"correctly" is a rather cold & surgical way to put it. More so in a way that is meaningful and poetic and drives home a point about our own realities. It's a very rare literary event when violence is portrayed in such a complex and unique way.
While the story of Happy Sugar Life was supposed to be a hey look, look again type narrative about some beautiful woman being secretly crazy, yeah no. Blood Meridian was look you're friend is dying but oh no look the serial killer scalper is still chasing you and he's trying to make you apart of his cult.

Always nice to see more people getting put onto Nagabe's work. I remember following him on Tumblr over a decade ago and being absolutely enchanted by the sketches he'd post of two characters, a little girl and her monstrous-looking yet gentle guardian, and it's been wild to see those sketches turn into The Girl from the Other Side.
Blood Meridian is one of the greatest books ever written its in my top 3 of all time easily I've read it once and listened to the audiobook twice it's brutal but Mccarthy has such a poetic way of describing even the most violent of scenes so I actually loved reading/listening to it even though the violence in it is hard to fathom at times I'm glad you enjoyed and found value in the book dude.

You finally covered Space Brothers 😭 Check out Gundam: The Origin. Its the best way to start the franchise if you prefer manga Edit: I find it interesting that you found the beginning slow. The Astronaut exam, and Hibito Mission arcs were some of my favourite parts of the story. And the anime versions of them always kept me on the edge of my seat
Gannibal is getting a season 2 on Hulu, and the way things are going it *should* cover the rest of the story. Still sucks how much is untranslated, but kino all the same.
I know it probably won't be high on the list, but I recommend Distant Sky. I started reading it on webtoons, and the story and art kept me reading till my phone battery died. It's horribly tragic but I love it.
If regular ass books are on the table, I would like to recommend The Immortal Hulk as a read. Its an excellent award winning run on Hulk, leaning heavily into horror (specifically body horror) tropes, and it might completely change how you perceive the character, ESPECIALLY if your only exposure to him is movie adaptations.

Great vid! Love to see more people appreciating Psyren, especially since little else the author has made has really taken off. If you're up for another novel recommendation - The Dispossessed by Ursula K Le Guin: Twin planets, one like our own filled with nations at war, constantly striving for riches and extravagance, the other is a recently terraformed offshoot that holds a commune of Anarcho-Syndicalists. The story follows a scientist from the B planet trying to get his new space-time theories recognised by visiting the planet A. The chapters alternate between his time on planet A, meeting all the people there and the culture shock of it all and chapters about life growing up in a commune and what leads to him needing to visit planet A against the principles of where he grew up.
If we are going by recommendations that "totally aren't out of an Iceberg boy", may I recommend a small horror story known as Borrasca? Also as always, great video, haven't realized that I wasn't subbed to your channel since most of the time the automatic playlist would recommend you and I would enjoy your content while doing daily stuff.
If you liked Yamada and Kase-san, I highly recommend Bloom Into You. The manga is more realistic, especially at portraying themes of self-hatred, loss, wearing masks, and what it means to love someone. There's also some asexual/aromantic representation, which is something that's so rare to find in media at all.
I remember watching Mask’s video about how he started to learn more about art and that made him want to make his videos more artistic. I love seeing how he has gotten so much better and all the videos show how much love and effort has been put into them.
Forgotten Ruins is a series I HIGHLY recommend! It is a fascinating sci-fi fantasy story that brings out such interesting stories and heavy topics whilst also addressing how some Army Rangers would take out the Dark Lord and a Dragon. My favorite thing about this series is its characters and how they grow or change through the book and how they impact the main character. So basically this series is a what if Army Rangers were teleported into the DnD universe or a form of it. My favorite line from this whole series is this, "'You're good here?' I whispered finally. He nodded" I refuse to explain anything about this line, but it is so impactful from the story and from the lesson it tries to teach and show. The whole chapter covering this just throws me back into the same state I felt the first time I read it no matter how many times I reread it. Again it is a incredible series and I recommend it full heartedly!

Ahh, invisible dragon. The greatest of 7 forbidden novels. After reading it, my taste in books changed, I understood what I have been reading before was mass produced trash. This is what a novel is like, This is how you gain enlightenment. Truly a masterpiece.
I literally bought “Blood Meridian” and began reading it months ago but could never finish it, but after seeing your ranking, I think it’s my time to pick it back up!
I don't like ecchi but interspecies reviewers is one that I really enjoyed reading. Just seeing how they rate different species was quite fun and I was a little bit interested in how it builds its world. But since it's an ecchi you know where the focus is.
