I was born Buddhist but growing up and moving to the states I grew up with Christianity. As I got older I felt something missing and with Christinaity I felt there was no development....as If I plateued.
Christianity didn't provide an angle that provided me to be available. Open to other beliefs. As I got older more questions kept coming into my mind that was unanswered. I started to read about Buddhism and went back to my roots. It opened me up and set me free. I didn't realize how unfulfilling Christianity was until I became a Buddhist. As Christinaity points toward God, and Jesus but never pointed directly towards my one self. With Buddhism...going inward I felt so many things break down of all the old beliefs and new ones started to form. Once I got to understand myself the universe opened up for me and more sensitive to everything in a beautiful way. Buddhism can help many religions if they would just read about it. Many western scholars did write many books on Buddhism and zen...and I can see many western churches start being influenced by the western intellects who studied Buddhism and mysticism. Then spirituality started becoming popular here when Oprah started talking about the secret. It's a start but once you plant the seed of Buddhism....and develop ...you will always be misunderstood. Then .....you have found the Buddha in you.

I can relate to what you say. To me the new testimony is just a puzzle piece of buddistic and the church doesnt focus on the essential teachings. So in christian churches still stays this unfulfilment. Me personally understand the jesus story that every single human beeing is reincarnation of christ and by worshiping each other (as equal and unique at the same time) we worship god. Its a nice thing to believe. But its not really what people and the church interpret from the bible. but there are some people combining and recognising buddhistic philosophy. teachings in the christian philosophy. Yeah but the bible itself tells of the misunderstandings already...

respected brother, You are thoughts are fine and you have mentioned that you were missing something in Christianity. It is true. Buddhist teaching is good. I suggest you to read quran. You can read any of translation. Some of the verse you need to read in proper context with tafseer. I think you will find inner peace.

I really agree with this. I was born in India in a Sikh family but i moved to Europe as a baby and grew up with christianity since i went in catholic schools. My parents were too busy making a living to reach me about my religion and in all actually, i considered myself as an atheist because i never understood what it was about. I was very depressed and because of the lack of knowledge about my roots, i didn't know where to go or what to do...I even felt hatred towards my culture because no one knew about Sikhism and i felt left out in every religious discussion since i knew nothing too. I had a negative view of religion because i saw how it devided people. (it was mostly muslims and christians debating and arguing)
Until one of my friends ask me if i believed in life after death. I told her no, i don't believe in anything. Then, she asked " how can you have meaning in life?" And i had no answer but it was my begining point because she pointed out to God and i started searching and learning by myself. It's been 2 years now and it changed my life.

I would say it in simple words...Buddha is your mind and Buddhism means shining cleaning your thoughts....it's not a religion.....it's a self learning and experiencing path provided by a person Siddharth Gautama....other religions focus on hammering their thoughts and how we get benefited by obeying their practices and follow their god..... Buddhism is follow yourself to become Happy without any superstitions...

They are in short no murder or killing,no stealing,no to lust,no lies and no addiction. If one follow this rule in his/her everyday life only then he can say,yes i am a Buddhist. All the Buddhists that I’ve encountered speaks of loving kindness similarly and consistently. This is what I love about Buddhism and why I can relate to it more and more. The teachings are the same across the board. Christianity in itself promotes similar teachings but in the modern sense, it’s denominations have deviated so far, one can wonder if it’s really following the core teachings of Christianity as it was originally established. I’ve been visited by a woman knocking door to door six years ago and she’s apparently the wife of some minister for some “church”. When I turned her down, she started an aggressive tirade against Islam, Judaism and Buddhism, on how these religions are threatening Christianity. It was an appalling experience. But that just proves my point. Even though I’m Catholic, I’m very wary of when people who claim to be Christians speaks ill of other religions. In fact, it turns me off.

Virtue is the beautiful beginning of the Path. The deep peace or Samadhi is the beautiful middle. Wisdom (Panna) is the beautiful end. Although they can be separated as three unique aspects of the training; as we look into them more and more deeply, these three qualities converge as ONE. To uphold virtue, you have to be wise".

King Trisong Duetsen invited great indian scholar shantarakshita to initiate Buddhism in Tibet. He was one who started Vinaya. He told king that the help of Guru Rinpochoe was MUST to introduce buddhism. Thats why, Guru Rinpoche is indispensable in Tibetan Buddhism. Apart from this distortion, teaching is perfect to modern world.

I am a Buddhist, practitioner from Myanmar. According to research Burmese is descended direct line from Tibetan Burman.
It's shameful that recently some extremists destroyed goodwill value of authentic Buddhism in Myanmar.
Buddhism is generally regarded, with good reason, as the most peaceful of world religions.

@Khinechithar. Not destroying any living being is 1st Buddhist precept which the Monk Wirathu did declare to his followers. Knowing that , he did instigate the people caused genocide to the Muslim Rohinyas. This practice of genocide done by all the Abrahamic religions is wrong and in the case of Wirathu, it was done in self defence to prevent Myanmar from being Islamised by the Muslim migrants as they have done in many countries that took them in. Wirathu will definitely suffer bad kamma for his actions but like Anguilimala, he too will have a chance to redeem himself when his bad kamma expires. Perhaps one day his actions may be considered a self sacrifice in defence of his belief.

I only say Burma, not Myanmar. How sad a woman who I revered, who was under house arrest over 20 years- she lost her husband & family, won a Nobel...what happened to her??? WHY would she get behind killing innocent people after she had herself been treated with such horrible cruelty. It is just so heartbreaking. I pray one day ALL of the people of Burma will be free.

    • @crewmatewillthrowthesehand7600
      @crewmatewillthrowthesehand7600 4 года назад

Burma is not a religion problem but a civil war problem. The heart of Yangon has every religious monument, mosque, church, hindu temple and even a Jewish Synagogue. The border conflicts are the result of dictatorship, the corrupted generals that have lost their way and refuse to change or give back power over key ministries to the citizens. They have far too much blood on their hands to call themselves Buddhist. And Wirathu is not going to be redeemed because a true Buddhist never turns to violence or take it in their own hands to influence violence and the death of many. Many innocent lives have suffered because of false words. The Nats and Devas have witnessed a corrupted man that worked the work of the devilish dictators and he will pay for his mistake for an infinite number of lifetimes.

Great talk! She didn't mention that there are now nunneries in Tibet, especially thanks to a British woman called Tenzin Palmo who demanded to receive the same training as monks do, meditated alone in a cave for 12 years and finally became the first female monk. Watch her documentary here on RUclips, so inspiring! 💖🤗🥰

I have met so many people who have "studied" Buddhism and Buddhist doctrines. And I am always reminded of the story of when the Senior Monk, or patriarch visited a monastery known for its well read monks. They could recite all the Sutras word perfectly from years of study, but the Senior Monk said "It is good, but they are mere parrots. They can recite, but do they understand or comprehend the message ?"
We are so easily misled by "words", the worst means of communication [but the only one we have to share] and often lose the message carried behind the words. And then, one day, in 'casual' reading, we SEE and HEAR, as if for the first time, the wisdom carried in those words. When the mind is open, it is ready to receive, but "wanting" to know leads to confusion.
