That looks so very comfortable! It's an actual upcycle with very little to buy, and that makes me happy! So SO many of these are basically: "Sad couch + $500 worth of stuff + technical knowledge that we won't show you on the video, + some work my brother's wife [a professional couch maker] did reframing the whole thing + super expensive fabric that she just had laying around her professional shop where she and her employees make furniture and they attached it + three throw pillows @ $120 EACH that my sister picked out = completely DIYd couch, see how EASY it is?!! Oh, and I even picked up these feet from another couch that was at an antique co-op, and only paid $70 each for them! I did it all on my own!!"
THIS DIY is real and for those of us who have about $10 to spend! Thank you so much for the video, and for showing people what one really can do with some elbow grease and the willpower to actually do it!! Thank you, great video!!!!
I get this! I think the difference is that various people have different ideas about what is expensive. Having 6 children, mine is on the more frugal end. ;) Sounds like I'm in good company! Thanks for sharing your ideas with me!! I'm honored by your compliments!
You are kind. I have an old davenport which I'd just LOVE to do up the fancy way, but the main problem I have with it is that it's not as comfortable as it looks. (Also, people don't stuff my mailbox with money, but that's an altogether different issue. [But if you know the solution, I'm all eyes and ears!]) This video is where I will be stopping when I finally get to do that beautiful beast, because I'm guessing that just maybe a bit more liberal application of foam will alleviate that 'un-comfiness'! You have a lovely, lovely day, and while you'd already gained a subscriber, you've also gained a fan who will be telling her friends and family about your channel. I'm going to go check out some more of your videos...take care!! :-)
Oh wow!! What a sweetheart you are! I am humbled by your kind words. People don't stuff my mailbox with money either. LOL! I look forward to seeing more of you here and appreciate your goodness. I hope you are able to make your davenport super comfy and a great place to find joy!!
When I do, I will send you pictures, or a link to a video...somehow!! ;-)
That would be AWESOME! I hope it works well for you and would love to see pics and or a video!!
Glad I found this! So expensive to buy a new couch or even a second hand one.
Ended up using an old foam mattress we had at home, about 10cm thick and using the old filling to fill out the front, hide my uneven cutting and make it a bit softer. Perfect support for my husband and durable enough for my 2 year old jumping all over the couch. Works great!
The restored couch looks amazing. And it's such a simple fix. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for your kind comment Debbie!!
I just bought a couch at a thrift store, and plan to use your tips to keep it looking decent. Great tip, thank you for sharing!
So glad to hear this Debra! I hope your new to you couch lasts for many years!
All I've got to say LIFESAVER... for us who's on a budget and wanna have a nice home.... Thanks a bunch
This comment made my day! Thank you Susan.
When the baby flew in the frame to jump on the couch I laughed so hard! So cute!
I was impressed with his athletic skills! He must have jumped from quite a height/distance.
My couch is grandkids♡ I won't trade it for nothing my grandchildren come over and I feel so comfortable with them being comfortable now I can fix my so sad couch..Thank you!
Oh, I LOVE your perspective. Your grandchildren must feel very loved!
You just saved my brain from overheatting. I bought an oversized chair at the salvation army for $10. And it looks like your before couch. And I have been trying to figure out how to revitalize it. Thank you.
Awesome!! I hope it turns out amazing!!
how that kid literally flew down onto the couch lmao
Oh wow,you did a great job!! I will surely keep this in mind when I'm ready to upcycle my family's sofa!! Thanks💙
Thank you! My couch was in much the same shape. Following these tips, it's almost like new again. I used the liner on both sides of the vertical pillows, just in case. Can't thank you enough!
Wonderful!!! I can't tell you how thankful I am to read that this helped!! Thank you for sharing your experience with me.
This tutorial was so fun and cute! and what a difference it made to the couch when you added T.L.C the results sure looked Comfy and what precious children and great looking family. I am inspired by this to redo our family couch thanks! for sharing God bless!
