    Thank you. I've learned so much about myself learning how to do this. Like getting over fear of wrecking or wasting it. Being too cautious. Letting go of it having to be perfect. And just doing it. Who'd think all my issues would be resolved ..or at least looking at my issues. But it's just paint. Just paint. Just do it. The sky won't fall in. I never thought I was that cautious. So I'm just doing it. Haha. Thanks.

    So there's a great technique that I learned from Olga for stabilizing the back of a canvas. I'm sure you could work it out, even if it is a bigger canvas. By using two pieces.
    Anyway.
    What she does is use the foam boards that you might make a science project presentation thing on. You find them next to the poster boards in the school section at Walmart.
    Basically, you cut it to the size of the back of the canvas minus the boards, making sure to cut out a small notch in one of the corners so that you can pull it out later. I find that it really stabilizes the canvases nicely. And as I mentioned, you could probably snugly fit two of them together if necessary, for a larger canvas like this. But I do also find that using the water technique works to tighten it pretty well too.

    I am really diggin' that painting too! I love autumn colors more than any other and that is what I see in your painting. I do have a question or two because this is the first video I have ever seen of yours I believe and I just subscribed. Usually, the artists I follow always use GAC 800 in their paint for cracking purposes. Unless I missed something, you poured the paint straight out of the can with no additives, correct? Also, could you direct me to one of your videos that has your recipes for painting and the cell activator? Well, I will be watching many more of your videos and I am very happy that I came across this one. And by the way, I LOVE THE TILES. I hope you are gonna put them on the floor of your bathroom or as a backsplash in the kitchen or something? Thanks so much.

      so what do you do with the excess paint after it collects in the tray? That's always been my question. I couldn't afford to do this type of cool stuff if you have to use one half gallon of paint just for the pillow, yikes.

    • @hillary6563
      @hillary6563 Год назад

      @@judijohnston5011 It's all dependant on the size of canvas you're working with... I could give an exact paint amount for a 12 x 12 , though not necessarily off the top of my head for any random size. Not all canvases are created equal. I highly recommend taking advantage of Michael's semi-annual sale which happens to have amazing deals on gallery wrapped canvases.

    What always amazes me with this - especially with your work - is how the cells reflect the shapes you see in natures art - butterfly wings cobwebs bubbles like a practical application of the mathematics of chaos - turning maths and randomness into art that is so attractive - that so draws you in that you can’t take your eyes away from it- shows that random art is the source of creation - sorry forgetting or spiritual and you’re there but I find art a spiritual experience

      No silicone in this painting, it was cell activator for the bloom pours used in a swipe. If you have Australian floetrol it’s an easy recipe (3 parts floetrol to 1 part Amsterdam onyx black) if you are using regular floetrol the recipe is a bit more complicated.

    Hi, I'm new😊 I've only ever poured once, I'm still scared!
    Stoopid question time, is there a difference between making the pillow by pouring the base coat directly in the middle and I've seen other channels use a Spatula to spread out the base coat.
    It seems the Spatula spreads quicker and it looks like it used less paint too.
    What is the difference?

    • @PurplePenny13

    • @nicolepsy
      @nicolepsy 2 года назад +1

      In case you're still wondering, I've never used this "paint pillow" technique (on purpose, lol), but when he mentioned it possibly cracking (also called crazing), that is caused by too much paint pooling. The top dries first and cracks.
      Most of it got distributed by the spinning, so that probably wasn't an issue, but if you aren't going to spin, I would spread it out.

    Beautiful! The color pallet is amazing. Your title, "Attitude of Gratitude" is what caught me. Your work kept me watching. If I could guess, this was a pink cloud moment. I had that and named a painting after it. You do beautiful work. I laughed at your comment about paper towels, I buy them buy the case now. Just don't set them on fire like I did with the torch! I think you would like another artist on here a LOT. Her name is Sara Taylor. Styles are different, but yet similar. Also, Cathleen from COZ Creations. I learned so much from them both, and I have the personality type of a Mr. Know It All, so that says a lot. Your swiping technique and spinning is great, I cannot swipe to save my life. I am looking forward to watching your other videos.

    Your painting looks amazing and awesomely beautiful. If I were to pick a title for this piece, I’d probably call it circulation of a major artery! That is what it looks like to me! I’m sure impressed with how well it looks with just four colors!❤❤❤!!!!!

    Not bad at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Would love to have seen the dried and resined. Did you ever think about putting a bit of bling in there eg : a bit of bronze or gold?? Add a bit of shimmer to catch the light? Thanks for West Oz BTW the volume was a little soft, couldn't hear you whenever you walked away and I was on 100% on my video and PC

    Wow, that's that's a gorgeous creation. I like that you know when to stop. It frustrates me when the artist overdoes the process. I'm like, STOP! STOP! STOP! Haha. 😂 Happy painting x

    I tried this..on a 12x12 tile... I couldn't get my CA right!! I washed it in the hose and have come back to study more. I just love the way it moves when you spin it.
    By the way, how did it dry? Is it ok???

    Love this and that you're a guy (no offense ladies).
    Also, what is the "cell" activator that you refer to and is the house paint acrylic or latex? I'm allergic to latex to I can only use acrylic.
    Thank you for sharing your work!!😎😍

    I don't know if it's the caramel/coffe colors or the foamy/creamy white but an expresso with whipped cream would be heaven right know... Anyone else? Also thank you for sharing, as always beautiful work!

    My question is since it's such a big canvas and the paint is going to be so heavy in the center why don't you use like a 18 by 18 solid board the same thickness underneath the canvas so it cannot sink in the middle of it and it will stay flat all the way across so you don't have to worry about the crazing or cracking as it dries. I have done this and it helps a lot. I have also found them instead of using droppers or cups just keep my paints mixed in squeeze bottles which makes life so much easier and I have no waste of paint by mixing it in the cups. I love watching your videos because you're always so upbeat and positive it just makes my day. Especially if I'm having one not-so-good. You make me smile and I thank you for that. I have to honestly say this painting I'm not a fan of this painting just my opinion. But I absolutely love, love, love the green one you showed it in the beginning. Do you have a video of how you did that one? That one to me is absolutely gorgeous Also do you have a video of the four by fours you did?

    Hi J! What is that device you use to add the lines of paint on the pillow? btw, you can get those 'strainers' at the $$$ Tree stores. Ones with the handles and the no handle ones to go over the floetrol bottles or whatever...2 sizes on the card for a buck :-). Always looking to save! Also, loving the video and cringing along with you at the amount of pillow paint....yikes!

    I’ve been watching a lot of the top artists in this field of painting and thought I’ve only ever seen 1 other male artist. So with the luck of RUclips one of your videos came to attention, and so far watched 3 and I love this one with it’s minimal composition. It’s been a couple of years since I first tried this art form and now thanks to you and the other great content by your fellow artists, I am inspired and I’ve learnt a lot. Like this picture very much and your style of narration. 😊
