Hello and welcome to another Unboxing video from BOAB Models. Today we'll be unboxing the Williams Renault FW16 Formula 1 car from 1994 which was driven by Ayrton Senna, Damon Hill, Nigel Mansell and David Coulthard. The kit is in 1/20 scale from Fujimi and was first released in 2010.
The Williams FW16 is a Formula One car designed by Adrian Newey for the British Williams team. It is notable as the last car to be driven by three-time world champion Ayrton Senna before his fatal accident during the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix. Its engine was a Renault RS6 3.5 V10.
Following a disappointing and then tragic first 3 races, the car was competitive, with Hill losing out to Schumacher in the race for the title in controversial circumstances at the final round in Australia. However, Williams did claim the Constructors championship.

Great review Thomas, you go into a lot of detail when explaining the contents and that's fantastic. I'm not much into F1 however I still enjoyed watching the contents of this kit, made me appreciate F1 kits better. Well done 👍👍

Glad you enjoyed it! F1 kits are quite different to standard cars and there's less room for making mistakes. Definitely get one if you can!

Nice to see what this F1 car was like as I've only built the earlier FW07 in the Williams , Looking forward to your build Thomas.

Thanks a lot Allan. I've made the similar looking FW19 but that's a Revell so 1/24 and much less detail than this one.

Nice unboxing Thomas! Looks like a nice kit. Sorry to hear of the tragic ending of that driver. He was doing what he loved. Look forward to the build.

Many thanks Richard. If you wanted to learn more about him, there was an outstanding documentary 'Senna' made about 10 years ago which I highly recommend.

That is a nice kit. I got one, with the intention of building Damon Hill's British GP winner. But I am having difficulty sourcing the correct "Racing" decals.

Great idea - strange that it's hard to find the hidden sponsor decals. Have you tried looking on Scalemates?

Another nice review, unfortunately of a car that does not bring good memories. This should be a great build!

Thank you. Yes, of course. I didn't follow F1 when Senna had the accident so I pretty much associated this car with Damon Hill when I was young.

The 86 and 92 Tamiya Willaims kits were awesome, still have them. Now getting the 94 kit, I just hope the steering rod isnt broken.

One of my ultimate Williams cars for various reasons. Senna last and the rightful winning championship car of 1994. What should have been the title car.

You're not wrong - my earliest F1 memory was the Schumacher Vs Hill title rivalry. Have you got one of these kits?

That's a nice bit of a box art to be fair. And there's definitely plenty of sprues and parts isn't there! 😂 I look forward to seeing this getting the boabmodels treatment

Thomas, these good year logos on tires from Fujimi are wrong. They actually are smaller and written with another kind of letter. I dont know if is possible to you to get the correct ones...

Ok thanks Diego. I do have some Goodyear stencils so maybe those will work better.

How do I know if it is necessary to prime the parts?

    • @BOABModels
      @BOABModels  2 года назад

If it's the bodywork, I'd prime it to help the main paint stay. It also depends what colour the plastic is. If the parts are dark or bright, priming is a good idea to stop the base colour coming through. Also, if using acrylics, they can rub off if the parts aren't primed first
