What Venus did in 2000 was very impressive. She missed the first 5 months of the year through injuries. She came back some few weeks to the French Open where she lost in the quarter finals to Aranxta Sanchez Vicario. The fact that she was able to go on a 35 match win streak and won so many big titles that year was extremely impressive. Injuries cut short her year again, and so she couldn't compete for the year end championship. She was the best player in the world in those 5 months she played even though her rankings didn't reflect it.

Don’t think we will see this much power and pure ballstriking ever again in many eras to come. Venus didn’t catch it as clean as often as Lindsay early on, but man she could move well…

I wonder how Davenport felt in 2000 losing back to grand slam finals to the same player. Davenport lost 3 out of her 4 grand slam finals to Venus. Interesting that year it was Davenport who ended Venus 35 match winning streak in 2000.
