Start off turn 0 discussion, everyone agrees that they are okay with Infect, then they all freak out when I turn 1 an Inkmoth Nexus. I was playing in a Grand Prix commander side event, and we all had Consecrated Sphinxes on the table. More than one judge who walked by double backed to see just why it looked like all of us were just casually thumbing through our deck.
I love the Grave Titan meme on this channel especially since the first time I felt powerful magic was with Grave Titan and Meren. So for me it's always been a fun card I don't play anymore but the hate for it is entertaining
One of the scariest moments in my entire life was when two of my opponents each played a bolas's citadel, and I was sure I was going to lose very soon. Thankfully, I was playing Volo and I top-decked rec sage, so it worked itself out before things got too out of hand (Although neither of them got to play anything off it, so I made a couple enemies that day.)
Fiery Emancipation is one of my favorite cards in my xenagos dragon deck and it lets me one shot people with multiple cards in my deck if they have 7 or more power
Gisela is half damage rounded up so 1 damage is still one damage. Still amazing I’ve played her as a commander for 4 years now and she’s never disappointed.
I still have my original 3 edh decks together.... albeit they have changed a lot since new Phyrexia and the pre-cons dropped. Ghave- teysa orzov scion- jhoria of the ghitu.
I disagree. It‘s Zero, because you rounded up the amount of damage you prevent. 0,5 damage rounded up =1 damage you prevent. Thats Zero damage to you or a permanent you control.
Hope to see Niv-Mizzet Parun in part 2. Has a major color requirement, but drawing off your own spells as well as your opponents is silly good, plus it has a built in win condition and removal ability, and that's before you even consider it can combo.
My absolute favorite commander story involving Rise of the Dark Realms was one time at my LGS one of my friends gave me their Edgar Markov deck and the others were playing Anowan, Yawgmoth, and the Ur-dragon. The Yawgmoth player cast Rise of the Dark Realms and I subtlety ask him "How many creatures do you think you're gonna get?" and he responds with as many as he can. So he chooses all the creatures and goes down to a SINGLE point of life, tries to resolve all the etb's and I say, "In response, tap this sac a creature, you lose 2 life and I gain 2 life." With the biggest grin on my face and the entire table ERUPTED in laughter. The dudes face was PRICELESS
My favorite is: I'm up against Kharador. Battlefield's empty, graveyards loaded. My only relevant permanents are a mana reflection and a single mountain untapped. He topdecks rise of the dark realms. I reverberate. To this day, reverberate is long gone, but I refuse to take that mountain out of my deck.
Saying my daily hello 👋 thanks again for the amazing content. You’ve taken my game to another level and I win more games than ever before! I love it and love y’all!
I think it is a pretty fair card. it would definitely go into just about any token deck with white. For me I would put it into my Thalisse deck. I don't run a lot of haste enablers if there even are any that could go into the deck and I don't think I have any "tap" outlets so if I play this card early a victory would been seen coming for at least a turn. the only instant win I can see with this for me is a late game when I already have my board state built up. So for me and my playgroup this is a great card. That being said in faster or more aggressive play groups/metas this would for sure be a instant removal piece or a 7 mana I win card. So I would say it definitely depends on your meta and play group and how well they know how you like to play.
I play Warp World in my xyris deck. Usually I have plenty of tokens to count towards my permanents and due to the high amount of draw in the deck it never really bothers me to draw it at the wrong time. I know people have different opinions about this card, but I absolutely love to resolve it
I think Elesh Norn should have been higher, because it shuts down a whole breed of deck. Any token deck that isn’t making 3/3s or more, is now gone. No chance to buff, no chump blocking, just gone.

I like Primal Surge. It used to break the social contract of "no combos." But, now, I think it's far more acceptable to have a single card that can "close out games" than before. I played it in an enchantress deck (Uril). I think that's still viable; Utopia Sprawl and its ilk, Kenrith's Transformation etc. Then, close out the game with Fervor and True Conviction.

What about Akroma's Memorial? Similar to True Conviction plus double evasion and protection for just 1 mana more, but more universally usable due to its colorlessness. It's basically a top end auto include in every combat based deck in my humble opinion
I play Villainous Wealth in my Kadena morph deck. So far it's my most consistent win con, since i've build this deck around massive and fast ramp. In most cases X is around 15-20 and thats ends most of the games. I also like to copy it for extra value.

