So it's not really clear to me from this video...where do these sit relative to the Trailmax Mission tyres? I thought they were meant to be a 50/50 tyre that's great on the road as well?
That's a bit simplified. I'll expand on that to say that in order for this Raid tire to perform the way it does the compounds have to be softer. The Mission will have MUCH longer millage to them. Some ADV riders do huge tours. The Mission and Scout etc then become excellent choices. If you can afford to change the tires more frequently or do small millage, softer tires are always almost always the way to go.
Hi: I am having Dunlop Raid installed on my 2023 Honda CRF 150 L. I ruined the knobby tires that came on the CRF by driving mostly on pavement. I do not do much trail riding now, mostly riding paved winding steep mountain roads, very sharp corners. I have high hopes that the performance will be better, especially in the rain. Wish me luck on that. I am now 70.
Good review...I've done about two hundred miles on these tyres on my T7 and they are great! If their wet weather grip is as good as they say i will be very happy!! Cheers Steve
@@martinfretwell Definitely better off road..miles better. And they seem to be pretty equal to the Pirelli's on road...in the wet too, which is impressive for a 50/50 tyre. Cheers Steve
Really looking forward to hearing how long these are going to last on the road, specifically on a 1290 or similar. Skipped on ordering these for the moment for monetary reasons and wanting a more off-road tyre so I went for the Anakee Wild, but these or the Missions are definitely on the scope for me next summer.
I have a set of the Trailmax Missions on my Ktm 690 enduro r. I use the bike to commute to work a lot and was burning through the rear knobby tires real quick on the road. The mission tire has already lasted much longer than the knobby tires did. They do good on everything but mud for me. I hate mud anyway so I do my best to avoid it. How much smoother they are on the road was a great trade off though
Dunlop's have been my favourite tyres for my Gixer 600 & 750 and my R6, so when I wear out these Pirelli's on my Ducati Multistrada, I'll be fitting these
Did you get any instability at higher speeds? With a 2011 GS Adventure fully loaded with metal panniers and camping gear, I found that at 70mph they felt very light on the front tyre, and quite a bit of wobble on the bars, feels like it’s on the cusp of a tank slapped. Got much worse when they got hotter, like when riding on concrete road surface rather than tarmac. I’ve since tried them unloaded, and they feel better, but still a little unstable at 70mph. I am using BMW recommended tyre pressures, I’ll try playing around with them to see if I can improve them. Apart from motorway speeds the tyres feel great everywhere else, and feel great on dusty / gravelly trails
@@gregbaldwin9460 when I saw the press releases dunlop was indeed calling them 50/50. After jornalists and reviews dismissed them as such they "renamed" their offroad specs. After trying them myself, i agree with their decision. My next set of hoops will be these raids, once my tourance are worn out 👌
@@zero_grip_gs I’m pretty happy with the Missions on road, and off road. I mostly come across Rick, gravel, and packed dirt. The little mud I have seen on them are squirrely
Dunlop web sight says that the RAID is a 40/60 tire. This review says otherwise, I'll go by what Dunlop says it is. I have Trail Max Mission tires on my 1290 S and they are noted by Dunlop as a 50/50 tire. Just completed several sections of the TAT in June with the Missions and they worked great. What is the expected mileage we can expect from the RAID?
Good review. It seems to me that the new Dunlop tyre will be a winner. People that know Chris Moss will be aware that he doesn’t give praise lightly.

The mission is a bit more road focus than the raid

Great interview and discussion. Thanks.
Would like to see them in some muddy conditions.
Thanks for the review. I ride an Aprilia Tuareg, so your experience on the T7 is as good as if you were riding my scooter.

Are they better than the pirelli scorpions

Great review! Were these TL tyres being used with inner tubes on the standard Tenere rims or were the rims converted to Tubeless?...........
i Just bought these tyres. I have a KLR 650 2023, do you recommend use tubes with? I dont know if my rim is for tubeless
I'm sold. Gonna order some for my 890R
What is the said milage on a tyre? I know the dunlop trailmax mission is around 8000km
I have a set in the mail. I loved the Missions but they are unobtainium these days. Going to give these a go.
Can you put these on a husqvarna 701 ENDURO LR
this will be my next tire on my V-Strom 800
How do they handle wet tarmac
I'm sold! No to find an adventure bike to put them on 😅
I’m confused… these sound pretty much the same as the missions but less weight. Am I missing something?
The tm mission are not 50/50
@@zero_grip_gs every place I have seen them they are rated as 50/50
Take that back. Dunlop calls the missions 60/40 and the raid 40/60.

Enjoyed your review from California. Will try next replace Anakee Wild, I need 50/50 tire

You desperately needed it because the trailmax mission is so crap.