Thank you!! What a generous compliment!!! I hope your couch turns out amazing!
Mrs. KB.OnBoardSharingIdeas How'd it turn out?
Impressive refurbish! I was skeptical of stuffing large pieces of the matress topper into the back cushions, but they looked great.
So great to see new life infused into a piece of well-loved furniture. So often, 'used' furniture is chucked. I like the idea of refurbishing furniture to extend its usefulness. Using a mattress topper is brilliant! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for your generous words!!
Amazing video. Went straight out and bought a load of pillows to double stuff my cushions. Looks and feels amazing and I only watched the video this morning! Thanks so much for this
This comment made my day!! Thanks for letting me know!!!
Just discovered this video! Awesomeness!! My son and daughter-in-law need to do this and I will help them. Again, awesomeness!!💙❤💙❤
Wonderful!!!
Wendy, your comment is still top on my list and I just want you to know that I appreciate it a lot! It has made me smile several times and I hope that your son and daughter-in-law get to experience a much improved couch!
Great video. With having kids I can relate to my couch getting like this don't always have money to buy new furniture I will try this
I know what you mean! New is rarely in our budget lately. I hope you love the results!
Chair back for sofa
Great Tutorial, you've revived hope for our "well loved" couch with such simple techniques. Thanks!
I love this comment more than I can say! Thanks so much Angel's Angle! I hope your couch gets more mileage out of it!
Way to save the environment! 👍
😂😂😂@0:21 that baby came out of nowhere...Lol...😂
I had that same couch. The covers are actually machine washable, just don't dry them.
I have been drying mine, but air drying them is probably the safest course of action! Good advice!
Mommy Etc
Yeah. They die. I have been there.
What kind of couch is this?
Love it. That made a huge difference.
Short & sweet! Loved the outcome!
Thank you Carmel!
Great video! Short and sweet...I'm definitely going to try this wth a thrift store sofa. I have to say though, while the couch looks great, your little ones stole the show....cute abd very charming. It def made me smile lol.
Thanks so much Stacy!! They steel my heart daily, and I appreciate your kind comments!!
Too late throw out my poor sofa and love seat but I think it had its days with my news one's I'll keep this in mind, great job by the way. 👍😊
Thank you for your complement and for watching Mary! One of these days I'll get new ones as well. I hope you are enjoying your new set!!!
Seam ripping the skirt from the bottom can help it look a little more modern as well 🖖
Great idea!! My couch is a little flat. I'm going to try this!!
I hope it turns out beautifully! It has made such a difference for our family!
It looks terrific! But to be honest, this was a quality piece of furniture to begin with. The fabric on it alone is an expensive grade. ( I've sold furniture for 24 years) The lesson is to always buy the best you can possibly afford because in the long run it will last! And if you can't afford a more expensive well-made sofa, go to a thrift store! They have them there all the time for a fraction of the cost of a new one. Construction and materials matter. Especially with an active family.
Thank you so much!! I agree. This has held up remarkably well and I will take that advice to heart!!
"this is a well loved couch" that couch looks so comfortable!
It is! That's what makes it so hard to part with... well that and the cost of replacing it. ;)
When you do replace it you will miss it. Save this one for the kids to keep their joy alive as long as the fabric will hold :) Loved this video simple and very sweet. Nice family.
What a kind things to say Ella! Thank you. We are hoping to move to a home with a living room and a family room. I will likely take your wonderful advice.
Unbelievable transformation! Looks like new!!!👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you stoneymaine47!!
A mild, but effective cleaning solution for surface cleaning upholstered surfaces that can't be removed and laundered in a washing machine: in a small pale: 1 quart of hot tap water, 2 tablespoons of ordinary liquid hand soap, 2 tablespoons of white vinegar. Sop up some of this liquid with a clean terry cloth rag and ring it out. Scrub off the soiled areas on the arms and backs, etc. I have found it works extremely well and on my sofa, does not affect the dye in the fabric, but suggest testing a concealed spot first before you proceed further. Oh, this is for cloth upholstery, but it'd probably work on vinyl. I don't know about leather.
