My best, simplest and cheapest solar storage home battery I ever built, BMS connected solax.

My mistakes and missunderstandings: 1: I uncomment the battery type to the serial lilygo in the arduino ide. This makes flashing impossible. 2: I crossed the seria...

    Great video. A recommendation if i may. You may use rge Sun integration in HA, that gives you the Azimuth angle of the sun for your location (east to west) and the Elevation (south to north). The optimum angle of the panel is to have the sun at 90 degrees or as close to 90, in both directions. Then using an automation you may change position of the panel not based the time as you did, but based on the azimuth and the elevation of the sun.

    Coolt att det gick att ladda! Det kanske är så att Leaf-modulen räknar med kapaciteten från originalbatteriet som var på 24kWh och lite säkerhetsmarginaler. Kommer du då in med 50% laddnivå, så räcker det ju i princip med 10kWh för att få fullt batteri. Tror att det är lugnt med tempen, du har ju mycket större batteri som är gjorda för högre strömmar, men du laddar sakta i "Leaf-speed". Jag kom upp i ca 40-45kW i början när jag laddade min, men det dalade sakta men säkert nedåt till 30kW när man närmade sig 80-85%. Chademo är lite sorgligt, jag tyckte att Nissan redan borde ha hoppat på CCS EU tidigt, istället för att envisas med Chademo. Nu finns det inte många kvar, byggs knappt några nya och de laddarna som installerades i början strular ofta. Men din fina Golf är GRYM! 🤩😃

    Congratulations on the first charge session :) I use the very same modules without cooling in my Touran conversion. With CCS I set the charge limit to about 80 kW and that increases temperature by about 20°C within a charging session. In hot weather it will cut back already during the first charging session. I'm currently playing with a strong fan to mitigate this. I use my own VCU together with VW BMS modules to calculate SoC and limits: github dot com/jsphuebner/stm32-car/tree/touran-meb

    Interesting! Please correct me if I am wrong, and I’m sure you will have considered this… But if the original battery and BMS was for 40kWh (correct?), is that how the BMS is responding to the charger? So when it gets to 40kWh, it says full, 100%. But you have 55kWh of modules in your project, so there is 15KWh spare capacity above the 40kWh / 100% Is that the way to understand the disparity? Please correct me, because I will at some stage get to a similar decision point on which modules to use on my Resolve / Leaf project. I forget, did you include any kind of CANbridge in your project? I know the various Chinese sellers of new modules always include one to modify the values in the display (and I guess the charger aswell). But I don’t know how this would work in a VW ID project.

    • @EngineersFear
      @EngineersFear 13 дней назад

      The Nissan BMS uses both voltage and current integration to calculate SoC. So it will be off because of the unexpected capacity but later correct for it. I think in Leafspy he saw a different SoC than that on the charger. Some say the BMS even adopts to capacities higher than designed (i.e. SoH > 100%) but I could never verify that.

    • @ianlighting100
      @ianlighting100 13 дней назад

      @@EngineersFear thanks. I’m separately watching a Nissan Leaf user forum where soon there should be a validated experience of someone who took the plunge and bought a new aftermarket 62kWh battery pack complete with ‘reprogrammed’ BMS (from a 24 - 40kWh original). It will be interesting to see how that works out from a genuine customer. I have not decided which way to go on battery modules yet (new or 2nd hand) but that could be an option for me if it is stable long term.

    • @flyingtools
      @flyingtools 11 дней назад

      Hi! This is what I have found when I have tested it: When discharging it calculates the kWh and then it turn of the loads when 5% soc is reached. When I do an ignition cycle the soc will go up to around 12% and then turn of again at 5 % soc cycle the ignition again and you will now get 9% Soc and so on. When you now start to charge the car and it will reach 100% Soc, then it will start to check the cell voltage and keep on charging until you reach 4.15 V per cell. I did this test with an 24kwh BMS to make it easier to perform this test.

