This video sent me down memory lane. It's very surprising this turned out to be her last us open title even though she won 5 more slams after this. Am also happy Wozniacki won a slam in 2018.
This match against Wozniacki is alot straight forward than her two previous tough 3 sets battle against Azarenka in 2012 & 2013. She had a lucky escape in 2012 final Azarenka was 5-3 up in the 3rd set. This was the first time in Serena career she won 3 consecutive titles at the same grand slam and it turn out to be her last US open title.
I don’t like to think that today’s female players are less skilled than these players (Serena, Wozniakci, Henin, Hingins, etc) but watching this match is hard no to say these were sooo much better players than new players
If Caroline would have had a bigger FH she could have really won so many more points. She could keep up with Serena at times but Serena was moving her around way to much
Sabatini, Novotna & Pierce were far superior than Ivanovic, Jankovic & Wozniacki. Graf played Navratilova 6 times, Evert one times, ASV 7 times, Seles 6 times, Sabatini 3 times, Davenport & Hingis one times in a slam final. That's tougher than Serena's slam finals opponent. And BTW during Graf's era players like Novotna, Sabatini & Pierce were never ranked as #1. That's you called a tough era.
@@carrerau7138 The fact that work players like Jankovic, Ivanovic, Safina, Wozniacki, Azarenka, Kerber could win slams and/or get to number 1 shows how weak that era was. None of those players would of won slams or got to number 1 on Swiatek watch. We see how they look right now in the Swiatek era, they're not top 30 material.
The fact that you expect the Williams sisters to be able to compete with men is just mind boggling. The average man is far stronger and faster than the average female. Serena even admitted she wouldn't stand a chance in men's tennis, so I don't know where this is coming from. None of the female all time greats can compete with the top 200 or even 300 in men's tennis.

Unspeakable queen, we miss you
Golden era. ❤
Yes, an era in which a great like Wozniacki could only be #1 for 71 weeks must have been the Golden Era!

That wasn’t luck she just played better than Azarenka when it mattered. Azarenka got tight and Serena’s mental toughness took over
This is the match that Serena admitted that she is very nervous. Wozniacki is really like a wall here. ❤️💪🏻❤️💪🏻❤️💪🏻
The full final would be nice :)

The GOAT in action♥️♥️♥️🌹🌹
John Tesh... Did she really win the game or did Serena just (mistake) it to her.
Very rude statement.

When Queen Rena went back to back to back on ‘em ‼️💪🏼🔥🧡
Ohh I miss Ma Williams she
made sure!!!
❤❤❤😊😊
🫶
Absolutely weak era with hardly any ATG talent emerged.
What?
In 2008-17 (when Serena won 15 of her 23 slams) greats like Jankovic, Ivanovic, Safina, Wozniacki, Azarenka, Kerber were #1! What competition!!
@@carrerau7138😂😂
@@carrerau7138Compared to Graf who had to beat greats like Zvereva, Shriver, Fernandez, Novotna, Pierce, Sukova, Sabatini and others.

Both Serena and Venus lost to the 203rd ranked male tennis player.
Serena was 16 and it was a practice set without a crowd but okay.
what is your point girl ?
Even peak Serena would have no chance against the # 1,000 ranked male player.

She was 16 let’s move on. How much did that man accomplish in his career vs her? Look around everybody on mute!
