Carl, on one of your older videos I learned how to play the acoustic version of Layla by checking out your video and following it note for note. It took me some time but i got it done. I think your videos are some of the best teaching videos on the net. Thanks Man
Thanks so much for this! It's overwhelming to look at tabs for something like this for me, but this video lesson was easy to follow and very comprehensive.
first of all, you have one wicked shirt! grey/brown on the cam on the right and green on the cam on the left! Second i'd like to thank you very very much, came here after some bad/exhausting long tuturials this one is the best for sure Up to part 2! THanks!!
Dm pentatonic, although it would probably sound closer if you used the Dm blues scale (basically a minor pentatonic scale with an added flat five, as well as the natural five).
I will be honest. I am kind of a jammer. I figure out, what I can figure out, on the fly, and fake the rest. :) but, when I do want to see how something is actually played, I get very frustrated with many videos. many times, I feel that I have time for a sandwich, and a nap, before the narrator of the video gets to the next chord, or note. I feel that I could have learned from your teaching approach fifteen years ago, or fifteen minutes ago. I will definitely be revisiting this video, and picking up what I can. and, my opinion, is only based on the first two minutes of your video. I really didn't need to see much more to know that you were accurate. side note.... I like to believe (for my own playings sake) that an instrument puts out the feel you put into it. now, I do realize that this only goes so far. but damn, that guitar has a big sound. :)
If you really wanted to use Bmin I would suggest using Bflat minor instead. In the key of F major (relative major of D minor), the Bflat is major instead of minor. You will probably do well to begin with using the D minor pentatonic blues scale.
+INFINITY NOTHING MORE I was thinking the same thing. Even had me checkin up the Bminor shape. Still, that's why it pays to be able to HEAR a chord then we don't get thrown of by verbal errors.
You are always my go to for learning new songs on youtube, i started playing very recently, and was curious to know where you learned how to play this song, was it from tabs, ear or from watching clapton live?
It’s kinda funny because at the moment I was saying to myself D-minor not B-minor And was About to add a public comment right below me in the comments section and I mean right below me was a person “Heni Nechi “ who beat me to it 🤓 Anyhow great lesson not trying to nitpick but from all my dear I thought I was crazy keep up the great work thanks for posting these tutorials
Thanks, an excellent tutorial! I am moving on to part 2. Only one criticism, when you play the entire piece at the beginning you rush through it. I know you are clearly capable of playing it properly but it would be helpful if you played it at the right tempo and melody for us to get the feel of the song. That being said we can all learen that the peoper way by listening to Clapton as I did. Thanks again.
Terrific lesson. Just a little feedback: After showing the lick step by step, you go straight to normal speed showing the whole lick. I think would be great to play the lick slow tempo one time and only then play it at normal speed. Otherwise you go from note by note to the whole lick at normal speed. That's too big of a step in my opinion. I'm already using the 0.5 speed function, but you get the point. Thanks for the lessons !
TheGhostCode I have already done that as well. Check out my Eric Clapton lesson playlist to see them all. :) ruclips.net/p/PLOBqO_KghqI6INOiGG1-1ry5Ooc_Ih5iG

Can't wait for Layla part 2! Good teachin' you're 1
claptons acoustic solo is actually so similar to his electric solo, you only realise once you start playing
Very informative!! Thank you for this!
Thanks for all the wonderful lessons !
you should give it a try :) at first I gave up at the same point, but later I gave it a try and it turned out that it's not that hard :) best of luck

Ok man, thanks so much, I was using the standard d minor scale but it didn't always sound right so I had to find out.

real good mate. thnx alot
Thank you so much.
Great job.
I really wish these lessons would explain a little of the theory and scales that these solos work with
Thanks so much, it´s very nice
Very nice!
Superb, thank you very much!
When you play the intro, and say "All right", i answer "you've got me on my kness, begging teacher please..."
That first chord looks like a D minor to me.
Sounds like a D minor too but he corrects himself at about 1:59.
actually i was going to say that :D :D
Excellent
Great lesson Thank you!!!
Well explained! Thanks!
isnt it d minor?
Yeah
you could move the b- power chord up another 2 frets and its the same as a d minor :o easier to play
Thanks!
Well Explained.. Thanks a lot :)
the intro solo it's pretty Dm pentatonic scale, if u want to jam with over the track you can improv with that
should i change betweem hitting the strings and up? btw great tutorial
Excelente, mil gracias
Can you do the "plugged in" version? also, AWESOME TUTORIALS

Thanks bro
is this song in standard?
Yes. Sorry it took 4 years to reply 😂😂😂😂. The whole album is in standard except for a few songs that are open G tuning
On that pinky bar chord I find it impossible to make all strings ring is the g chord supposed to just be muted ? If so it doesn’t make sense to me
3:13 first part repeat
Do the " Nobody Know You When You're Down and Out" by Eric Clapton (Unplugged)
I finally nailed it, thanks pal.
Learning this beacuse the high e string on my electric broke still a great song tho
Same
u can play tears in heaven too.. hahaha had the same problem of the high e string
とても、わかりやすいです。
I've been playing for a week, I'll take it this may be a bit too advanced? Good shit anyway
Just a little, lol
Who are the 407 people who click don’t like? I’d like to see them do this!
How long did it take you guys to learn this song?
Don't you think it would be easier to use a C (open) chord instead of a C power chord, then it's easier and closer to the Dm chord.
What's the guitar? It sounds wonderful!
dont know if it is my guitars problem but, it is normaly tuned?
What key should I solo in when I play this? Can I improv using Bmin. Pent atomic?
Today is gonna be the day tht they are Gonna throw it back you
What's the type of the guitar he uses?Acoustic?Cheers!
Thx very much:-)
That’s so tough
damm it been 9 years and i still cant play this