Thanks for the great recipe and tip Mary! I'll have to remember this!
We did this but used washing soda instead of vinegar and rigged a scrubbing pad to attach to a drill. Bc scrubbing by hand was taking F O R E V E R. Worked as well as a professional steam cleaner if not better!
I should add we had to do the whole couch... arm to arm, front to back and everything in between. Took up every toddler stain and pen/marker scribble and it looked as nice as the day we bought it.
Beautiful sofa. Thanks for sharing
WOW nice job, as I roll my eyes at my own 'loved couch.' 😊
great job
I find it also helps to throw some gasoline on a crappy couch and set it on fire. Works every time. :)
Too true! Maybe we'll have a bonfire one day. :D
😂
I so agree
Ohhhh that’s hysterical!!! Sooooo original NOT....
@@leesa9615 LOL!

I have one of these, too. It is up on cinder blocks. Yes, that's right!
WOW! That raises it, I suppose! Thanks for sharing Melissa!
I liked the saggy and lumpy style, it made the couch look more comfortable, but i guess it up to personal taste.
Nice job. Buy a mattress topper. Thanks for the video. Looks amazing.
I appreciate that a lot ocean4view!
OH. MY. GLOB.

@@Patternedforhome what kund of couch is this? What brand?
Cheri, I wish I could tell you. I got them used and there are no tags. Thanks for your question!!
I like the narrator voice she should make commercials
Well thank you Elizabeth!
I was going to say she should read kids books. She has a real PlaySchool voice!!!
Elizabeth Armendariz, I just wanted to say THANK YOU for this kind comment. Truly. In fact, it helped me to decide to become a voice over artist, which I had been considering. Here's my first demo for anyone who'd like to see it. I am sincerely grateful.
The narration voice and music so reminded me of the Desparate housewives show.
Yes her voice reminds me of the soothing sound of some of the story time shows I watched as a kid
Okay actually might do this this weekend our hand me down couch is a little too loved
Awesome!! I hope it works out well for you Lauraa! Thank you for you comment!
Nice save.
Comfy couches are worth a recycle. Couches today are full of chemicals.
Great tips I will try. ThankU.
I hope it works well for you! Thanks for your comment.
Thank you. I found this at the perfect time!!
OMG I have that exact couch. 😁
I love this!! Been debating if we need new one or theres anything i can do to save our 3 years old couch..i will definitely try this one... Thanks for this wonderful useful tips😉😉😍
If you have a sec to tell me how it goes, I'd love to hear!
I have that same exact couch!
Wow, what a transformation!!❤😀
Thank you Miss Elmyra!
What size mattress topper did you use? My sofa is almost the same size as yours.
Hi Brandon! If I remember correctly, I purchased 1 queen mattress topper with the hopes that it would be enough, but it wasn't, so I purchased a second queen sized one as well. I hope your couch turn out great!
I just done whole new seat cushion foam up grade and dracoon
Very good video. Thank you!
I'm planning to do this to our sofa this Spring
I hope it turns out to be wonderful!! It's been a few months and I've been pleased with how well ours has held up! It needs a good washing though. Best wishes to you!
Can't wait to try this
I hope it turns out amazing! Thanks for your kindness Ahlana.
I would also go on Amazon and buy a couch saver. The thing that you lay on the couch to save the springs. I just bought one waiting on it .
I appreciate that advice Frances! I'll check into it.
I have the same couch! It’s well loved also😊
Maybe cover with an elasticated fitted throw
Gorgeous! How would you suggest fixing if the frame was partially giving in on one side? The part that you sit on
I have the same couch with the same dents but its so comfy.
Very nice.....
Thank you Velia!
Thank you for sharing.
Wish me luck! About to go this. . You made this look super easy btw . .
Best of luck Marlen!! I hope it goes well for you!
