COFFEYVILLE: The Citizens That Took Down the DALTON Gang (Part I)

  • The Dalton gang, Bob Dalton, Grat Dalton, Emmett Dalton, Bill Powers, and Dick Broadwell attempted to rob two banks at the same time on October 5, 1892. The robbery was a disaster. What could go wrong, did. Citizens of Coffeyville, Kansas, stood up to the bandits. This video follows the actions of all heroes and villains involved. I follow their footsteps step by step, shot by shot, and mistake after mistake made by the gang. This is a republication of a previous video which was mysteriously age restricted by RUclips. My theory is because one bandit was named Richard, but went by a naughty sounding nickname and a defender was named Cary Sea Man (get the idea?) Even if you’ve seen it before I think this one is worth revisiting. Personally, I think it’s my best.

    Whats sad with the age restriction you talk about at the end is as follows. Your trying to get the correct info to us the audience and you get censored but yet footage of comedians like the late Rodney Dangerfield, Richard Pryor, George Carlin & Etc. don't get censored at all. Sadly the world has gotten that way.

    All of the Dalton gang carried a brace of SA Colts that Bob had ordered for them.
    ruclips.net/video/8eS6wUFMr3A/видео.html
    In addition, Bob Dalton was a superlative marksman!
    Heck Thomas, one of the 3 Guardsmen, and the leader of the posse trailing the Daltons,
    has been documented as saying: Bob Dalton is by far the best shot in the territory!
    And he had won a number of shooting contest to prove it.

    I hope you take this in the way it is intended.
    I know your goal is history. However, Coffeyville was my home for many years; we thought the alley was haunted. The story you're telling is about a town that never catches a break. I think it would oly be right to at least research what that town has gone threw, specifically the flood and the oil spill. It also took unnecessary lives. It might not be "history," in your eyes but it's important. Especially to those of us who lived it.

    • @MMorbid
      @MMorbid  Год назад +2

      There is a limit to how much I can include in one episode. And did these things happen after this shootout? If so it would not have been relevant here because those events would not have been context for this shootout. I could do an episode about the flood and one about the oil spill, but they would be their own episodes. Audiences lose interest so fast you wouldn’t believe it. There are other episodes in Coffeyville I would like to do, Walter Johnson is one and I filmed the Brown mansion while I was there. I absolutely loved filming this episode, it may be my favorite. I think because of how much work Coffeyville has done to preserve and celebrate its history. Thanks for watching and commenting. I doubt I’m done with Coffeyville!

    • @MMorbid
      @MMorbid  Год назад +1

      BTW I am an actual historian and there are so many topics I want to cover that aren’t “famous.” I have covered a few on my channel and they just don’t get the views of stuff with nationwide recognition. I think as the channel grows and people become interested in watching something simply because I am covering it, I think I’ll be able to do some less well known and or more regional topics. In actuality the flood and oil spill you mention are more historically important events, than this gunfight. I suppose the average RUclipsr might not think so, but I’m not your average RUclipsr.
