Over the last 3 years I have done several watch reviews and videos and people always complain that I am rough with the watch, that I bang them around and mishandle them. These must be people who have never owned or worn one of these watches. The Rolex sport models are virtually indestructable. If you have a polished dress watch, you are more careful with it only because you don't want to scratch the polish on it. However, the all stainless models that do not have the polished center links, can be treated as badly as you want. You can wack them on door knobs, lay on the ground and scratch them on the concrete, you can take it off and toss it on the table. You can put it in your pocket with your keys. YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BREAK IT. If you were to slam it on the concrete, you could break the crystal or crack a ruby inside, which has happened to one of my Subs and I had to replace the pallet fork. I wore the same Rolex 2-tone Submariner for 15 years straight, it was a 1990 model I bought in 2004. I wore this watch daily as a car mechanic and fabricator. Every once in a while I would re-polish it myself on a buffing wheel, but then I started doing a satin brush finish on it using a purple Scotch-Brite. Yes, that's right, I did in the sink. I get constant compliments on the finish. When it gets scratched up, about every 6 months, I re-polish it. I don't give a shit about it's value and sellability and originality, I am not selling it and if I do, I don't care, so please save me the speech, I don't care.
I’ve a GMT from 1977. Getting out of my old BMW 1600 I caught the bracelet on the door latch and bent the bracelet’s catch. I also managed to pull the bezel off my old Explorer on the frame of my refrigerator! Yes they’re tough but not unbreakable!
Thank you for taking risks with your Rolex! I've been training to self-service my own Day-Date. There's plenty of self-help videos out there and TBH it's really not too difficult taking apart and putting it back together the movement. It makes watch ownership that much more enjoyable.
you probably dont care but if you're bored like me during the covid times you can watch all the latest series on Instaflixxer. Have been watching with my girlfriend recently =)
I found this very interesting and understand a bit more of why they are priced the way they are I love to learn and I have no complaints I learned a few new things and learning is the greatest.
I promise you they aren't priced that way because of rubys and quality. The gold has value, the watch is well made, but for the prices they sell for and resell for is all because of the name. It is what it is and unfortunately I love every bit of their scam.
Hi, useful video, thanks! But my Sub stem seems like one piece and ends with a rubber padding in the crown. Does that mean it is welded in? I need to replace the crown as the threads inside has worn out. The stem is fine. Thanks in advance.
How did you remove the stem of the watch? I think I need to fix my sea dweller, it winds but I can’t pull it out until it clicks to change time or date.
Hey man, great video, I'm doing something similar, trying to replace some parts on my submariner, where can I order parts, like a bezel spring and bezel insert?
In 1966 I could have bought a submariner at the PX in Giessen Germany for $125.00. I bought the Omega Speedmaster instead for $94.00 because that’s all I had in my checking account! My 77 GMT was $325.00 and I paid $400.00 for my used Explorer. Pretty good investments!
I have watched your other videos about the RR. And it's cool you made this video nice content for a change! If you change the Pallet fork? I like to see that one as well. Nice old 16613. Just need some love
Yep, that's how its done. Just be sure to only grab it by the tread portion only. You have tritium dial and hands so if you ever sent it to Rolex for service, they will recommend to replace them with superluminova service replacements. Unfortunately this will devalue the watch. My recommendation is to see if you can source out a good used gold tritium minute hand from a reputable watch seller on ebay and send the watch with the hand to an independent Rolex service shop that can still get parts like the pallet fork. They will likely be half the price of a RSC.
My crown wont screw in and I'm hoping it's the crown threads messed up and not the steel threads It's my grandfathers watch but it's in the will to me It has me stressed out
Subbed. This video was heaven! - (is it true that Rolex will ‘confiscate’ parts they’ve not put onto the watch an the service centre themselves, if you were to send this in for any works. I have a feeling I read that somewhere and it might of course be rubbish haha) loved the video for your personality! Awesome.
If your Rolex is out of warranty there really is no reason to send it to Rolex Service Center. Any decent-sized town will have competent watch repairmen with Rolex parts.
That "T" after Swiss on the bottom of the dial denotes radioactive luminous. It is not however as potent as the stuff used when it first appeared years back.
1. A better underlay would be more suiting 2. The crown is supposed to point upwards with watch laying on it´s caseback 3. Touching the movement with bare fingers is no good 4. The "rubies/jewels" are man made and synthetic 5. It´s your watch -you can do whatever the heck you want with it
“I’m obsessed with keeping it clean” Then wear some rubber you left fingerprints all over the rotor and inside parts. That’s like animal grease that will will go nasty in there
You need to send it to Rolex .The calendar reached its limit .But if you send it in they only accept a full service. You can search a new calendar and let a watchmaker replace it
It seems one of them is a fake crown. As I can watch in the video old crown has 2 dots (twinlock) and the new one has 3 dots (triplock). Submarkner uses triplock. Perhaps is just only low video res or too much wearing on the old crown

