Look forward to seeing this build up. I remember when first seeing Gunze sangyo kits back in the old days, was excited with what they did, motorsport wise :) If memory serves i think I found the kits challenging but that was back then, and yes the MX-5 was based on the Lotus Elan, the Mazda people actually went to Lotus to get ideas, I've read that the MX-5 MK1 was the next Elan which wasn't produced but don't know if that's accurate. model on.
Thanks Sarah Jane. Were some of the Gunze cars also released by Airfix? I also learnt the Elan made in the '90s was also rebadge as a Kia but only sold in Asia.
Holy cow, a fiver! Very lucky, an absolute bargain. These kits are really sought after, they usually each come in two varieties, a plain vanilla and one with metal and etch bits. I only have a basic Sprite one. The downside of these kits are the odd vinyl interior parts.
@@BOABModels Wow, 50£ seems to be still a "good" price. I was googling this model out of curiosity just after watching this video and I saw a couple on eBay going for 100€ or more 😑😑😑
This is a great kit, this version is not that rare. You can still find for around 30 Euros in germany but 5 pounds is s great deal. 😊 The rare version of this kit is the full white metal engine version. I have rhat one in my stash still pending 😅😅 and looking forward to see what you do with thia kit to get some inspiration. 😊
Absolutely that's the rarer version, but I still think this is the rarest kit I currently own. I certainly wasn't going to turn it down for that price.
Cool kit, I think the folded down roof being rubber seems good because it has a nice texture. £5 is a real bargain too!
Thanks for the unboxing! Looks like an interesting kit. Be nice to see the buildup. 😎
Thanks Richard.

@@BOABModels I don't think so, I think Gunze shared with Fujimi though. i had the Porsche 959 kit, rothmans, but not sure what happened to it.
@@BOABModelsAirfix reboxed the Gunze 250GTO, TR2, Sprite and E-Type. These were the fancier kit versions with etch etc

That is quite cool. Interesting kit. Love the chassis frame. So unique.
Absolutely and thanks for watching. An evolution of this chassis, with a mid engine layout, would be used in the Esprit and DeLorean.
Iconic choices here; the Emma Peel or Gold Leaf
Very true! I actually saw a Gold Leaf coloured Elise on the road just last week.
I am beyond jealous!
Haha my apologies! I saw one of these go for £50 on eBay just a week before finding this. So lucky.