Primal surge is one of my favorite green cards. I have it in an Animar morph with only permanents deck. Beezy is absolutely correct it is a nuclear bomb.
Still can’t get over how bonkers Avenger of Zendikar is with Adrix and Nev and Esix out. Absolutely ridiculous and the widest I’ve gone maybe ever, I ended up with over 400 21/22 plants in a single turn
You're never casting It That Betrays tho, it doesn't have the shuffle text like the other titans so you CAN reanimate it. Paired with cards like merciless execuitioner, its just insane
@Nitpicking Nerds I also run Torbran for the redundant ability. But if both are on the field and the opponents don't know how the triggers work it could be draw deal 9, but even if they do stack the triggers correctly each draw is a Lava Ax.
List order is mostly fine, except that you can't have more S tier options than other options by definition of S Tier. You should move citadel and sphinx down to A, and you should rename D to poop, and poop to not a haymaker. (For this list, S Tier needs to be scoop on the stack to as it invalidates the other haymakers and only your top 4 (I would probably exclude hulk, but if you have sac outlet on the board I guess) really do that.
Well this would be true if we covered all options but we didn’t. There are a lot of haymakers so this does not prove any flaw in our system nor is this tier list anything but fun
Primal Surge is quite a nice card if you build around and I like the idea of having to build around it. It makes for a fun challenge. Of course the power of your deck suffers. I feel like Primal Surge is best in decks where you can get all the effects you might require during a game from permanent sources, so a Sliver Deck would be in my mind the best Archetype for Primal Surge. Slivers are so versatile and give you a lot of effects, so you get punished the least for bulding your deck around Primal Surge.
Hoof is just a ridiculous magic card. I do not think it is toxic enough to be banned but I have easily won most games from playing or tutoring a Craterhoof Behemoth .
My favourite Craterhoof moment was in an Esix, Fractal Bloom deck. Swung a Nacatl War Pride at a squirrel token deck. Produced about 100 Craterhoof behemoth's tapped and attacking, spread among my opponents.
I've been very low on rampaging baloths for a long time, IMO if grave titan is poop tier than so is rampaging baloths. On a typical turn they both generate a similar amount of value, ceiling is higher on baloths as you can get multiple triggers, but the floor is also lower because you can get none. Any deck where the upside is high (lots of fetchs, additional land boosters) the budget is high enough that baloths is superceded. For those reasons I think it barely ever slots in when deckbuilding.
I accidentally went infinite with rampaging baloths yesterday. Kodama of the east tree + anything that makes a token on landfall + any bounce land = infinite tokens.
Remember, context matters and just cuz something is "C tier" or below doesn't mean don't play. Among the list in this video 4 total are represented among my decks. Avenger, and Baloths both do great in LF decks (catch being you always want to cast when you have at least one LF trigger left/haste); Animatou's arg, wins me the game in my proliferate deck b/c card types are very evenly distributed so I've never hit less than 4 targets, including land, with that and it's always something relevant. Emancipation has won me ~4 games in my "lower powered" Firesong deck by burning the rest of the world and gaining 13xN life etc. (N=board wipe or 52 by dropping a meteor on my own Brash Taunter/stuffy D etc).
*realizing they rated Fiery at B tier, but point stands. Also, Animatou's just feels fun which is another bonus...Tefferi + vorinclex/deepglow skate just starts you running wild as opposed to shutting off the game for everyone else.
So, funny story. My first and only casting of Primal Surge was in my Ghired, Conclave Exile deck. It only has 3 cards that would stop Surge in it's tracks - one was in the graveyard and another was in my hand. I hit the third on the second reveal ... Still love the card though, just thought it was hilarious that this was basically Joe's fever dream down to a T.
Good tier list. My only controversial opinion is that Boneyard Parley is better than Rise of the Dark Realms. The impact is still substantial enough to impact your win % while also being easier to actually put on the stack.
My favorite loop to pull off is Omniscience + Jace Memory Adept + Inexorable Tide + Nexus of Fate and a bunch of other extra turn spells in your library. You can basically just keep getting Jace's Ultimate and casting your entire library.
I also wouldn't play Primal Surge or Warp World BUT the restriction of only permanents is actually very fun to build. My Muldrotha and Vaevivctis Asmadi the Dire decks are only permanents and they're very fun to play and build.
I don’t think extra turns make for well designed finishers. If your win con causes your friends to get on their phones rather than scoop up their cards, it’s probably subtracting from the fun of the game.
