the wrong dog to him - another female black lab about the same size and age - in the pickup area, she happily hopped right into the back seat. The staff member buckled her in so he didn't notice any difference from the front. He didn't realize the error until her got her home and noticed she was behaving strangely in the unfamiliar house and was wearing a different collar.😂
There was a story some years ago of a vet's office that had THREE identical black lab patients. Two in particular they kept mixing up with their owners. The problem was that one of the labs *really* liked one of the other families (maybe as he was from a one person household and the other family had a bunch of kids) and so he'd be super excited to see that family come in.
The family’s own dog was prob thinking, hey, why don’t we switch it up every now and again so I can have a nice vacay and you can play with the humans. lol.
This happens more often than people realize. Every grooming salon and doggy daycare has at some point sent the wrong dog home with the wrong owner. lol
I almost took the wrong Westie home. The doggie daycare handed this other dog to me and I thought Linus looks smaller than I thought he was plus this Westie was happy to go home. Linus is usually not happy to leave daycare. So I led the dog to the car, put it in the basket, and my husband said “this is the wrong dog!” I took the dog back in to the day care and I told them they gave me the wrong dog. They said “Oliver! This could have been a disaster!” Then they brought Linus out to me who was not as happy as Oliver to go home
Happened to us too...my husband mistakenly brought home a look-alike doggy from the daycare but realized something was wrong when that little thing refused to get out of the car, just sat on the back seat staring at him. He immediately took the pup back to the daycare and brought our puppy home😀
This reminds me of the Grandpa who took the wrong kindergarten home! She was wearing a mask, and didn’t say anything about being picked up by a stranger. Crazy!
I think the funniest part of this story is the cats' resactions! I think if they hadn't got a haircut that day, it wouldn't have happened. You almost expect your animal to look different immediately after.
Another funny part of this story - the look on the "furry imposters" face in the picture with the "original" furry lol Come up with a caption on what the dog is saying / thinking someone please ! (It's the dog w/o the harness! Once you see the pic you'll know which one im talking about from the look on his face lol)
This cracks me up because I KNOW my Schnauzer would NEVER go with someone else and there's no mistaking her cute little attitude problem! She's my love! ♥️
My son brought home a white kitten that he thought was one of our litter because it looked just like the other all white kittens; they were Turkish Angora mixes. Believe me, the other kittens backed the newcomer into a corner and surrounded the poor kitten. When I got home, I realized we had one too many. It was a neighbor’s new kitten. Believe me, cats always know who’s theirs!
Twice, with the same dog no less, people have said that my dog was actually theirs. After witnessing the extreme affinity and obedience toward me, they awkwardly realized that the dog was, in fact, mine.
I used to work in a doggie daycare and this happens from time to time. Sometimes a new staff member will get the names mixed up and bring out the wrong dog when the owner comes to pick them up. Usually at least one of the families notice before they get home. I’ve never heard of it getting this far before 😂
I had the same thing happen with a couple stray cats. This feral cat kept scratching our front door and one day I let him in. He came in and out several times for about a week. Then one time he was in the house, we heard scratching at the door and it was another cat that looked just like him! It turns out they were both doing that, but I never saw them together until that moment. 🤣
This happened at the kennel I worked at. There was a group of cream retriever owners who used to bring their dogs all on the same day for daycare and more than once the other kennel techs got them confused. The owners did not leave their collars on so it was easy to get them mixed up. Fortunately the couple of times there was a mix up they figured it out amongst themselves who had whose dog. I color coded all the dogs that looked the same (so many Frenchies, Golden Doodles, Labradoodles all the same size and color) with paper wrist bands attached to their collars and put up a cheat sheet on the board. It happens😂
Something similar almost happened to me once with my cat, but I realized almost immediately. lol It was nighttime and I had just gotten home, and my cat likes to sit in a certain spot in our lawn and greet people when they walk by. I saw him sitting in his spot like normal, but it was dark and I couldn’t see him too well. I thought he had been rolling in dust or dirt though, his fur looked lighter. I went to go pet him and say hi to him, but when he got scared and took off running, I immediately knew it wasn’t him! It turns out it was actually a grey cat and not a black cat, and as he ran away, my actual cat jumped out of the bushes and started chasing him. I guess that must have been a nice spot in the grass!

Believe it or not, this happened with my sister's dog, a black lab. Her husband mistakenly brought another dog home from their dog's daycare.

They are photographs. My dogs look different in different photos/poses/lighting. So literal...
@@FVWhimsy2010 faces don't look the same
This happened at the kennel I worked at. It happens😂
Something similar almost happened to me once with my cat, but I realized almost immediately. lol
It was nighttime and I had just gotten home, and my cat likes to sit in a certain spot in our lawn and greet people when they walk by.
I guess that must have been a nice spot in the grass!
hey there I came across your comment and I just had to reach out and say hi. Your perspective really caught my attention and I would love to get to know you better. Would you be interested in chatting sometime? Looking forward to hear back from you!
They’re definitely both very socialized dogs used to different people and various changes in their daily life amazing!
I have eight dogs and among them the only one that I could think of who would be willing to go with a stranger is Oliver, he’s a kind of bloodhound mix we’ve had him for several years he was abandoned by a hunter and we rescued him He loves people and is always very happy even to meet strangers
Reading y’all’s imposter stories got me dying yo 🤣🤣 Shit really made my day just glad everyone has they fur babies 💓😭‼️
Cats: "ayo this ain't my Emmie"
Golden Retrievers are like by default so loveable towards you 😂 I wouldn’t doubt any retrievers wouldn’t want to cuddle up to you.