Just what I was looking for :) Thanks

@Drake Marcellus Yup, I've been watching on Instaflixxer for years myself :D
what about the rubber gaskets??
Great video bro. Enjoyed it!
I found this very interesting and understand a bit more of why they are priced the way they are I love to learn and I have no complaints I learned a few new things and learning is the greatest.
Good video I learned a lot easy to follow thank you

I’m a regular subscriber and I found this video searching for something else...glad I did...great video.
you have a very laid back wicked page, thank u for sharing
working on a marble counter face down not good but thank you for the video the crown on my oyster rolex came of i thought it broke so thanks.
How did you remove the stem of the watch? I think I need to fix my sea dweller, it winds but I can’t pull it out until it clicks to change time or date.
Awesome video brother...
Gasket in the crown bro you forget
What a beauty one day I’ll own one
Great video
I enjoyed this
Great video thank you
nice video... and nice watch👍🏾
I’ve subscribed. Us watch enthusiasts will no doubt cringe at this video, but it’s been great fun! Good on ya, from a fellow Bob.
how to order Rolex part ? thank bro
Did you every sort the watch out
bro can i ask what plyers did you use to unscrew the crown, tryna find one
Hey man, great video, I'm doing something similar, trying to replace some parts on my submariner, where can I order parts, like a bezel spring and bezel insert?
EBay

My Rolex stem will only turn one way. It slides the other way and won’t change the date. Replace movement?

Think you cranked it down hard enough. Jeesh!

Yeah, I wouldn't trust RSC. They are stubborn, greedy snakes.
Hey brother! How did you take your back off to open things up? Thanks
Get yourself a set of Rolex dies for removing the case backs!
I think you great at videos…i like your style boss humour is a great weapon
Good job, however I recommend a tiny amount of silicone grease should be added to the inside of the crown tube. Also the hands need re-luming.
My crown wont screw in and I'm hoping it's the crown threads messed up and not the steel threads
It's my grandfathers watch but it's in the will to me
It has me stressed out

I’m low key outraged that u kept dropping ur watch facing down on the table 😂
Hello sir in my watch i cant change the year after 2019 its again come back to 2008 what the solution for this
You need to send it to Rolex .The calendar reached its limit .But if you send it in they only accept a full service. You can search a new calendar and let a watchmaker replace it
gloves are really important.
so are condoms. it just feels better going raw.
03:22 *not* cleaning the screw..? tzz.. tzz..
Rip 16613 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
naw, these rolexes are tanks. it's hard to destroy them even with self-servicing.
Huh its now trading at 13k same model as you !! With your condition it's easily traded 8500-9k
Crown logo position is random
Dom Park always is:) every watch has a different position
@@EricAlamangoTV Yes that's what I'm telling him , He says in the video it lines up like that.
6:50 !

600$ -700 for a reg 7mm crown from Rolex so I put a generic one on and don’t really mind …..and ya they don’t want to sell you parts Is true
Tritium
For God's sake but some material down to protect that watch😲😲😲
Pin vise.
The crown was allredy loose
And this is why the don’t sell Rolex parts to consumers 😂
So why?
It’s so rare to see someone man handling Rolex like that. Lol it’s your shit 🤷🏾♂️
they werent just getting cancer they where literally deforming their hands faces arms look up radium girls so sad what happened to them
That crown isnt solid gold? Damn. Thats sad
The crown is. The stem is steel though.
Not real rubis! Synthetic stones.... Simply called jewels as they are the same material as non-real rubis in jewelry.
Everything about this video makes me cringe.
It looks fake
No it doesnt. All "before 2000" Rolex look that way. That was the best you could get back then.
it's not fake!! u may wanna do some homework before talking shit
ITS A FAKE ….THE PARTS YOU BUY ON EBAY SORRY BOSS THEY FAKE ALL THE ROLEX PACKAGING
Why you are so cheap? You have a Rolax. You should go watch repair to do.
Because it's not difficult and Rolex will charge you obscene amounts of money. I too service my Rolex 16750 GMT-Master at home.
Because it's more satisfying to do repairs yourself. More respect to the DIY watch geek over rich watch snobs.
