Finally, a reviewer who gets the whole 'soundstage projection'... arguably one of the most important points of gaming headsets! You are the best reviewer on RUclips because everyone skips that part or just doesn't understand that it exists! Thank you!
Man i was watching all the reviews on this headset and underestimated this video based on the sub and view count. But this turned out to be the best review with great detail and covering more ground. You seem like you really know you stuff and you're very articulate explaining them. i'm confident your channel will go big eventually and can't wait to see your future reviews
Thanks man! I freaking hope so. They are getting a bit long in the tooth now. Need USB-C versions with a functional DAC on console (without using optical). The new AS50 should have that, better battery life, better bass, and Bluetooth. Otherwise, at $300 it's getting out classed.
Hello! I currently own hyperx cloud II at first they felt amazing but now I want to find a headset that is lighter but has good sound quality ( I also would prefer if the shape of the headset wasnt too big) do you have any suggestions? Should I go for the ASTRO 10? How are you finding them?
Unexpected shout out at the end. I do try to watch most of your reviews because they're more detailed than your average tech reviewer, even for products that I know I'm not the intended audience. Like this one. I see this as a product for kids up to mid-teens with it's many colorways and smaller form factor. It's analog and plugs into everything no matter what system they're on. Seems like a pretty good value for the price, too. Definitely not for me, though. If anything, I'm ready to start pushing into the lower end of audiophile grade headphones. I know they're getting a bit old and maybe due for a model refresh, but would like to know what you think of the Sennheiser 800S.
I, too, watch Joe's reviews often even though I am not planning to purchase the kind of product that is being reviewed. I just like his way of reviewing products and as you mentioned he often brings up things that many other reviewers do not. Also his way of explaining things is very likeable and understandable.
Aaayy... I got you Rory! Thanks for the support as always. Yeah the A10 is good for what you and I both think it's designed for. The 800S is a pretty unique headphone closer to $2k. If you like maximum detail/airiness to your sound, they are top of the chart in that area. Very difficult to beat the sound stage of those under $2k. They lack bass however and can sound a bit cold depending on what you're listening to. The HiFiMan Arya Stealth is more forgiving. It still has incredible detail retrieval and openness, but just not as edgy as the 800S. The bass on the Arya Stealth is incredibly good. It's very controlled and full even below 20hz. It's my favorite under $2k. Another good option is the Focal Clears, which I think are closer to $1500. The have more punch/slam to them if you really want some meat behind the bass notes, but lack the resolution and airiness of the other two. I hope that helps!
I have this headset and I think the sound quality is amazing but the volume seems very low. I have the volume adjuster all the way up and my pc volume at 100 and games are still fairly quiet....
I ended up buying the set based on your review. I'm very happy with them so far. Perfect travel set for my laptop. I can toss them in my checkbag and don't have to worry about them being busted when I get to my destination. Thanks for the thorough review, you have a new subscriber..

Like im playing a song I Can hear whats going on and sometimes have bass but other than that its really really soft. my $10 no name headsets has better sound compared to this and I think something logitech should be alot louder . And the no name was $10 4 years ago.
You are so right, and this headset sounds respectably good (in my case for the PS5). Footsteps are pretty accurate, and surprisingly for a $59 dollars headset it does a very good job! As for the comfort, one of the best I have ever tried! (Small to medium ears recommended)
I had never used an Astro headset before so when these came out I managed to snag the Gen 1 A10's for $10 on Amazon and I was pleasantly surprised. For a backup headset to use for something like NHL or Call of the Wild when my main headset is charging, I am impressed. I have larger and oddly shaped ears so I'm not sure about how these Gen 2's will feel, but when they drop below $30 on sale I'll definitely snag them because I was so impressed with the previous model.
For those prices yeah that's an insane find! They really are great headsets for the money as long as you're good with the few faults they have. Every headset has their own traits that make them what they are.
This was so detailed and so much information I want to watch all the other videos of the headsets you compared them to lol.. I recently became a truck driver and I'm looking to buy a cheaper pair of headsets to leave in the truck and play there. Thanks for all the info and I might have to watch again to get the name of the other headsets you compared

I still have the first gen A10s (that I bought about 6 months ago for PS5) and they honestly sound exactly the same, maybe even slightly better/louder than the new V2s. These just aren't it for me, so buyer beware.

Hey, thanks for the review, I have a turtle beach headset for 60$ and I'm wondering if this is better than the turtle beach headset, I mostly play warzone on ps4 and wondering if this is good for warzone on ps4.
I got this same exact headset and I couldn’t hear or speak to people and could only hear videos on the side of the microphone the other had no sound. Terrible! Do not recommend
Wow this headset is perfect for me, the mic isn’t a issue since I have a microphone and I just plug in the cord into it so yea I’m definitely going to cop it!

