I have to say, listening to Layla and learning to play Layla on guitar gives you a new profound respect for the song. While I always liked the song, I never looked at it as spectacular until I started playing it myself and rocking the hell out of those whole step bends.

I have no idea if this post will ever be read by anyone but ... here goes. The "Production Values" of this content surpasses almost every other "Content Provider" you'll view today (2024). Kudos. Truly conscientious and unequivocal professionalism in all respects and regard. What it took to produce and deliver this content will never truly be comprehended. Bravo! Sincerely. Thanks mate.

Brilliant lesson - as always. I feel like a cheat going to G-365 every time I want to work out a song. But is the best reliable source.

Awesome! There is so much intricacy to this song. I could have only been done by Clapton and Duane Allman. Their chance meeting is something that made history. Clapton said that if he had a brother, it would have been Duane. Music like this isn't created now days. Everyone relies on keyboards and perfect pitch. Bulls**t! The 60's and 70's were a wonderful time in what we now call Classic Rock. So many great pieces of music were created. If it weren't for the piano player playing a little piece of something that he and Rita Coolidge's sister had created, then used without her permission, we wouldn't have that classic end piece. From what I have researched, It was recorded at least 2-3 days after the main recording session, and Clapton and Allman just played what they felt at the time. Duane played the slide WAY past the last fret. Love his little trade mark sound. Everyone can tell when the finale is coming. You can hear the difference in the recording. I just wish that they had better recording at the time. The result would be truly wonderful. You have done a wonderful job in deconstructing the different parts of this timeless song, then presenting them in lessons. You are by far the best on You tube! Three cheers!

Fantastic presentation as always! You really seem to be the best and most versatile (online) guitar teacher. It is really unbelievable how many different songs and solos you can play and teach! I'm really awed by your talent! Leo Gibson, Davie 504 and all the other wannabe heros are strongly recommended to watch your videos!
I think I learnt about 30 songs by now from you! Carry on please! And by the way: I would really appreciate, if you could teach one or two songs by the German Hardrock band "Bonfire", because I can hardly find any tabs for their songs on the internet. 👍

Very nice demonstration! Apparently, Duane Allman might have played the lead under the verses using a slide in standard tuning instead of fretting the notes. It sort of sounds like he's just cramming notes in there at the 9th and 11th frets using E major under all of the chord changes.
