    The problem is not even with wrong calls but that if there was a hawkeye eye, the player would not feel that he was unfairly judged . This would not impact the psychology so much. It's ok to miss but it's bad when you feel that you have been mis-judged.

      technology would certainly help. but the rules are the same for everyone and strangely enough, it is always the same players who do not accept the referee's verdicts: fognini, rublev, kyrgios etc.. one point, in the second set as in this case, at 2-2 and not real break point, it does not affect a match . if a player is unable to accept a referee's decision, then he will never be part of the elite of players. sinner lost a tournament due to a bad decision and responded superbly. rublev is always the same and that's why despite his talent, at 27 he hasn't won anything important for a top 10 yet

    If Rublev wouldn't be a tennis player I could imagine him as some sort of tragic writer or philosopher. When he plays tennis you can see that something much bigger is going on. He's not just playing to win. He's constantly struggling with his inner self and the surroundings that he is a prisoner of. Playing tennis is his passion but it can't get him final satisfaction. Andrey fights hard but he's constantly confronted by the imperfections of himself and the world around him. The court, the umpire, the opponent, his own game, he can try to fight it all but at the end there won't be a perfect match no matter how hard he tries. Even if he wins the frustrations eat up all the joy. All the work is for nothing because even in a win you produce many unforced errors and a great match can still be stolen by a bad call of the umpire or a string snapping at an unfortunate moment. The other players lack the understanding of the truths that have already occupied Andrey's mind. There is no satisfaction and peace in this universe. All what is left is the struggle. Life is totally random and has no purpose. Just like a match of tennis. You can scream at the stars or the umpire, the universe doesn't care.

    I do sympathize with Rublev on the line call. Part of the problem here is the inevitable blurring of clay court lines with play. And in this case, I certainly can’t see that ball intersecting the “obvious” line section. The raised area to the right of the line (which appears slightly lighter and smoother than the rest of the clay) is almost certainly touched, however. Tough one.

    • @Funkytrip73
      @Funkytrip73 8 месяцев назад +3

      Exactly. It's one of those markings that gets slightly lost in an already 'clayless' side of the line. Of course, the ball marking is not nice and symmetrical since you miss part of the marking but because of that you also cannot really see if the ball hit the line or not, especially if it's really close.

    Bad line calls happen. Most accept it and move on, others, they let it percolate.

    • @just2share
      @just2share 8 месяцев назад

      I gave the pic from 0:37 to ChatGPT 4o and it called it out, here is detailed explanation:
      **Why the Ball is Out: A Detailed Explanation**
      Upon close inspection of the provided image, several key observations confirm that the ball is out. Here is a step-by-step analysis:
      1. **Position of the Ball Mark**: The ball mark is clearly visible as a dark, oval-shaped imprint on the clay surface. This mark appears entirely to the right of the white line.
      2. **Examine the Sand Pattern**: Initially, it might appear that the ball touched the line due to the brushed-off appearance of the sand between the ball mark and the line. However, this brushed-off appearance can be misleading.
      3. **Consistency of Sand Disturbance**: By carefully observing the entire length of the white line in the image, you can see that the sand looks similarly brushed off above and below the area near the ball mark. This indicates that the brushed-off sand is likely due to maintenance and is not specific to the ball’s impact.
      4. **Visual Clarity of the Line**: The white line is clearly visible and well-defined against the clay surface. The ball mark, on the other hand, is entirely within the clay area and does not touch the white line. There is a distinct separation between the ball mark and the line, with no overlap observed.
      5. **Absence of Overlapping Marks**: For a ball to be considered in, any part of the ball mark must touch the white line. In this image, there is no indication that the ball mark intersects or overlaps with the line. The visible space between the mark and the line confirms that the ball landed outside the boundary.
      6. **Condition of the White Line**: Observing the white line near the ball mark, it is evident that the line is still covered with sand. If the ball had made contact with the line, it would have cleaned off the sand from that part of the line due to the impact. Since the white line remains fully covered with sand, it further indicates that the ball did not touch the line.
      In conclusion, based on these detailed observations, it is clear that the ball did not touch the line. The initial impression that the ball might have hit the line was influenced by the misleading appearance of the sand, which upon further scrutiny, is shown to be a consistent feature along the line rather than an indicator of contact.
      Therefore, the ball is out.

In that case Sinner had all the time to stop and ask the umpire for an overrule, which he didn’t and thus he suffered the consequences of a wrong decision, not only from the line judge and the umpire but also himself. What an absolute incompetence from the umpire. It is clear as daylight that the mark curves itself. And a mark can't curve, it's uniformly oval. the part that touches the line (and appears as being curved) as you can clearly see up above on the sideline is from the brush that cleaned the line at the beginning of the set. You would expect an umpire to know this stuff and yet they don't, and we the audiences know this stuff and we are neither paid nor are we experts in this sort of stuff. Unbelievable.

    If the judge has even the slightest doubt, it should be judged as out, because even if it’s caught by a millimeter, it’s a bad hit and the ball is all behind the line and nothing reprehensible will happen here. And if it is in fact an out, but is accepted as a hit, then this is a blatant injustice. You have to choose the lesser of two evils.

    To say he has a weak mentality only because he rages fast is a nasty judgement. Rublev is the number 6 of the world and has won some great tournaments. You wouldn’t achieve that with a weak mentality. I for myself don’t want to see robots play on the court without the slightest of emotions. That’s goes for other sports as well. It would be dead boring. Plus we’re all just humans. I enjoy seeing them cheering themselves up, raging from time to time when something‘s not going their way, celebrating when they finally get the victory. It’s part of the game. I always chuckle when I see Rublev raging, reminds me of myself in some situations. But obviously the rage goes too far when it results in insulting others.