If you had to recommend a headset based on the background noise cancellation, what would it be? I have kids, and the xbox is set up in the living room where they usually are. Is there one thats good at blocking that stuff out?
For some reason when I turn up thee volume on the mic I start to get an echo is the only way to fix it is to lower it down? Because then I can’t even hear my games
Awesome review man! Which headset would you recommend in the $100-$150 range? I play on Xbox Series X, and just returned an Arctis Steelseries 9X as the wireless connection is very unreliable and disconnects too often. I'll switch to a wired headset, but wanting good sound quality and good mic. My top in the wishlist is Razer Blackshark V2 at the moment. Thanks!!
Blackshark V2 is STELLAR for the $100 and below range. Great sound and comfort for sure! If you can somehow swing for the fences, the EPOS H6PRO is nuts. The Green version is on sale for $158 on Amazon right now, but even at $180 it's worth it.
smaller 32mm driver will affect the low pass sounds more than mids and highs, that a given if its 1 single 32mm driver, can't have it all at that spec and price point
They have stated that the A10 is for smaller kids not adults. That's why the eR cups are smaller. On Amazon the images for advertising also show them on kids or you g adults.
I do not really use them now, no. I cover too many headsets to use certain models for a long period of time. The A10 Gen 2 is one of the most durable headsets on the market though!
Great review. I’m looking into picking up a new headset after my stealth 300 swivel hinge snapped. Would you recommend I get this one? If not what headset should I upgrade to? I play on Series X.
What's your max budget? This is still a nice headset if the smaller ear cups aren't as much of an issue to you. Surprisingly it wasn't much of an issue for me.
@@GadgetryTech $100. And I’m not sure what the size of the ear cup for the stealth 300 is but it’s a bit on the small side for me so I think I would need something bigger.
@@wateriver if you can swing for and order the 600 Gen 2 USB edition that would make the most of your $100. Otherwise I would consider the Recon 200 Gen 2 or Blackshark V2X.

@@wateriver the 500 is amazing but not everyone likes the sound profile. They are crazy powerful but on controller output they aren’t being fully used to their potential that’s all. Soundblaster g6 makes every headphone shine massively I g6 hd599s astro a40s and even fifine h9s wht h for closed back £40 headphone are super super super sharp and detailed and the volume is endless
Thanks so much! I would have loved to cover that comparison but it was hard to justify purchasing it for that reason alone. Astro/Logitech do not send me any of the products I review from them, I have to buy it all. Hopefully someone posts an in-depth comparison video of them both. From what I read, the driver size is smaller on the Gen 2 compared to Gen 1, but it still sounds good. From what I can tell the Gen 2 actually sounds pretty decent for the price. I'm not sure how comfort or mic quality stacks up to the old one though.
@@GadgetryTech Totally understand that. I thought about upgrading to gen 2, but since the cups are smaller, I think I’m gonna pass. Thanks for the reply.
How you presented these beautifully, I really need to buy these headphones and I also have to become your subscriber. Keep up this beautiful and quality work. Good luck in life :)
There absolutely can be at louder volumes. It's one of the downsides to having a wired headset. In many cases, the microphone ground shares the same ground as the headset drivers (speakers), so at higher volumes you get cross talk a bit.
my A10 literally has too much bass in competitive shooters, you will barely hear footsteps because the bass over does it. There is no ability to change this because you need to buy a 100+ doller amp.
I’m late to the party, here because my internet provider is giving these away as a customer reward. (It was these or a “pet camera”) I’m somewhat of a sound buff and imo you didn’t babble but went from salient point to salient point and covered each point well. I expected this headset to be trashy but they seem to be cheap but decently engineered so I’ll try them on my PS5 instead of my wireless JBL “tune 510” which are very small, on-ear ‘phones with phenomenal battery life and decent sound but despite being very small they squeeze my giant head like they want to know where the missiles are hidden and I have to hold the power button down for a comical amount of time to turn them on and off so whenever I use them I always feel a bit like I’m being punked. I love lightweight cans🤓👍
I think so, the side extensions also don't go down very far, and with the budget price tag I'd say this is for the young gamers who don't want to spend too much.
It could also explain the durability focus too. Kids are rough on headsets! I was able to use these for a long time though and it was surprising they were as comfortable as they were.
Younger gamers haha I'm a grown woman and what sold me was the pretty colors. XD They definitely fit small ears BUT they are light enough to not hurt all of my piercings in my ears. Sometimes it takes a bit of adjusting before you find the sweet spot or they start to morph a little to your ears. C:
The warzone note sounds interesting, listening to JackFrags on the Call of duty beta that just started allot of the audio queues seem to have ramped up and now that the heartbeat sensor has a limited battery life audio will play a bigger part in pin-pointing where an enemy is coming from. ruclips.net/video/_14AnyAdmTU/видео.html - 5:45, 6:15, 6:35, 7:10 are some timestamps where the audio cues are enough to give him a good idea where the enemy is.
I would not buy this headset! I have been a long time supporter of astro, I had the a40s with mixamp way back in the ps3 days and I used the same headset for like 5 years! after using this a10 headset for less than 2 months the mic is going to shit, my friends in party say theres an echo every time i talk or if they talk, they also just dont get loud enough! astros with the next gen consoles just arent it anymore, if youre looking for a cheap headset the razer blackshark v2s are an insane bang for your buck for only $20-40 more

