    Excellently assembled. Blue Hybrid is just one of those decks that I'm always tinkering with on the side, testing to see if it's the right environment for it to emerge again. With Lanamon and the new Ultimate Cup rule set, this might be the right time once again.

      @kevinski-tcg I'm new to the game. I'm curious about why security control and Grandin gets mentioned so much. I gravitated to and play bwgx black base.

    • @kevinski-tcg
      @kevinski-tcg  Год назад

      @@Zayelion Man, security control would be a monster of a video essay. It's basically because the deck exists just to frustrate people and cheese out wins by letting the opponent hit into your option cards while you constantly heal. It's not fun to play against and absolutely ruins some decks.
      Grandis is just one of many notorious OTK decks. It's stuck around the longest, and has a great BWGx matchup, so people hate it.

    I've been picking up more interest in Blue Hybrid since it's the only one I never built for BT8 (played red up until then). The BT12 cards add some diversity to it, fitting into both Koji and Tommy builds, but even outside of the decks, BH is a great engine and my preferred way to play MirageGaogamon.
    The essay is really well written, and I hope it helps build hype for the game and inspire more like it. Awesome stuff!

    • @kevinski-tcg
      @kevinski-tcg  Год назад +2

      As an engine, both the Tommy and Koji lines are fantastic. Lanamon is a fantastic addition since it gives you easy access to jamming.
      I love these cards so much that I will try every new (generic) Blue Level 6 with them first.

  • @DominatorLegend
    @DominatorLegend Год назад +4

    It should be noted that Gabubond decks from BT6 had Blue Hybrid splashes with people often including BT4's Lobo, Kendo and AncientGaruru. Granted, those weren't "Blue Hybrid" decks proper, but I think it's still worth mentioning if only because that was the only time AncientGaruru had a modicum of relevance.
    Anyways, I abandoned this game at thne beginning of BT11 (mainly because of my local's god-awful communnity and wanting to switch over to wargames), but your channel has picked up my interes. I think this game is now old enough to warrant its mini-documentaries like YGO does. Would like to see a video on D-Brigade or Machinedra.

    • @kevinski-tcg
      @kevinski-tcg  Год назад +1

      Oh totally. Gabubond was sadly something I had to cut for time. The early incarnations, especially those with AncientGaru were so cool, and there was actually a small group of players running the Ancient package with Gabubond in EX3, but again, had to cut it for time.
      Sorry to hear that BT11 might have turned you off the game. It's still in an iffy place as of BT12, but it's getting better and there's nothing wrong with picking up off-meta decks for a round or two.
      Machinedramon and D-Brigade are both decks that never die, lol, so I'm not opposed to covering them in the future.

    I actually play a Jamming Blue hybrid deck and it's very fun to play, but if you are faced against a BWM X there's literally nothing you can do to win. And they're extremely common as the Greymon ban has done practically nothing to make the deck less common and barely anything to make it less powerful. I believe the people who got high with them in tournaments must have done it because of good matchups not finding a single bwm along the way.

    • @kevinski-tcg
      @kevinski-tcg  Год назад +1

      Totally possible. I heard that the guy who got top 16 at Nats with Dorbickmon didnt face any BWGx until the round where one knocked him out.
      Matchup spread and local metas definitely matter.

    • @kevinski-tcg
      @kevinski-tcg  Год назад +3

      I think KoKabuterimon is technically Green's Level 3, though none of its cards support the strategy at all.
      I also heard somewhere that Tinkermon is Kazemon's Level 3, but again, no connection.
      Legit though, if they are going to refresh these decks, we need ways to cheat the tamers out like Strabi and Flamemon do.
      Don't let Takuya have all the busted support.

      There is no support I am waiting for more than revamped Blue Hybrids, especially Koji's line.
      My wish list is:
      - Koji with an actual on play effect, maybe draw one or recur a hybrid from trash
      - That same Koji gives an inheritable to prevent redirection
      - MagnaGarurumon Starlight Velocity Mode that bounces original from sources to spin a Level 6 or lower
      - Lobomon that plays Strabimon on deletion, with inherit to play Koji
      - KendoGarurumon that can unsuspend on the swing as long as you meet a condition like having Lobomon or Koji in the sources

      @kevinski-tcg  Год назад +1

      @@Estradamente So basically, BT14 gives Blue Hybrids access to a new Gomamon and Zudomon ACE, both of which make source stripping more powerful, provide extra aggression and defense, and let us basically work without a Level 6 if you don't like playing one.
      The new Joe Kiddo tamer also gives us more consistent memory gain, and the training options will allow us to search tamers. All huge buffs.
      BT15 has a Secret Rare MetalGarurumon that actually works very nicely as a boss monster for Blue Hybrids, stunning quite a fun Digimon and allowing you to multi-swing. It also gives you access to the various Blue Matt Ishidas as tamers for your hybrids kind of like GabuBond-Hybrid decks back in the day.
      Can't speak to GraceNovamon, but Dianamon is a source stripping Level 6 that can fit pretty nicely into Blue Hybrids, so that's exciting.