I had that exact same sofa lol
That's such a happy couch now!
Thank you!
0:27 Look at that mean kid's face. You can just see the wheels turning as he calculates and executes a rather hard hit with a big rough pillow across that sweet face of his unsuspecting little sister. Then he set back with that superior expression typical of bully satisfaction....blind-sighting her like that. He knew he did wrong, but he didn't care. Bet he does mean things like that all the time. Seeing that bothered me so much that I had call it out for what it is...plain meanness.
Can I do this for a sofa that doesnt have removable cushions? However it does have a zipper to remove the inside foam cushions. I know it would be a tad bit more difficult
Great question! I would say yes. If the cushions can't be removed, you can scrub them really well or use an upholstery attachment to clean things. If there is a zipper, you can add foam or stuffing. I would imagine that it might be more difficult to get the exact sizes of the foam and to make it straight, but it seems doable. Wishing you success!
Love it
Bravo 👏 👏 👏
I know this is Ashley furniture but what's the name of this couch? I had this couch in the past and loved it but unfortunately it got water damage being in storage. So if you could tell me the name or item number I would be so thankful.
Hi did you use memory foam mattress topper all over
Hello Salaya! Yes, I did use memory foam. Here's the link to the one that I used: www.walmart.com/ip/Mainstays-1-375-inch-Memory-Foam-Combo-Mattress-Topper-Multiple-Sizes/17057120?wmlspartner=wlpa&adid=22222222227000955595&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=41023406672&wl4=pla-78658553312&wl5=9029787&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla_with_promotion&wl10=8175035&wl11=online&wl12=17057120&wl13=&veh=sem
"this is a well loved couch". *Throw kid at it*
Thanks this helped
Thank you for letting me know!
AWESOME PROJECT LOVE IT
Thank you Katherine!
Nice job, mama! What was the total cost?
Good job !!!
Thanks Daisy!
That was great. Thanks for this video
Of course! Thank you for watching!
I love this! I’m just curious to know what it looks like now. How long will this upgrade hold up?
Thank you Sarah! I need to take the time to wash the cushions again, but it still doesn't sag and the "umph" so to speak from foam is still working well! Great question!
My couch is similar fabric , looks the same actually . Did you put covers in the dryer after machine washing ?? Thanks
Hi Laura- Yes, I did! If you're worried about that, you might air dry them though.
PLZ, anyone know what to spray on back oh upholstery fabric to keep it from stretching out? I told the kids to buy uph. fabric that doesn’t stretch or give in after someone sits on it. Well, you guessed it!
Suggestions please and thank you.
Oh! I'm so sorry to read that this has happened to you Sandy. I don't know of any spray that helps fabric not stretch. I hope that someone else might though. Best wishes as you figure that out.
Thank you. Free suggestion was to get a thin iron on backing. Works great. I assume you don’t handle situations like this. Thanks for time.
What a good mom and , housewife you know she has a happy husband saving money like that....
That's impressive
Thanks so much @MISSJHON!
Wow! What a great transformation.
This is great!
Thank you Debbie! Welcome!
Good rescue!
Thank you Jenny!
Great idea thanks for sharing
Thank you Stephanie!
Great job
Thank you so much Robin!
Thanks for this vid, we were about to replace our couch because it was soo lumpy (dogs like it though) but this is a quick cheap fix :D
Wonderful! Thank you for your comment. I hope that you get a few more years out of your well-loved couch.
Add a couch cover, will easy to wash with little kids around.
What size topper? How many? My sectional needs saving.
Hello Ciara. I relate with furniture needing to be rescued! For this couch, I think I used 2 queen sized memory foam toppers and had extra. I hope that that reference might help. Best wishes in your save!!
@@Patternedforhome thank you!
What is the make of this sofa? I have a chair and ottoman but can’t find a matching sofa.
I just turned it over and took off cushions, but can't seem to find info on the make or manufacturer. Sorry about that!