thanks for the details, i have the feeling I don't have to check more videos
For some reason I can’t get the mic to work but I can get the sound coming through headset, I’ve tried every input that I can even colour coordinated the aux in the input
Hey thnx for the great dedication to your videos! How do these compare to the steelseries nova 1, which ones do you prefer?
How’s sound quality when comparing gen1 vs gen2?
I just bought these for my xbox xs and they sound low almost like it has a volume restriction or something, I have the volume dial turned all the up and it sounds low
@@AndrewCr7that sounds like the headset was broken..
Damn near perfect review
are warzone 2 sound profiles similar to the ones you talked about for warzone 1
Wow this headset is perfect for me, the mic isn’t a issue since I have a microphone and I just plug in the cord into it so yea I’m definitely going to cop it!
Hey man so as far as the mixamp goes whats the sound quality that plugged in
Also I want to buy these for the ps5 so I was wondering during wjat the sound quality on that is with these headphones
Also I love the warzone reference thats what I'm trying to find a headset for
Mix amp for the a10 or a40 tr mixamp?
If you had to recommend a headset based on the background noise cancellation, what would it be? I have kids, and the xbox is set up in the living room where they usually are. Is there one thats good at blocking that stuff out?
This helped a lot just got these for $25 off amazon
For some reason when I turn up thee volume on the mic I start to get an echo is the only way to fix it is to lower it down? Because then I can’t even hear my games
How is ur astro a10 gen 2 mic like that? Mine is very loud screechy static
So this headset is around the 8.5 out of 10 or 9.5 out 10.
Great Review !
Mic doesn’t mute when flipping
smaller 32mm driver will affect the low pass sounds more than mids and highs, that a given if its 1 single 32mm driver, can't have it all at that spec and price point
They have stated that the A10 is for smaller kids not adults. That's why the eR cups are smaller. On Amazon the images for advertising also show them on kids or you g adults.
Hi! Do you use them? How is it using them like a long term headset?
I do not really use them now, no. I cover too many headsets to use certain models for a long period of time. The A10 Gen 2 is one of the most durable headsets on the market though!
Great review
@@GadgetryTech what are your thoughts on the stealth 500? I’ve been doing research and it seems this might be the best option for under $100. It has a 3.5 mm jack which I also want.
@@wateriver the 500 is amazing but not everyone likes the sound profile. They are crazy powerful but on controller output they aren’t being fully used to their potential that’s all. They are crazy comfortable as well. Honestly if you are good with slightly warmer sound (nice full bass range into the mids, smooth highs) they are great.
Do you think the comfort is better than the Astro A10 gen 1? I’ve got worn in gen 1s that aren’t very comfy but love every other aspect of them.
i have the gen ones and 2s the gen ones are a little more heavy then 2s but the sound quality on the gen ones are better than 2s the gen ones are more bass and the gen 2s sound hollow
So do you suggest them for a main cod player or should I go for the cheapest black shark I don't remember the name of them but I had the a10 1gen and I was very happy for had I got but not about 1 or 2 months the game change dramatically the audio and I don't hear footsteps that good so should I get them or should I got for a black shark
I think the A10s have a better tune for CoD but the BlackShark V2X is better for music.
@@GadgetryTech so I better go with the a10 right? Also thank you for answering so fast
@@Pegasus_Gr for CoD yeah I would. Both are great though. No problem!
@@GadgetryTech thanks for the help
hey did you end up getting these again?
im planning on getting them but worried i won't b able to hear enemy footsteps & all that
How would you rate the mic on the astros gen 2? I’m looking to grab some for streaming I’m use to owning tritton headset and they have a really good mic
Did you ever pick up a headset? Looking to get one for streaming.
Should I buy gen 1 or gen 2 of these I am really confused have a 50$ budget need a headset with a detachable cord as I break my cord after a month or so
Thnx
I was thinking of buying a gaming headset like HyperX cloud Alpha S or Razer Blackshark V2 etc but ordered a Hifiman Deva today to see what planars are about. Hopefully it'll be good for movies, gaming etc
How is it?
Update?
@@Arthur-tz7ye Hifiman Deva wasn't good, both comfort wise and sound wise. Returned it and bought HyperX Cloud Alpha, average sound and average comfort. Mic volume is low too. Then bought Sennheiser EPOS GSP 600. Average comfort but superb sound and superb mic
I wonder what is the sub 100$ that has the best mic to cancel ambience audio.
Are the earcups the same a the gen 1s?
They are upgraded but I haven't tried the gen 1 in forever so I cannot recall how it compares!
When’s that VZR review coming?!
I hope this week. I got incredibly sick this week but tested negative so I hope to be good by Monday!
Have to send my wireless headset in on warranty bc of a issue and I grabbed these for 60 (40 bc I had a gift card) and honestly I really really like um…I have a smaller head and they’re literally perfect sized…I might keep them as my main bc of how good they sound with the victrix gambits built in atmos
A10's with a40 tr mix amp boosts the sound lvl.
Soundblaster g6 makes every headphone shine massively I g6 hd599s astro a40s and even fifine h9s wht h for closed back £40 headphone are super super super sharp and detailed and the volume is endless
Mine sound like when you use AirPods is that normal?
simple answer here. if you dont have much time to play aka you are a casual gamer then yes, hardcore get something else
Can you please review Victrix Gambit headset🙏🏼
One question?
Are these stinkin cozy?
I can smell how cozy they are from the video.
I’d like to know how this compares to A10 gen 1. Great review btw.
Thanks for the reply.
gen 1s are considerably worse than the gen 2s. I have smaller ears so I think the smaller ear cups wont be an issue
can these work for ps4?
Definitely
I need to know why I can hear game but can’t hear my friends talk but when I switch to chat audio I can hear them. I can’t do both
How you presented these beautifully, I really need to buy these headphones and I also have to become your subscriber. Keep up this beautiful and quality work. Good luck in life :)
Is this headset compatible with the ps4, can't seem to figure it out😅😅
It is
Only problem I have when using it on ps5 when I put mic down no one hear me any help
Bro that’s how it’s supposed to be dummy 😭🤦🏽♂️
What mix amp is that??
Astro Mixamp Pro TR
hey if anyone can answer, is there any echo when in a party w friends?
thanks.
There absolutely can be at louder volumes. It's one of the downsides to having a wired headset. In many cases, the microphone ground shares the same ground as the headset drivers (speakers), so at higher volumes you get cross talk a bit.
@@GadgetryTech ok appreciate da reply! 👍🏻