I’d never ask anyone to stop playing a deck or an effect but I will say my least favorite thing in commander is extra turns, especially when stacked on top of each other with no real win con. Very frustrating.
I have a small Tier List Series request that would really help me out a lot. After the card gets assigned a tier would it be possible to still leave the full card up on the screen somewhere until you move on to the next card? I frequently am not looking at the screen when the card is named, and sometimes I dont know what the card actually does. This forces me to have to rewind frequently. If not, no biggie. I will still be watching for sure. Keep up the great work!
I have an Aurelia the Warleader deck and she just wrecks!!! actually had to detune it, because she could combo with a ham and a sandwich, white is also full of tutors for the equipment needed to combo off and silence effect to protect the combo. Not strong enough to sit at cedh table, unfortunately, and quite race inducing at casual tables. So I removed all combos except for sword of heart and home
Omniscience is really good, but it's not an instant game winner, like they said, you need to have a good hand that turn to get it's full affect, or someones blowing it up next turn
I'm so conflicted over either using aurelia or giada for an angel tribal. Ive won with aurelia but I feel the salt everytime I play her and giada isnt tested (in my experience) and plus its mono white. So eh lol which one in ur opinion is better for an angel deck?
Just the other day I cast expropriate and didn't win. I did however kill the player who threatened me earlier. It was literally the last card in my hand and I proceeded to draw lands on all 3 of my extra turns, and the permanent I stole was a land. Given the same opportunity I'd do the same thing 100% of the time.
Avenger of Zendikar is more of niche card these days. I only run it in my Esix, Fractal Bloom deck these days, and not to make a bunch of plants. And YESSS! Grave Titan in the conversation. Gotta love it.
Haven't played against Fiery Emancipation, but it does seem strong. Also, Beezy had mentioned a 2/2 swinging for 4 damage, but it would be 8 no? 2 x 2 x 2 =8
Great analysis guys. Besides grave titan of course. You always miss the mark on that one. I’ll play you with my grave titan tribal deck one day and you’ll be sorry
There are several commanders that allow you to play eldrazi or other high costed cards for free or next to nothing. I personally have a Saheeli deck with all the big eldrazi and play them for free pretty much everytime.
I cast Primal Surge a week ago for the first time in my sliver deck... flipped Fierce Guardianship... I was livid... everyone else at the table on the other hand...
Because you've never played me duh! Lol. In all honesty though I actually like it in my Alela deck. Makes a token and pumps all my other fliers by 2 on top of the 1 from Alela. So all my creatures are at LEAST 4 power. And Dictate is one of the only cards that high of cmc. So its making LOTS of the little faire tokens with flying. Its pretty cool as a finisher/mid game board advantage.
Completely agree with the tierlist (except Grave Titan should've been S tier 🙃 ) ... the only thing missing from this deck was the Budget alternatives to each finisher (if they have any) .... other than that, great video as always
I’d argue that making mana isn’t a haymaker. haymakers win the game or generate tons of value, generating lots of mana doesn’t do anything without a payoff. I have literally generated infinite mana and not had anything to do with it in games before because I ran out of resources or I didn’t have a card spell
@@HomeCookinMTG the decks you are playing klauth in should have payoffs (gruul beat down/big boys, etc.)A lot of the haymakers on this list aren't instant win the game either. I'd argue huge mana swings on a hasted creature that persist through phases is pretty sick. Essentially letting you cheat out multiple other big things (aka value) Probably c to b tier
@@joshholmes1372 yes in the correct deck Klauth feels like Omniscience since you’re able to cast whatever you want every turn he stays on the battlefield.
Ok so here's the strat: We play Warp World and protean hulk. Hulk line for a kiki combo make infinite tokens then and only then, Warp World hit every card in your deck and make sure one of them is Thassa's oracle for the most convoluted thoracle win you can make
it that betrays so so cool for one reason: it does not care. rest in peace, no was still saced, send commander to command zone, it will still find you. it's the most hilarious thing if you see someone sac their commander when you have it that betrays and you say give me that card its mine now and they answer no its not in the grave just for you to explain them how it that betrays really works. if you closely look at tergrids text you see that she says specifically from the grave.
