    Thanks so much. My Sub's bezel had stopped turning easily and was not making the clicks. I followed what you did, and there was a ton of dirt under the bezel. Took a few tries to get the spring in just right, but entire project was less than 30 mins and now it is PERFECT again. Just a word of caution to ohters trying this, be sure you fully seat the insert into the bezel. I caught the fact mine was not fully seated and re-did it successfully and got that reassuring loud click as it went down into place. Would have been very bad to have lost the insert. You saved me $300 and a month without my watch. Many many thanks!

    Best video on how to remove, clean and install the Rolex bezel. In particular I like the shots on removing / put back the spring. I am not a watch repair person, so the video helps a lot. My Rolex submariner bezel cannot turn smoothly. I tried cleaning from outside, put on some oil and finally WD 40. Nothing helped. Removing and cleaning the bezel did the trick. So glad.

    Thanks for the great video. Just cleaned my Submariner Blusey bezel today and it went from not clicking at all just stiff ‘click less’ movement with sloppy backward slippage to very silky smooth firm clicking unidirectional motion without any back movement whatsoever. Feels and sounds new again. Now if I could just learn how to laser weld to fix the big dent I made in the side of the case by dropping it 10years ago that would be splendid.

      I think leave it dented, after 10 years that’s your watch with character now. Unless you gonna sell it or so. Other option hunt down a case and when you are ready to maintenance your watch ask them to put all in new case. Will loose case serial only thing.

    • @timmer92984
      @timmer92984 2 года назад

      That makes no difference, the click spring location is a matter of where the hole is oriented when the crystal retaining ring is pressed. Most people press the retaining ring so the click spring is oriented over the upper right hand lug to make it harder to lose the click spring when removing the bezel.

  • @jsusna1972
    @jsusna1972 2 года назад

    I just attempted to replace a black insert with a green one. I removed the assembly with no problem, but could not separate the insert from the bezel as easily as depicted in the video. Are the inserts sometimes glued in? If so, why and how would you remove the insert in that case? Not wanting to damage anything, I ended up taking it to a watch repairman.

    • @watchmakerjd8525
      @watchmakerjd8525  2 года назад +3

      If the insert and bezel are Rolex genuine, they can be separated by hand. Glue is not used there because it is the principle of detachment. If you press the inside of the insert with your hand, the insert will fall out.

    • @jsusna1972
      @jsusna1972 2 года назад

      @@watchmakerjd8525 I'm not what you meant by "principle of detachment." So then there is a chance that the insert is not Rolex genuine and was therefore glued in? If you had one that did not simply fall out, would you be able to somehow separate them using a heat gun, assuming it must have been glued?

    Why would the bezel insert need to be lined up precisely when you can rotate it into place anyway?

    • @mtbbiker6401
      @mtbbiker6401 2 месяца назад

      because rotating bezels are usually 60, 90 or 120 clicks. Even a 120 click bezel may not line up properly so it's important to line up the bezel insert. I suppose if bezels had more clicks (higher resolution) then it wouldn't be as important. Kind of like setting the second hand on an automatic watch. It's not necessary to align the second hand because most automatics tick 6-8 beats per second but extremely important on a quartz that ticks 1 beat per second.

      It only clicks into certain spots. Let’s say 1/2 mm each click. So you click it. Now if the little pearl at 12:00 is accidentally not exactly but at the top, and is 1/2 mm to the right, or 1mm, or 1.5mm, you can just move it to the 12:00 position and it will line up fine. But if you accidentally put the pearl 1/4mm to the right, it will never be exactly at 12:00. Always a little right or a little left. Hope that’s clear. I initially agreed with what you wrote 100 percent. Then I realized there were specific clicks in specific spots. If it were clickless and could be infinitely adjusted anywhere you would be right.