my A10 literally has too much bass in competitive shooters, you will barely hear footsteps because the bass over does it. There is no ability to change this because you need to buy a 100+ doller amp.
I’m late to the party, here because my internet provider is giving these away as a customer reward. (It was these or a “pet camera”)
I’m somewhat of a sound buff and imo you didn’t babble but went from salient point to salient point and covered each point well.
I love lightweight cans🤓👍
these can be good for your younger
children
Does anyone have audio problems with it? I just bought it and the audio sounds awful?
if you’re using them on a new gen console it could be a setting issue. on my ps5 i had to enable 3d audio and it sounded super good
@@bloodshed3523 idk maybe that was it but I returned them already
I like your reviews
When plugged in, it doesn’t show as connected under Microphone settings. Makes me use my ps5 controller mic only. Garbage
Not sure why the ear cups are so small, it's like they purposedly designed this headset for people with baby ears lol
I was wondering the same. Could it be targeted for younger gamers?
Great fucking video about order them now 👍🏽
I feel like these things are so quiet
The mic doesn’t work 🫠
Same
I would not buy this headset! I have been a long time supporter of astro, I had the a40s with mixamp way back in the ps3 days and I used the same headset for like 5 years! after using this a10 headset for less than 2 months the mic is going to shit, my friends in party say theres an echo every time i talk or if they talk, they also just dont get loud enough! astros with the next gen consoles just arent it anymore, if youre looking for a cheap headset the razer blackshark v2s are an insane bang for your buck for only $20-40 more
Id promote this headset if i knew how to make a decent video.
No they not worth 60 bucks not at all hyper x are better if you getting the 60 bucks one.

Hey! Don’t forget that Jesus Christ loves you and he died for you have a blessed day ❤
Could you not
Shout out to Jesus
Ahahahahaha😂😂😂😂
a10 gen2 audio is so ass for games
how do you guys say its good
still can't get audio, but I can chat
An honest to god terrible headset, returned it after using it for two minutes.
