You've inspired me to buy braided line (well, I was going to do that anyway) and get some bobber stoppers (they didn't have the other product). They were certainly not expensive, and I am on a very tight fishing budget (I'm married). I'm going to try this technique on my first day off, which is in 2 days! I'll let you know what happens! Roger, The Smiling BassHole
If you fish saltwater and use a leader, using a toothpick is the way to go but if your not using a leader then it could cause problems but usually not.
Sometimes a glass bead between the weight and the bait can work as an attractant from the "clicking" sound it makes. This works especially well with craw-style plastics.
Will installing a bobber stop on fluorocarbon leader damage the leader? It has to really kink the leader when it's doubled over allowing it to pass through the tiny holes of the bobber stop. I've had a couple breakoffs since using them and trying to find the cause.
If it's a concern, place it close to the end of the line, then move it up a little up the line after it's on, and then cut off the tag part that was pulled through the bobber stopper.
I am 5 years late coming here, but like the video and the tip. In a pinch, i use heavy braided line cut in 3" or 4" strips and attach them to the line via a uniknot in front of the weight. Tight in, trim the tags and you are done. If you get movement, just add another next to the first and that should "peg" with a cheap diy bobber stop.
Looks like the Peg It would pinch the line similar to using a toothpick. How does this not damage the line since it holds the line to the sinker as does a toothpick?
Man, don't use your mouth to wet lines, used to do that flying tying knots, until when fishing a high lake in the mountains, fed by a running steam from the ground, the side of mountain rock, thinking pure water, then saw deer swimming in it. Guess where they crap? Other wildlife? Local saltwater fishing gets closed every summer, bacteria levels are too high, someone, something dumping raw sewage into it, the city can't figure out where it's coming from, been years. A slight cut, high fever, etc, and who can guarantee exactly when it gets discovered?
25Patman To be clear, I'm not trying to sell anyone anything. I buy these myself...and they cost about the same as a box of toothpics, but they don't damage your line. Good luck!

Glad I could help. Let me know which tips helped the most. Looking forward to hearing much more from you.
Thx you so much, new to fishing and I just made up a few baits using the straw to keep weight close to bait. Thx for showing me the correct way.
You're welcome Aj Johnson! Thanks for watching.
Thank you! I was about to waste a bunch of bobber stoppers!
You're welcome A.J. DeGroot! Thanks for watching.
Great info! What size Peg It’s do you prefer? Small or Large?

Been using the tooth pick forever with no problems!
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Question: can you put a bead after the wieght? And what would be the purpose of the bead ( it would look like ‘stopper, wight, bead’)?
Sometimes a glass bead between the weight and the bait can work as an attractant from the "clicking" sound it makes. This works especially well with craw-style plastics.
this might dumb to ask but is it easy to use on braided line or will the braid burn the rubber from the friction?
Jimmy D Yes, you can use it on braided line. It works great!
Do u have to use pegs?
Would this be a good way to peg a weight to carolina rig instead of having to tie a swivel and a leader?
Yes, it can work as long as you're not in an area where you may get snagged a lot.
great video!
Thanks for the visit
Great video I really learn a lot from this video and your RUclips channel thanks
Nice! We love to hear feedback like this. Thanks for being a loyal viewer!
The pegs are 13.99 for 100 i bought a couple packs not knowing the price and went to pay....but work very well.
Are those stoppers sized for different lines??
Not that I'm aware of.

I think “how to”fishing videos need to show less water, boat, and faces and show more details with the hands and tackle.

That’s a good tip as well, Erc Ly. Thanks for sharing.
Good Stuff
Cool video
Crix Macea, glad I could help. Let me know which tips helped the most. Looking forward to hearing much more from you.
Always giving me the right answers when I need them the most! Keep it up! :-D
Hi Libo, glad I could provide value. Thanks for watching!
How do you remove a peg-it t stop to reuse the bullet weight?
It sticks out of the bottom. You can grab it there and pull it out.
Looks like the Peg It would pinch the line similar to using a toothpick. How does this not damage the line since it holds the line to the sinker as does a toothpick?
The peg is made of thin rubber. It won't expand and pinch the line like a toothpick does.
You can also use rubber band
So in other words.... what you don't want to do is not spend money.
havanger chakotae 😭
Usually when you go to re tie your line its broke
I dont use pegs.. I just knot it in place above the hook while I rig it up. simple.

I've been doing it for over 5 decades without any issues. The risk in freshwater lakes - if any - is very minor at best. You'll be okay.
well if you get away without spending money I think thats fine, also here in the north fish dont get so big , one would think toothpick would be fine

Toothpick works best. Cheap and easy to change. Never damaged my line.
I had some peg it things before i watched this video and they are absolute trash. Use a toothpick
Use a tooth pick and wedge it instead of wasting money on the same thing
If you watched the video, you'd know why that's not a good idea.
@@bassresource never had an issue like yours. Guess it works for some.
I’m a non-pegger
Great to meet you non-pegger!
