@@johnferguson4985 The Hughes rivalry was brilliant, especially as I think it was his first real taste of humble pie, iirc he was pretty sure of himself and then losing by armbar it really spurred him on, the difference between a good fighter and a champion. He then went on to submit Hughes by armbar in their next fight, or the one after, I know one was tko the other armbar. Crazy to think that era is fast approaching 20 years ago...
Not always the most exciting but the skill level he showed was extraordinary and there was always something big on the line given how long he was champ. He would still at least be Top 3 in the welterweight division today. In my (maybe biased) opinion would be champ if he was younger.

Lex, I can't thank you enough for posting this clip. I am a big fan of Georges and yourself. The tips Georges provided were very interesting. You look very good on the mat. Continue taking care of yourself. Your work is more valuable than you know.
I am no MMA fighter but I see GSP's use of leverage. When he moves and spins his whole body is in one fluid motion everything is connected. While our man here is staying stationary and trying to lock in position or strategize a move, GSP just breaks through all of it because he seems to just see the move and throws his body in motion toward a point of destination.
Core strength. This is why growing up, you never fucked with the real surfers, well if you did you'd find out... fluidity...cardio, big balls, explosive movements. Seen a surfer 5'10 absolutely maul a gym bro years ago...
Massive experience gap, GSP still trains like he's an active competitor, lex has other interests and things that occupy his time. If someone goes to 3 1 hour classes a week, vs someone who trains like 4-6 hours a day 4-5 days a week, and teaches classes, the differential will be enormous, and the longer they maintain that differential the bigger the gap gets.
@@creaturelive Gym bros are not exactly tough opponents. When all you do is build show muscle, you're generally gonna get bodied by dudes who are functionally athletic. This was amazing Lex, thanks so much for sharing this with us. You could've easily kept this to yourself. Man I was knee deep into Baldur's Gate 3, which I was super interested in, but when I got in to this video I completely stopped playing it lol Fascinating watching you two go through this.
Funny. I was just watching a beginners guide before this vid. Good times.
lmao? like Lex ((fridman)) would miss out on an opportunity like this
These vlogs are awesome, the talking to people on the street plus the podcasts, it's all coming together nicely.
Wow, what an honour! Well done Lex, and thank you to the great GSP for sharing.
This is amazing and so informative! Petition to have live-rolls with other influential people, who are also BJJ practitioners like Joe Rogan, Jocko Willink, Eddie Bravo, Tom Hardy, Russell Brand etc.
I subscribe to this petition!
me too
Eddie Bravo is a little bit more than just a practitioner lol he's a monster
This 100% needs to be a thing!
Also subbed
Such a cool video! Training with the goat! What a great opportunity for GSP 😜
This video was badass and informative to watch.
George St. Pierre was always one of my favorite fighters to watch.
His matches against BJ Penn would have everyone at Buffalo Wild Wings going crazy. 💪🏻
GSP is awesome. Much love to this dude. Likes of him inspires people by millions. Ty Lex for the awesome video. Every second of it was fun to watch.
Keep posting amazing content. Truly spectacular knowledge from one of the greatest living martial artists of all time.
I watched every GSP fight I could. I knew he was one in a million. Those fights were more exciting than about anything back then.
Bro when he beat Hughes for the title and put his Mom up on his shoulder I shed a tear! Then on my bday when he lost to Serra I shed my eyeballs. Knowing that he understood he had gotten too cocky and vane back DESTROYED Serra I knew he was unstoppable
I’m going to go back and watch his fights again with a little more insight into what GSP is doing.
His fight with Bisping was around the time I got into MMA. So cool.
Not always the most exciting but the skill level he showed was extraordinary and there was always something big on the line given how long he was champ. He would still at least be Top 3 in the welterweight division today. In my (maybe biased) opinion would be champ if he was younger.
Lex continues to impress me every month. his growth is inspiring. Georges is the GOAT.
This is so awesome to see. Thank you guys! ❤
This is so wholesome from both parties, what an experience that must have been 🎉
I'm always amazed just how good of a guy GSP is. Arguably the best MMA fighter of all time and can wipe the floor with 99% of people on this earth , yet you couldn't tell by being around him.