Same, unironically is one of the few series where the author doesn't shy away when comes to sex and fetish, it doesn't try to judge the characters for it also. I find it funny when reviewers call it trash because of the topics it discusses on.
"What do you wish for with those Murky eyes? Record of Highserk War". There is a manga if this, but it's barely out (16 chaptes) so I recommend web-novel if you will like it. And yes, it is Isekai... I know I know, but hear me out. Reincarnaited into medieval fantasy world where there is ongoing total war on the continent + magic. Lot of strategy, relationships, representation of medieval times, but also fantasy stuff, like monsters, dungeons and guilds, but that doesn't matter much at the start. Story show interesting way of a human slowly just destroying his morales in this war. Yeah, MC has some sort of OP power, but it's many times just dooms later on.
I loved the first few chapters I read of Gannibal, but it only had 13 chapters when I read it so I put it to the side. I do hope it gets fully translated at some point.
God damn! That is a very interesting and unique visual and editing style I became very confused at the beginning due to this retro game style, nevertheless, pretty sick!
Damn dude, thank you so much for this. I live to experience these great stories, can't wait to read some of these. Will start with The Girl from the other side
"Explores what is at the core of the human soul and what allows it to survive and find purpose... and that's love. " Me, loveless: guess I'm not human.
I SUPER heavily recommend Gundam: The Origin, a standalone remake of the original gundam heavily inspired by historical mangas or European war comics, its god tier
Gannibal is getting an official English release this year by Ablaze. They had a kickstarter recently for hardcovers (paperback will be sold regularly). I’m a bit scared for the translation though since Ablaze hired a company that does AI translation for Centaurs, and it ended up horrible. Hopefully they don’t for this release.
If you're alright with visual novels (you should be considering you've read The House in Fata Morgana), I think a solid recommendation would be. Full Metal Daemon Muramasa. It's a very VERY dark and messed up story which is made apparent pretty early on, but it's an absolutely masterpiece when it comes to the themes and concepts it explores, along with an incredible cast of characters, possibly one of the greatest characters ever written (obviously this one is subject to what you've read and your experience with it, but yeah), and more I think if you ever really want to get into Visual Novels, Muramasa is probably the best the medium has to offer
I once again recommend Blue Box. A really wholesome romance/sports shonen about a guy and a girl. He plays Badminton, she plays Basketball. I lovingly refer to it as "Romcom Haikyuu" as it touches on similar themes but from the comparative perspective of romance and falling in love with someone in addition to success in sports. The art conveys a rich sense of emotion in the characters and the two Protags are endearing in all the best ways. It's ongoing at 134 chapters and it's still riding high. It also just got announced for an anime at Jump Festa to be produced by TMS of Undead Unluck, Orange, and Lupin the 3rd fame.
Just came across your channel and videos. Absolutely love this series, a lot of fun to watch. Good work! Look forward to more. As far as manga reccs - I would recommend one of my original favourites Blade of the Immortal or I am A Hero, curious to see how it would hold up to someone new to it
Now that you've read Psyren, Ryuhei Tamura's Beelzebub is undoubtedly a must from me. Tamura was heavily inspired from Psyrenn written-wise since he was an assistant there. It's a comedy action manga about a delinquent highschooler being chosen as the baby demon lords father, and the story is the protagonist development as he tries to accept his new life and grows to become a capable father for the demon lord in order to protect humanity while the delinquent elements being still present. In my opinion beelzebub is one of the greatest series from the 10's from wsj since it manages to combine various genres and styles that eventually leaves every single one with a different favorite part of the story, character, element etc. I'm trying since the start of the year to push the series since i think it really deserves the recognition of many peaople. Also something i forgot to mention, Beelzebub has the greatest collection of fights in modern shonen, despite the outcome and the length, every fight feels unique, balanced and unique from the other ones, with the powers being used along noral hand to hand combat and the different fighting style that every character uses really fits their character and personality. I dont think this comment will get number one so i tried to make it as big as i could in order to get your attention. Even if you dont like it in the start i really recommend you checking out the first 30-40 chapters. Thank you if you read my comment, continue doing the great work that you do, because of your channel i read many series that i ended up loving and especially d.gray-man that became my favorite
If you gonna do a follow up and want to get some recomedations from the Coments, I really I hope you give "Growing Tired Of The Lazy High Elf Life After 120 Years" a try, don't get put off by the title, its not what it seems to be, imo if you think " Frieren" is good, you most likely will enjoy this, probably even more. As a TL:DR of the manga , it puts the life of an High Elf in comparison to how short the life of a human is, and that might sound extremely familiar to Frieren, but in my opinion, while Frieren tries to undestanda her companions and see for herself the imortalisation of The Hero. Aesir(Thats MC name) takes it upon himself to learn the craft of his teachers and this way keeps their legacy going, he knows that the next time he visits a town, the friends he made there might be long gone, thats why he makes the encounters count. Not only that but since hes a High Elf he needs to understand that he has responsabilities over other elves and that his words hold significant value. TL:DR for the TL:DR ITs like Frieren if you like it , read it.(Also it realeses monthly sadly and there are only 27 chapters as of now.
