    Awesome, do you have a video of opening it from the bottom side? I´ve e-tron that hit some debris on a road, car got slightly banged up on its bottom plate.. wouldnt be a problem but it started to loose colant. From Audi documents I see there is coolant plate sandwiched between this lower pan and battery itself. You think that can be undone in the car? Thanks.

    Super material!. I use these modules myself in RV. To be exact, I have two such batteries. In case of problems, I also have the option to combine them into a 6S pack and use them as a power bank for offgride.

    Amazing. Now can you explain why only 85kwh is usable? On top if that you charge to 80% so now there is 1/3 of the battery that wont be used.

    • @flyingtools
      @flyingtools  24 дня назад

      No batteries last for ever, of course, but staying proactive and aiming for 80% charge can help them last longer. This is because the battery finds it easier to charge when it is slightly empty, rather than nearly full, and therefore has less stress within its charging cycle.

    • @mondotv4216
      @mondotv4216 21 день назад

      Also it doesn't mean you can't charge to 100% - you can. And you would the night before a long trip. You just don't want to leave your NMC battery @ 100% too often as it shortens the lifespan of the battery. 80% is enough for most drivers to handle 99% of their driving needs. On a road trip you generally only charge to 80% to save time as it takes almost as long to charge that last 20% as it did to charge the first 70%. But if you can, charging to 100% occasionally won't hurt the battery. The 5% at the top and bottom is just to protect the battery. Discharging a battery fully and then leaving it empty can result in permanent damage to the cells so manufacturers like to avoid the very bottom and very top of the charging curve.

    Impressive how you can work out the main components in that "brains" unit.
    Have you seen the super capacitor "batteries" they are fitting to some of the small hybrid cars? Regenerative braking can charge them in a minute.

    Hi I’ve bought a damaged repairable etron. I currently can’t get it started as I’m told the pyro fuse is causing it not to start. Have you any idea what part or module I need to change? Where it’s located? And can this be done easily?(diy)

    • @flyingtools
      @flyingtools  Год назад

      Hi. I didn’t find any real pyro fuse inside of this unit. I actually think that it is all made up in the software after the crash signal from the airbag ecu, so you probably need to change the battery ECU or the hole control unit to get rid of this problem…, and then you have to go to your dealer and have this unit programmed to your car.

      I couldn’t find any pyrotechnic fuse inside it so probably “software” fuse. Pretty stupid if so… Hope you can repair it.

    14:30 - Not the master on this assembly - the Battery management control module is separate in the GE E-tron / Q8 E-tron, right hand side lower A pillar vehicle interior (J840). To be fair however that unit (switching unit SX6) does deal with alot of stuff including current measurements, isolation resistance checking etc....

    What does a battery like that cost where you are? In the UK a 90kWh Jaguar I-pace battery costs £9,000. Although I have seen some for £4,000. Yuo have to take a risk that all the cells are ok, 90kWh for £4,000 is pretty cheap compared to EVE prismatic LiFePO currently about £2000 for 15kWh with BMS in a case, new.

    Looking at the amount of space some of these batteries have around each cell I'm surprised that they are not engineered to have a douse port, like Formula E cars, that a fire engine can connect to externally and totally flood the battery with water. Cooling the cells in a fire is the key to putting them out.

    • @flyingtools
      @flyingtools  10 месяцев назад +1

      I think it is a danish company who have developed some kind of drill that the fire fighters use to flush and cool the batteries in case of emergency/fire. But I have been in the same thoughts as you there.
