Im really glad you covered the sound quality benefits of a 12" top cab or smaller. Ive never heard a 15" cab that sounded as clean as a 12". Maybe they exist at megabucks. As Im all about the sound, I was hoping you might talk about two other things. 1) The difference in sound signature between the HD and Art9s. I bet they are voiced differently. Earlier versions of the HD12s had titanium compression drivers so its a surprise theyve been dropped now. 2) The audio differences between speakers with smaller or larger compression drivers when used on that 20x20 standard dancefloor you mentioned. In my experience, speakers with bigger compression drivers and voice coils tend to sound less refined and "hifi" than those with smaller ones when used like this. So, its not ONLY that theres no advantage in spending the money, they'll actually sound worse. Obviously, the advantage you get with those bigger voice coils is, as you say, for filling bigger rooms and throwing sound but that big, long-throw sound is often quite shouty and crude.

Love my RCF ART 910-A. I had QSC K10.2 and the 4th or 5th time they quit working due to protection software I'd had enough. This was only using them with synths and some vocals for band practice. Not being heavily pushed at all.

I swear by my HDM 45's and biggest reason is that I think it gives me the best ability to do as large events as possible without using any subwoofers. The base on those things is just amazing. So although obviously bigger and heavier than 10's and 12's, overall it ends up saving me space and weight on 90% of my events since I have really zero need for subwoofers. These speakers are absolutely amazing.

I will say that I listened in depth to all of the speaker brands at the DJ Expo in 2015 and 2016. Back then it was the RCF Art 745, and the new JVOX column arrays they were promoting. The Clarity and definition out of RCF Speakers beats out every other big brand that DJs use! Also, the throw on the ART Series is SOOOO LONG. As far as quality of sound. RCF Blows away JBL, EV, QSC, DAS, Alto, Mackie, Bose. The closest was Yamaha...they were 2nd best in quality imo, but RCF took the crown on Quality of Sound imo both years that I walked around and spent hours listening to speakers at the booths!

Also, there is a weight difference between the ART series, and the HD series. HD10 speakers only weigh 26 lbs! HD12 MK5 speakers weigh 40.34 lbs. Art 910 weighs 35 lbs, and the Art912 weighs 41.9 lbs. Big Weight difference between the 10" speakers at 9 lbs difference. The 12" Speakers almost weigh the same between the two series which I find interesting! If Weight and portability is a concern, go with HD10 over the Art 910. If you compare the 12s against each other, well, a 1.9 lb weight savings is minimal, so maybe the ART912 is worth looking at over the HD12 if budget also isn't much of a concern!

I have 2x 932, 4x 912, 2x 910 and 1x 935 (bass guitar monitor) and the 932 is the best speaker for me for FOH paired with 2x or 4x db SUB918 (80Hz crossover) but 2x 910 can also work with 2x 918sub. I bought db SUB 918 because are about the same thing with RCF 8003 II which are very rare in Europe :( you have to wait months to get them.. Love the combination and the band is very happy. You are right! Best speakers for whats above 70-80-100hz are 12" or 10", even 8" because they can reproduce the voice and instruments much better than a 15" speaker which is harder to move/push. 15"/18" are for subs, not for speakers!!!

What you said about 12 being snappy vs the 15s is dependent on the voice coil size. A 15” woofer with a 2.5” voice coil may be less snappy or slower than a 12. except woofers like the rcf art 945s have a 3.5” voice coils and neo magnets. It makes a big difference. After hearing them all side by side the 945 blew away the rest of the art series. Just my opinion but I definitely think that Rcf’s 15” woofers are pretty amazing compared to others.

    • @johnj596

Also another thing to note is that because of the 4” titanium compression driver in the 945, the crossover is set at 650hz. So the hf driver is handling almost all of the vocal range. That was another I noticed when listening.

RCF HD line is NOT the cheapest line, ART line is the cheapest. What are you talking about here?? RCF ART 712 mk4 is 150/200€ cheaper than HD12 mk5. ART series that you talk aboyt is 932 not 912 .. 932 is much expensive only and only because of the 1.4" neodymium HF driver with 3" voice coil, not the box! What are sayng that the art box is stronger than HD series? Man, you are def not know info.. HD series have much more voice clear than art series, i have both series, you are the first one who clamied that HD series is the cheapest one 😂😂😂

Yes that is right - ART7 is still available but it’s not less expensive. For example HD10mk5 $599 USD MAP ART710 $699 USD Map - maybe you misread something somewhere or there’s a currency difference🤷‍♂️- as far as the rest of your comments you’re more than entitled to your opinion as are we. Hi, As of now ART915a has come out in indian market. Would you suggest this 915a for stage Monitors for bands?
Comparison the clarity of low.mid with other brand like EV,JBL Prx series, QSC.
What do you say about this?

ART 910A would be a far better choice if used as monitors. 915's midrange will sound very muddy.

Ciao . Ti scrivo dall' Italia.

@@emj9927 The ART 910 A is the superior live/dj speaker that uses the best 10 inch 2 way on the planet, however it comes at a cost. The old ART 710A MK4 is almost twice as less and also a great speaker. I used to have those until my back problem (now i have 17lb JBL IRX108) I didnt lose but $50 each when I sold them so the resale is the best in the business. The other alternative is the RCF HD Series, The HD10A MK5. It doesnt have the old fashioned horn look but looks like any other speaker and IMO is on the same level as JBL Eons or EV EKX Series. If you just a busker, the ART 710A is the way to go, its loud, sounds great and outperforms any speaker in it class for a reasonable amount of $$$

@@oldschooldjernie Agree and good summary. Yeah, my back can't lift the heavy speakers anymore so I may opt for the RCF HD10A MK5 or even the 710a. The 910a is just too heavy at 9 lbs heavier than the HD10a. I really like that the crossover on the 710a is at 1600HZ too, however not that crazy about the open grill look of the 710a. A little ugly in my opinion.