    • @ianlighting100
      @ianlighting100 10 дней назад

Unfortunatelly I can not remember the brand, only that our first choice Philips did not fit so well and that those were shipped back.

    time for youtube to learn swedish to deliver subtitles. deepl says : Minus electricity prices, talking about my plant and how I think. looks like this must be about solar power and dynamic prices and how the energy fed in is rewarded. Same discussion here more or less for 2025 and onwards to lower the payment to 0 cent for all the times with negative prices and also for each kWh. Right now for all solar power system built in this year there is a 20 year guarantee for a 8 Cent per kWh surplus. In case it is a system which is only feeding in and not a surplus system which is only feedin the surplus energy into the grid you would get 13 cent per kWh for 20 years. 10 kWp full feeder would produce in northern germany roughly 10.000 kWh and brings 1300€ p.a. while the cost for such system mounted on the roof here is about 1000€ inverter 2200€ panels in case of 20x 500 Wp each about 110€ 800€ mounting profiles, clips, screws and so on based on 20 x 40€ per panel 400€ wiring, cables, fuses, MCB 4400€ in total more or less if the distribution box is ready So it will pay off quite soon as a diy system but we had to pay 170€ for 1 panel 18 months ago, so 1200€ more, the inverter was 400€ more and that year before it was even more expensive to get panels. So we ended up spending 6000€ for that diy system with a pay back time of 4,5 years which would be less than 3,5 years baseed on today prices. The surplus system with battery of same size would be 500€ more for a single phase hybrid inverter with 48 v battery support. The 14 kWh battery would be nowadays incl. the lego style battery box kit from EEL V4 box which incl. metal box and jk bms incl. every part would be 1200€ for cells and 500€ for the box incl. BMS = 1700€ plus a meter for about 100€, so in total 2300€ more expensive than the full feeder setup, therefore 8.300€ due to the fact that we had bought those panels in january 2023. Those would be now 1200€ cheaper payback time is quite different to calculate cause the price for kWh from the grid is currently at a fixed rate contract about 30 cents and if you can use 5000 kWh from such 10000 kWh annual production then you have saved 1500€ on the electricity bill and you would get for feedin the 5000 kWh surplus another 400€, a total payback of 1900€ per year based on prices we paid for panels last year and battery cells earlier this year. Nowadays price for such surplus feeder would be 1800€ less or cost now as diy built 6500€. And then 1900€ would payback that system in about 3,5 years and from then on make profits for the remaining 16,5 years where the feeding rates are fixed to 8 cent. But a lot is going on - last year german renewable PV capacity installed increased by 17 GW which equals 15 nuclear power plants. And the growth is still there - but will instantly stop once the politicans and government starts new discussions about the conditions or prices paid for the energy that is fed into the grid even though that regulation which had brought us the 13 and 8 cent is not even 2 years old - and they start to discuss again, while the commercial insallers are not getting any new contracts while the discussion is going on. They are only building systems from the pile of orders they have gotten last year and this year before the discussion started. So it was looking good for renewables but the times and tide have changed once again. Feeding into the grid from battery makes no sense cause it is not really rewarded cause you simply have to pay a price for the production of the kWh which is quite low around 10 cent but then 20 cent on top for fees to maintain the grid and infrastructure plus 15 € monthly contract fee. The fees mean that if I can get energy in the winter for the heatpump during the night when the prices for a kWh a day ahead is below 0 cent then you still have to pay 20 cent on top for the grid. Therefore charging the battery during off peaktimes in the night makes limited sense in the winter cause if you pay 20 Cent for charging then you have to take also into account 20% losses for the round trip from AC to dc and charging plus discharging and DC to AC conversion. Then your 0 cent kWh price would mean that you had to pay 24 cents in total. Just a bit cheaper than the usuaul 30 cent . And not every night in winter we see a 0 cent price, quite often rather 3 or 5 or 6 cent, where 5 cent is already too much cause with the 20 cent grid fee you would pay 25 cent plus 20% losses the costs would rather be 30 cent like you would have a fixed tarif. I hope we will see a dalla bms coming soon supporting all the nice id car batteries directly to bring down big battery prices another time.

    great job, I really like such content and reuse of old stuff that is still working. Lots of steps and work but what a result. How old is that ? I had found only Ferguson TE20 built from 1946 to 1956 T20 reminded me of the golden era of IBM Thinkpad in the late 90s or early 2000 as the go to Laptop for business machines. Hope to see the working tractor soon again.