Sorry for the singlehood, Joe. It can be rough. Just remember to be happy with yourself and good things will follow, relationships and otherwise. You got this! (Same to you, Beezy :D)
My bro did 176 damage to me Sunday with his Craterhoof Chulane deck Craterhoof is nasty as fuck, I had no creatures and was literally minding my business ramping in my Xantcha deck and he shot that at me :(
We have all been there. Though I’ve seen many players deconstructing their Chulane/Craterhoof deck since it’s “easy mode” and a bit boring after a while.
I love Primal Surge! I use it in my Muldrotha deck as the main win con. Use repeatable creature removal and put a Jace’s archivist and some creature ETB draw. Once you play out all your permanents (they enter on the same resolution so you can stack the triggers how you want) then you win the game if it resolves and no one has any tricks up their sleeves. It does get a bit stale, but it’s 10 freaking mana to play and I love the “all permanents” theme. Plus, I don’t mind having an instant win or two in a deck cause the game has to end sometime!
Total Timmy Move: Isshin, Two Heavens as One on board and you attack with Etali, Primal Storm. I wouldn't even care if I won or not if I got to pull that off
I’m here to tell you it’s as amazing as it seems. It doesn’t even do that much but it’s still amazing. I have seen the light of doubled etali trigger into an extra combat.
Eh, I'd actually consider grave titan stronger than rampaging baloths. It really depends on the deck, though, but more bodies is stronger with mass pump than the bigger token. They're both relatively similar and low teir on the bomb scale, though. Infact I'd put them on par with like cloudgoat ranger and siege gang commander. Army of the damned is much bigger and dumber. 13 2/2 zombies.
It that betrays is a true "Build Around". If you build for making your opponents sacrifice things it can get dumb in a hurry. Think butcher of malakir with some tokens and a sac outlet.
10:21 You heard it here yourself: Grave Titan is absolutely broken:
“These cards are all great. All the titans are awesome-great cards…”

@@jakeapplegate6642 that's cool. still not a fan of baloths haha. I guess this is a decent combo that's not too expensive if you want it.
Genesis wave is one of my favorites that you left out
So, funny story.
It is the worst when that happens!
Consecrated Sphinx is one of the primary targets in Thrasios/Tymna cedh Reanimator (just behind Razaketh)
Ewwww so gross lol
Good tier list. My only controversial opinion is that Boneyard Parley is better than Rise of the Dark Realms. The impact is still substantial enough to impact your win % while also being easier to actually put on the stack.
My favorite loop to pull off is Omniscience + Jace Memory Adept + Inexorable Tide + Nexus of Fate and a bunch of other extra turn spells in your library. You can basically just keep getting Jace's Ultimate and casting your entire library.
That sounds painfully slow 😂
@@NitpickingNerds it can be but you eventually win the game lmao
I also wouldn't play Primal Surge or Warp World BUT the restriction of only permanents is actually very fun to build. My Muldrotha and Vaevivctis Asmadi the Dire decks are only permanents and they're very fun to play and build.
You guys didn’t wish me a happy birthday in this one 😭😭😭 JK love the content and although Grave Titan is not necessarily a poop card…. I love you.
I would buff Grave Titan by making it a zombie and giving all your zombies deathtouch
Lifelink would be sick
Only way to make it playable lol
a good magic player would leave Grave titan out of their decks.
a GREAT magic player would make the damn thing useful xD
Fiery emancipation going in my minsc and boo deck coming out in CL2
I could make it smaller on screen perhaps
I have an Aurelia the Warleader deck and she just wrecks!!! actually had to detune it, because she could combo with a ham and a sandwich, white is also full of tutors for the equipment needed to combo off and silence effect to protect the combo.
Not strong enough to sit at cedh table, unfortunately, and quite race inducing at casual tables. So I removed all combos except for sword of heart and home
Lmao that tidbit at the end was great
We are a pair of single idiots!
Omniscience is really good, but it's not an instant game winner, like they said, you need to have a good hand that turn to get it's full affect, or someones blowing it up next turn
Hey nerds, where would you put sun titan on this tier list?
Lets go! another tier list
NEW NITPICKING NERDS VIDEO?!?!
I always die at the grave titan part of your videos XD
Bolas’ Citadel = Channel + Draw cards until you draw two lands.
No it’s way better than that
Avenger of Zendikar is more of niche card these days. I only run it in my Esix, Fractal Bloom deck these days, and not to make a bunch of plants. And YESSS! Grave Titan in the conversation. Gotta love it.