I don't like it, the writing just makes it hard to enjoy it and the characters seem obnoxious to me, but perhaps i'm judging too early since I couldn't get more than 100 pages into the way of the kings.
Love the Psyren love, the series just came out at the wrong time, if they make an anime today it would be popular, the manga is great but even if it hit axed, I still think about what the other was planning for the future of the manga that we will sadly never see😢
I recommend you read The Avesta of Black and White by Takashi Masada, it's a light novel with sci-fi medieval aesthetic mixed with amazing characters, overall it's one of the best pieces of fiction I have ever read
I recommend you read Ginga Nagareboshi Gin (Or Silver Fang in english). It's a manga about a dog army fighting killer-bears that has been terrorizing the area the story is set in. It's filled with over-the-top manliness (not in a bad way, otherwise I wouldn't be recommending this) that also helps support the themes of sacrifice, bravery, teamwork, and leadership.
I HIGHLY recommend "The Fable" manga It's about the greatest professional killer in Japan with some form of high-functioning autism and his female driver partner being forced to lay low and live a normal life for a year under the local yakuza's wing. The story has both amazing comedy and good drama, but its greatest strength is the sense realism and detail with everything it tackles - from killing skills and crime machinations to slice of life and dialogue. The same applies to the characters, who you feel extremely real and like you know them personally by the end. Absolutely amazing read.
@@artaum5635 not in this video but he did in another video, he said that once you start reading it you wont be able to stop, which is absolutely bc i love the shit out of that manga
I'm gonna keep recommending Yawara until you either have said you've read it or it's included in a video lol. I saw the anime which was pretty darn solid, but the main event the series is leading up to got shortened to a tv special (which had the most important parts at least), while the manga apparently got paced properly, so I'd love to hear your thoughts about it
The blue ui with ur 3D avatar in the video game editing style gave me huge og persona 3 vibes, I’ve never played it but I’ve seen stuff from it and can’t wait for p3reload
You should check Ad Astra - Scipio and Hannibal, especially if you like Kingdom. I will actually dare to say that Ad Astra shows war strategies better than Kingdom. Also its more historically accurate Anyway, the Kingdom Hearts UI was great
Koko no Hito (The Climber) Idk if you have read it, but I highly recommend. Summarising it poorly, it's about mountain climbing, and I, someone who had absolutely no interest about it as a subject, couldn't put this manga away, I was that obsessed with it.
I would recommend that you read Jing: King of Bandits and Jing: King of Bandits Twilight Tales. Its a great story that has a werid an unquie world. It is also a bunch of one shot stories that all are very captivating and odd. It also has a lot of mystery around the main character and is very highly stylized. Its also the only full storie done by Yuichi Kumakura. The only other stories he has writen have been one shots or really short chapters. I would recommend giving it a go if you like weird and strange worlds.
Whoa it's been a while since I tuned back in to your videos (been subbed for a while) this video is really interesting I love the video game aesthetic!
Another book to read is “House of Leaves” it’s a long one and is unable to be done as an audiobook but it’s uniquely terrifying. Even if you just flip through the book without reading a word you will see what I mean. It’s not very well known from what I’ve seen but those who have seen it could probably agree that it’s amazing. Hope this makes it to the top because it would be amazing to see it more in the mainstream. Edit: I realize that I am posting this 4 weeks after the video came out but if there’s even a small chance I thought I had to recommend this.
7:55 I’m surprised that you never read Psyren before. The end felt kinda rush, but the story was awesome and unique. 11:48 Boruto has been getting better. I didn’t like the series at first, but now it’s pretty ok. As of November 28, 2024 the story is slowly moving by how people are getting captured.

I do hope it gets fully translated at some point.
