Bruce Lee was a huge proponent of this. It's what Jeet Kune Do is based on: intercepting the opponent's attack - attacking into his attack - because he opens himself up in doing so.
@@jaksahn3370 You clearly don’t even know who Bruce Lee is😂 you realize he was ranked the greatest martial artist the world only 50 years ago in the time where MMA fighters were stronger than any today 😂
@@PsGecko dude don't be out here saying wild shit lmao. If you want to have a real discussion about martial arts go ahead and think about that last part you said.
@@jaksahn3370 Bruce Lee is the father of MMA. He would fight in weight classes just like everyone else and would be one of the strongest in the bantamweight division, guaranteed he'd have the best stamina and by far the quickest. So would he be the champ? Who knows? I'd bet he doesn't have anything to prove and would just be an actor like he was anyway, but if he decided to, he would at least be a top contender. Him getting rag dolled tho? Lmao!!!.... Just shows your ignorance. Great athletes, in fact, did exist before you were born. Learn to love it!
Too many instructors teaching the first drill which is ok but it doesn’t show how to slip/counter. Very clear directions, this guy knows what he’s talking about.
I used to counter on the foot movement. Pontius start from the feet up so you hit them before they throw the punch and disrupt the power of the punch so you can trade 👊🏽
It’s not just the fact that they are more open to a punch if they are punching but also that they are driving their momentum forward into your counter strike making the impact all the more devastating
i guess the success of this style boxing as used in self defense depends on the talent of the fighter.. but even a beginner like me would feel comfortable learning from a trainer like this. straightforward with good communication.. and he breaks down the training routine into small separate sections 👍
We do the catch jab in Rhythms or 3. You end up focusing on who goes first. Makes the parry because an afterthought and reaction like it should be. Nice drill tho. Adding this into my training and coaching
Good tip Well done Only suggestion is move to the outsideof the leading punch so tour not in the line if sight Guy can throw a straight knee or kick or elbow or in this case punch So in video guy is throwing with left hand SO YOU MOVE RIGHT SLIGHTLY This small advise should be followed GOD Bless
That’s a boxing fundamental but I was surprised so many boxers didn’t learn it. It is not well taught in gyms. These were the first skills I learned, you can build your boxing from there.
This is the reason animals are good fighters. They dont stop when they get hit. If you kick a dog, they won't stop because you kicked them they just bite your leg(dont kick dogs tho just an example)
A great puncher takes the lead. He connect by punching with an arc(appears one level by not what his opponent thought), walks you into a shot, I won’t give away the last. This video is good for boxing in the ring but problemmatic on the streets because if the person you have superior speed and or timing you can’t get off. If all things equal it’s who hits more accurately or the hardest. I know this trainer knows this. He’s training his guys for sports where you can see a big glove coming at you and have Protection. On the streets you don’t give your opponent an opportunity to get off.
Pay attention people, this lesson can get you out of a jam!!!!
I like this guy. He’s a good communicator and passionate etc
nah he's a poser
💯
Exactly what bud was doing to Spence in the fight
Marijuana was counter punching a boxer named Spence?
@@rbr4115yes Terrence Marijuana Crawford

This channel is straight FIRE! no gimmicks, all very useful info and you are very good at explaining things
TY and Keep up the good work!

Bruce Lee would get rag dolled by an average guy who trains mma

Good point
Pontius = punches. is that a Boston accent messing up speech to text?
This coach is very good
Love it. Thank you
Yeah damn good work in this video. That is high quality instruction right there.
This is correct. My late father taught me this some 57 years ago.
Once saw Cus D’Amato using the body jab against Ali in the famous demonstration. There are so many jabs. Good lord
I instantly thought of that video when I saw it
Good coach
Counter puncher is tge way forward, most counter punches are the greats, tyson,Floyd, gervonta, levels to counters

Wow…this guy is good! If we had people like him in every city and every state of the US, it could save a lot of youth out there; boxing is kool.
Great explanation

This teacher is legit. Wow
Finally. Someone realistic and transparent
We called this a catch return… this the first time I’ve seen someone training this👍🏾
At my age I'll only be using this on the new Undisputed boxing game coming out on PS5 this October 😆
Good work
I like his tips and training advice, had to follow. Bro also lw looks like Sugar Ray lol

The two guys “do you know what to do?” Nah bro I was hoping you were paying attention I was day dreaming like a mother
You the man, exelente explanation
What do you think about Sledgehammer for good good punch??
Rlly good stuff
You really don’t wanna catch every jab a signature punch will counter that
This is perfect
Will use this next time I spar my brother, he likes to back up and throw lots of 1 2s so I gotta be in and out like this without leaving myself open
Teaching classic movies and sets ups
Yeah he’s a good instructor, all about the chess game, trying to outsmart and work your opponent, for efficient and effective body combinations or jabs,
Bruce Lee the art of the intercepting fist👊☯️✌️
When your head isnt where his strike is going, you can counter. So head movement is important, too. You can see it on nr. 2 and 3.
Nice sweater. Bang! Bang! Boxing Gang!
Good stuff
I like that hoodie 🫡
Where is this gym at
😮 Wowowow.!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Thats the timing I got and soon ppl gon know
On point!
Nice what state is this gym at ?
San Jose California. Couch Murph and lifestyle center. I train here. Great guy.
Yes sir after that if you connect you should flow up with a 3 piece
Where’s this gym?
The Norton jab
That's Exactly what Conor Did to Eddie
“Just catch it foo”
Nice one
Looks like I'm moving from LA to san Jose 😂
Nice sweater

What do you do when they pull out a gun?
Must be a world champion
Good stuff!
Video on how to deal with southpaws as orthodox pleaseeeee
Floyd v Manny or Zab Judah fights. You will learn a lot, trust me.
nice🔧🔥
This is good tech
I’m not a boxer, but it makes sense to me
What's the reason for punching thumb down? Just feels like an awkward way to jab. I suppose the shoulder creates more of a shield this way?
Nice 👍
A good puncher punches while you are punching

Who cares they are learning a sport. We all know that is very usefull for self defense but the goal is being a good boxer and this advice is so good
Counter punching
On the alley jab and body jab you slipped your head to the right to avoid being struck but able still to get your jab off as well 🤙
I want to see him n action any videos ?
Body jab with a hook finish?
nice❤
Thats a counter puncher. There are pressure fighters and than there are boxers or matadors. Many different styles when it comes to throwing hands
He is not in Houston 😢
Good coaching. Tight pants
Only casuals in here i see. Nobody said "i thought that was a charlo brother"
Its not a jab if you turn your shoulder into it, it's a left straight. Been saying it for 40 years and I am still right.
But if the left guy knows what he's doing after that jab he throws a upper cup the trainer it's gonna end seating on the ground
Good
❤❤❤❤❤
What bout south paw
Parrying and countering with your own jab, what’s not to like about that
Is that lil charlo?