Just a role model all around
make this a monthly thing!! some sparring & tips please!! so entertaining
This content is hitting the spot Lex. Keep up the amazing work
great stuff lex you're fortunate to have such a exceptional teacher
What a great teacher! I learned something. Getting a good workout and being uninjured is the best!😊
Loved this. Getting to meet Georges let alone get some rolls and instruction in is a dream for me. He is the GOAT! Great content Lex!
@@creaturelive uhm you seen a lot of surfers big balls?
Massive experience gap, GSP still trains like he's an active competitor, lex has other interests and things that occupy his time. If someone goes to 3 1 hour classes a week, vs someone who trains like 4-6 hours a day 4-5 days a week, and teaches classes, the differential will be enormous, and the longer they maintain that differential the bigger the gap gets.
@@creaturelive Gym bros are not exactly tough opponents. When all you do is build show muscle, you're generally gonna get bodied by dudes who are functionally athletic. That's why there's hundreds of videos of muscle bound gym bros being humiliated by smaller opponents who train anything other than bench and curls.
@@hzuielLex is still a blackbelt and not just some random hobbyist
Its awesome that this lexicon of a fighter is still around and in shape. Would absolutely love to visit a seminar one day. GSP is everything that makes a fighter, mentality, results and teaching the next generation. Great video!
GSP one of the greats! Always a humble gentleman, great to see he’s passing some knowledge onto Lex 👍👍
Could watch this over and over again! What a great teacher!🔥
GPS IS AMAZING! I would love to see GSP do a street self-defense video series!
I have a even better one Gsp and Kabib fight
No self defense video will ever be better than Bas Rutten's. Boing-boing-boing-DONG-DONG-BING-BONG!
Two thumbs up to you both... great training!! Thank you Lex.
Amazing video 🙌🏼🙌🏼
GSP's tactics are absolute gold. Thank you for sharing.
Love to see this content! Thank you Lex and GSP 🙏
gsp laughing when hes rolling is the most intimidating thing ive ever seen
Crazy to think he was bullied when he was a teenager
@@MissJ629 a lot of the greats were. Bas Rutten, Cormier, Dodson, JDS, etc. You know how many bullies held UFC gold? None
@@BOZ_11 lmao that's highly unlikely, given how many people with a fiery temper there are in martial arts. This just isn't what people typically like to reveal about themselves. I think Matt Hughes wrote about being a bully in his book, but I could easily see Dillashaw, Rampage Jackson, Brock Lesnar, Jon Jones, Petr Yan, Bisping and many others being bullies when they were younger.
Martial arts is full of assholes, some of them happen to be great fighters. As much as people want to believe otherwise, there's no magic filter for personality when it comes to excellence
@@aaaa-eg4ck Petr Yan had no time to be a proper bully lol, watch/read up on his childhood where he was already working/fighting to support his family since he was a kid, in some frozen russian nowhere.
jones though..
Then again, we never knew them personally so eh
@@aaaa-eg4ck "This just isn't what people typically like to reveal about themselves" - u mean like being bullied???
There's no way Yan, Rampage or Brock were ever bullies; my examples are documented, yours are pulled from somewhere else (you know what I'm saying).
Having said that, from what there is in the media, Jones and Dillashaw did engage in bratty behaviour, which isn't bullying in and of itself.
"given how many people with a fiery temper there are in martial arts"
Guys who can't control their tempers don't win gold.
This was so great to watch. Exactly what I would have watched, just chilling like John after my class. Great entertainment and information
Such a fantastic vid!
Loved the fundamental breakdown by the master, both in standup and grappling mode.
Proving yet again why GSP is still number 1.
Hope he continues to keep this humble, mentor role for many more years.
👊⚡
Proving
Love GSP I remember any time he would be on to fight I’d be instantly watching 👍❤️
Doesn't matter how long you train, there's always that someone that tries it out and just frequen kills it. Love the the humbleness in every way man.
You have balls for putting yourself out there like that. No shame in getting taught a lesson by a great.
exactly what i thought, courage to not look optimal 100% of time
He has balls for training with GSP and posting it on his channel? Lol what ?
Imagine the shame from learning from one of the bests ever in his craft. Such weakness should be unforgivable!