The Titan is here
Haven't played against Fiery Emancipation, but it does seem strong.
Yeah we’ll be sorry FOR you 😄
There are several commanders that allow you to play eldrazi or other high costed cards for free or next to nothing. I personally have a Saheeli deck with all the big eldrazi and play them for free pretty much everytime.
That is a great wayct go
I cast Primal Surge a week ago for the first time in my sliver deck... flipped Fierce Guardianship... I was livid... everyone else at the table on the other hand...
I would laugh a lot lol 😂
"No ones playing Dictate of Heliod"
Oh how you doubt me Beezy 😂
❤ u guys
I have never seen it lol
Maybe in part 2
@@NitpickingNerds We're all glad to hear that 👍🏻
Klauth should be on the list imo. He can make you an insane amount of mana with just a few things on board.
I’d argue that making mana isn’t a haymaker. haymakers win the game or generate tons of value, generating lots of mana doesn’t do anything without a payoff. I have literally generated infinite mana and not had anything to do with it in games before because I ran out of resources or I didn’t have a card spell
Part 2
@@HomeCookinMTG the decks you are playing klauth in should have payoffs (gruul beat down/big boys, etc.)A lot of the haymakers on this list aren't instant win the game either. I'd argue huge mana swings on a hasted creature that persist through phases is pretty sick. Essentially letting you cheat out multiple other big things (aka value) Probably c to b tier
@@joshholmes1372 yes in the correct deck Klauth feels like Omniscience since you’re able to cast whatever you want every turn he stays on the battlefield.
Is the red card, ‘gain control of all creatures until und of turn, they have have haste’ is that card banned from this format?
Ok so here's the strat:
We play Warp World and protean hulk.
Hulk line for a kiki combo
make infinite tokens
then and only then, Warp World
hit every card in your deck and make sure one of them is Thassa's oracle for the most convoluted thoracle win you can make
And it still comes off as lame lol 😂
Do you guys play commander at any particular lgs around Buffalo? I'm in Cheektowaga, and I'd love to sit across the table from either of you.
We don’t play much at the lgs but we will play at iron buffalo in the future
Surprised Torment of Hellfire didn’t make the list. I see that card win more games than any other besides Craterhoof.
Surprised not to see Chandra's Ignition/Torment of Hailfire on here
it that betrays so so cool for one reason: it does not care. rest in peace, no was still saced, send commander to command zone, it will still find you. it's the most hilarious thing if you see someone sac their commander when you have it that betrays and you say give me that card its mine now and they answer no its not in the grave just for you to explain them how it that betrays really works. if you closely look at tergrids text you see that she says specifically from the grave.
Sorry for the singlehood, Joe. It can be rough. Just remember to be happy with yourself and good things will follow, relationships and otherwise. You got this! (Same to you, Beezy :D)
I am very happy with myself 🥰
I think if Craterhoof is considered S, then Omniscience is S. Craterhoof requires an equal amount of work as Omniscience, which is a small amount.
Omniscience requires a little more but I can see the argument
omniscience most the time needs cards still in hand after getting your 8 mana thing into play. craterhoof just needs you to play guys before.
Are they're any vids on Aurelia tips and techs?
I wouldn't even care if I won or not if I got to pull that off
That is the dream!!!
I’m here to tell you it’s as amazing as it seems. It doesn’t even do that much but it’s still amazing. I have seen the light of doubled etali trigger into an extra combat.
Void winnower has to easily be one of the cards that I hate playing against the most.
Love the video. Small request: can you leave up the card on the screen as you discuss it rather than just have the thumbnail up
Totally agree that rise of the dark realms is a better model for finishers in commander than expropriate or omniscience.
Way more fair
Why wizards? Why is it not a zombie? It has zombies coming out of where organs should be!!!
How about Kodama of the East Tree? You go infinite with a hamsandwich and even with out it is incredibly strong.
It is a super strong card for sure
Why no Jin gitaxias core augur (or however you spell dat shit)
Craterhoof behemoth, the blueprint? No man, missed opportunity crater hoof behemoth is the HOOF PRINT
It that betrays is a true "Build Around". If you build for making your opponents sacrifice things it can get dumb in a hurry. Think butcher of malakir with some tokens and a sac outlet.
Fiery Emancipation, Purphoros, and Goblin Bombardment is red enchantment xmasland, and conveniently enough devotion for Purphoros.
Seems like a win
