I imagine every time it rains the entire pipe gets cleaned out. When I was younger I used to work on a core drilling rig, doing samples for mineral exploration. Occasionally while drilling properties that had been mined in the past we would hit old-timer shafts, mine shafts from way back that were never mapped properly, you never knew when you would hit one. It would usually be the end of that particular drill hole, once we were able to get the hole started again, but was really hard to do with all that drill steel wobbling around at the bottom of the shaft. This could be an old shaft, or a natural cave hard to tell. Judging from the roundness of the rocks I saw at the bottom, I initially would lean towards natural, but they could have easily been rocks tossed down from the surface years ago. Without seeing the area away from directly under the bore hole, I can't say for sure. The object at the bottom, resembles something we used to call an overshot and was used to recover the core tube from the core barrel. If this area is in an area that was mined in the past, that's my best guess on what happened. Ordinarily after samples are taken and the drill hole is shut down, a plug would be rammed down the hole and it would be cemented in to prevent surface water from contaminating the ground water in the area.
This spinning camera technique could be used super effectively in a horror film. Characters do something similar to find out what's down there-- just before the spinning camera is pulled back up into the pipe, we see something terrifying enter frame for a second-- but since the frame is spinning, we can't grasp what we saw and then it's gone. Maybe only the sounds it makes chase us up the pipe...
„Grave Encounters“ did something akin to this, with the ghost camera that had a film that needed to be developed later on. If the crew had ever made it out of the haunted asylum they would never have gone ghost hunting again. ^^

The piping and tubing at the bottom, and the width of the bore hole itself, indicates that this used to be a well. I happen to have a well just like this, though ours still has a steady water source. This one looks like there's been a breach or shift, and the opening up of a cave carved by the ground water source, which has lowered the water level itself. The real mystery is, with a well that modern, why is there no house nearby? Or foundation? Also, I see there's another, smaller pipe nearby, which looks appropriate for a backwash.
I don't see how this could be a well, granted I don't know much about them. The reason I can't see it is I don't understand how that piping we see at the bottom would have been installed without actual access to the bottom (and the "well" entrance is not large enough for a human, or even that other pipe to go down) They would need some way to get down there, which makes me think mine shaft makes more sense.

For any insect down there, the little stop the go-pro made was like a once in a lifetime chance to get on an elevator and out that hole. Hope someone took it!
It looks like there are some worms/maggots or something squirming around where it touches down, and when it reaches the pipe on its way up and starts scraping the wall, it looks like two of them fall off the gopro. At around 6:20
Looks like an old gas vent pipe that has been cut off, there was one at my old country bus stop that looked like an arrow pointing up to keep the rain out. If there was a leak in the natural gas line, it could bent so it wouldn't build up and cause a rather inconvenient explosion.

it's probably a vent for an old mine, you'd be amazed how many cities, towns, forests, empty plains, all sortsa places have decrepit mines in them, under them, all over, my town has them, they run beneathe the sewers and the town catacombs, the unfortunate part is when these aren't filled, they can cause sink holes to form.
Pretty sure that pipe is part of the drill they used to dig down there. Probably didn't expect a cave and that caused the drill to fall apart once it broke into that area.
@@sacripudding4586 If it was a drill, a void like that isn't enough to make them fall apart under most circumstances.