Pretty normal in bjj. Always someone out there who can crush you or show you up. But yea kinda hard sometimes showing that to the general public because they assume because you’re training or been training long you just always win against everyone lol people who don’t train see you get tapped and think you’re not that good but you’re just against someone who trains just as hard or harder.
Dude, rolling with St. Pierre would be the highest honor, wtf u talking about
Amazing job training together, showing respect to each other and also having some fun. Stay awesome!
Dude... Lex seems like a excellent student, and GSP an excellent teacher!! Love this!
Wow, that's one of the best short advisory clips I've seen when it comes to wrestling yourself out of a violent situation. No show, no fancy arm waving to fake martial skill, just pure logic and efficiency.
Love both of you guys and everything you represent. Cheers
Lex, i don't think you have a chance against the guy who even both Captain Americas couldn't kill
Lex, I loved your performance as the lead in the show Lost! You're still killing it all these years later!
GSP outlined some great guidelines to follow from guard (Top)
1. Avoid hands on floor
2. Keep your head higher than theirs
3. Don't let them get an angle
this was probably the most useful martial arts video of all time explaining key concepts of hand to hand combat
This video is such a blessing!! I love and respect both these men so much. And its also amazing to see Lex go easy on Zuck vs whats happening with GSP. Lex is the fucking man and motivates me to be a better man myself.
🤩🤩🤩🤩
I loved hearing the advice! So cool! It's neat to think that there's almost a silent conversation happening between two people just with the moves. ✨️🦄👏👏👏👏
It's deeply amusing to see how easily GSP passes Lex's guard lmao, if you've ever trained against a black belt you know it's not an easy task, but George makes it seem like it's nothing. Just a testament to George's immense skill (even if Lex is not trying his hardest).
There’s a famous quote from danaher which he said "there’s black belts and there’s black belts"
we need more of these 'Sparring talks' really seamless and insightful!
Love these videos man. Love hearing raw knowledge from the goats
This will definitely end in a hug
I was gonna say, this looks like eerily manly hugging
Just to see how much fun GSP still has doing this is, is inspiring. The man lives for the sport. What a fun time. Jealous, Lex! Also, looking good my man! Maybe Elon can tag you in on that Zuck match. Zuck can team up with Dorsey.
His giggle every time he could unleash is awesome 😂
Gsp giggling after every takedown is so funny to me, that's my welterweight goat
This is such a valuable video GSP has a great way of explaining things
This was a fun video. Just people with a passion for what they do and having a great time doing it.
I enjoy the candid videos Lex puts out from time to time--I value them as much as his long-form discussions; whether it's Ram Jam in a self-driving car, playing RDR2 or discussing his favourite books. Lex is one of people you like more and more each time he shares a part of himself on his channel. Keep it up!
What an absolute privilege to train with a legend!
I love how there is no ego with Lex. He just wants to know what he needs to do to be better.
If you bring your ego into a sparring session with George St-Pierre you're inevitably going to get it crushed..
Lex has a massive ego irl. He just likes to play humble because it plays into his ego ironically, since people like you constantly praise him for his humbleness
This was great!
Love this. Best thing is watching GSP just play around and teach knowing at any second if he liked he could end it within 5 seconds. GSP IS the GOAT. No dispute. Bones, Khabib all just compete for 2nd place.
i love George.. what a gentleman
This is ky favorite thing I’ve watched on RUclips in a year!!! Luv GSP he’s the only reason I started watching MMA. What belt is lex?
Black
I believe he has his black belt
I know this is 100% ignorant but black belt is good right and it seemed like GSP was playing with him? I don’t mean that mean towards Lex at all. Am I wrong about this?
@@norwegianhero I’m not that dumb I know that.
@@mclaytv Yes black is good, but Lex has only been a black belt for a few years. GSP is just on another level, and has different viewpoints bc he's translated BJJ and Wrestling into MMA fights, Lex just does straight up BJJ.
GSP is so freaking smart! Looks like the deathsquad is there studying on the mat
I bet Danaher taught him a lot of this too. Such a Great Team
This is just great, thank you so much guys this is gold right here. I love the tip about being economic and not wasting unneeded energy so important
this was really neat Lex. definitely something id check out more of keep up all the good work you do brother. Thank you
Gap between enthusiastic amateur and world class is something that is hard to understand ☺️