Love it the edit was so great I couldn’t look away. The amount of details man. i’m speechless .
God damn! That is a very interesting and unique visual and editing style
I became very confused at the beginning due to this retro game style, nevertheless, pretty sick!
I love the presentation and aesthetics if the viseo it looks absolutely great
This was an extremely well-made video and I fuck with old school JRPG aesthetic in the editing and what not, great job 💯.
Damn dude, thank you so much for this. I live to experience these great stories, can't wait to read some of these. Will start with The Girl from the other side
Recommending Boruto is more of a meme than Interspecies Reviewers.
"Explores what is at the core of the human soul and what allows it to survive and find purpose... and that's love. "
Me, loveless: guess I'm not human.
It's a very VERY dark and messed up story which is made apparent pretty early on, but it's an absolutely masterpiece when it comes to the themes and concepts it explores, along with an incredible cast of characters, possibly one of the greatest characters ever written (obviously this one is subject to what you've read and your experience with it, but yeah), and more
I think if you ever really want to get into Visual Novels, Muramasa is probably the best the medium has to offer
Read Junket Bank. Its very similar to Usogui, and the quality of the story and art is NOT lacking.
I was just thinking about psyren yesterday, and still surprised there is no anime adaptation
Yooooo, this editing style is fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Btw i am new to this channel, man i love your editing style
Bruh the editing in this vid is insane, I busted everywhere
My recommendation, though it's not a manga, is The Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson
is it a book?
I don't like it, the writing just makes it hard to enjoy it and the characters seem obnoxious to me, but perhaps i'm judging too early since I couldn't get more than 100 pages into the way of the kings.
Love the Psyren love, the series just came out at the wrong time, if they make an anime today it would be popular, the manga is great but even if it hit axed, I still think about what the other was planning for the future of the manga that we will sadly never see😢
No kidding very rarely do people talk about it. There are decent number of cartoons and manga that don't get enough love
I recommend you read The Avesta of Black and White by Takashi Masada, it's a light novel with sci-fi medieval aesthetic mixed with amazing characters, overall it's one of the best pieces of fiction I have ever read
I’d recommend reading a comic book called 100 Bullets, easily my fav comic oat it gets a bit dark at times but is genuinely amazing
I HIGHLY recommend "The Fable" manga
It's about the greatest professional killer in Japan with some form of high-functioning autism and his female driver partner being forced to lay low and live a normal life for a year under the local yakuza's wing. The story has both amazing comedy and good drama, but its greatest strength is the sense realism and detail with everything it tackles - from killing skills and crime machinations to slice of life and dialogue. The same applies to the characters, who you feel extremely real and like you know them personally by the end. Absolutely amazing read.
he has read it
@@abhinavmishra6452 When? Pretty sure you're confusing some other manga recommendation video with his ones
@@artaum5635 not in this video but he did in another video, he said that once you start reading it you wont be able to stop, which is absolutely bc i love the shit out of that manga
Pretty sure that was Ah Lecks's video, Scamboli Reviews also recommended it@@abhinavmishra6452
I'm gonna keep recommending Yawara until you either have said you've read it or it's included in a video lol. I saw the anime which was pretty darn solid, but the main event the series is leading up to got shortened to a tv special (which had the most important parts at least), while the manga apparently got paced properly, so I'd love to hear your thoughts about it
Why don't you just say it's by Urasawa. That's one of his favourite mangaka
@@Ash_Wen-li Shhhhhh it's supposed to be a surprise
The blue ui with ur 3D avatar in the video game editing style gave me huge og persona 3 vibes, I’ve never played it but I’ve seen stuff from it and can’t wait for p3reload
If you're going to make another one of these recommendations style manga review videos, I recommend Worst Spinoff Mr Zetton.
This is a great video... thanks for all the reviews.
Gotta read No Longer Human
You should check Ad Astra - Scipio and Hannibal, especially if you like Kingdom. I will actually dare to say that Ad Astra shows war strategies better than Kingdom. Also its more historically accurate
Anyway, the Kingdom Hearts UI was great
Read the original The Crow comic. Feel free to watch the first movie too.
Koko no Hito (The Climber)
Idk if you have read it, but I highly recommend.
Jesus Christ, did you get the actual va for Gabriel to say that?😂
Another book to read is “House of Leaves” it’s a long one and is unable to be done as an audiobook but it’s uniquely terrifying.
Cormac McCarthy has a really interesting style of writing. The Road is another one of his books and it’s also written this way.
