This long and amazing video deserves a long and amazing comment. Instead here's this: I love the humor Joe edited into the vid, especially any and all wrestling and Adventure Time/Bravest Warriors references. Fun fact, I have a Catbug d6. Beezey has a very good narration voice as well. I started playing around Onslaught and off and on from there, so I love all the nostalgia I get form watching this. My first "EDH" deck was around the time of the format's takeoff in popularity, Scion of the Ur-Drag0n, and was followed shortly after by the original version of Kaervek. Years later, my first "Commander" deck, was actually Karador, so I too love that guy. I've been playing ever since and haven't missed a commander precon cycle since 2013. You guys are awesome, can't wait for more!

That card jumped in price because of the GREAT Minotaur commander that came out of JumpStart Sethron. I should know because I built him and I definitely had to get my hands on it. Glad someone mentioned the artifact even though it basically has one use lol.

I've been feeling very disillusioned with Magic lately because of the direction WOTC/Hasbros has been taking the game over the last couple years, but this video has me feeling really nostalgic. Remembering all the fun games and interactions I've had with so many of these cards reminds me of how much genuine joy Magic/EDH has brought me. Great content.

Fallen Empires is mostly full of the worst trash ever printed, but there some more playable cards in there, too - Hymn to Tourach, Aeolipile, & Order of the Ebon Hand/Leitbur are solid, Orcish Spy & Icatian Javelineers are kind of cool, and I've got a soft spot for Mindstab Thrull & Night Soil
As 'poopy' as Portal Second Age is, it has one of my all-time favorite card arts in all of Magic's history in Denizen of the Deep. If I could get Portal Second Age's version of Denizen's art as a poster, I'd hang it on my wall. I like the art so much I went out of my way last year to buy it online - it was the first card I ever actually bought online.
This video was very fun to watch good job. Personally I would like to have seen a version where lands and mana producing cards were excluded. Because they are predictably the go to pick after I saw they were included.

I've never actually played Commander, but a friend of mine who does has informed me that the one card that I would want to use as my Commander is actually banned as a Commander - Rofellos, Llanowar Emissary.

Great content! This video made very clear for me how the release schedule of Magic sets has been accelerated, to the point of now being doubled compared to the previous era. When the video gets to 2008 (approx. half the lifetime of the game), it is only at one third of the sets.

Nexus of fate can be put in exile. With black card. For 3 mana search to à opponent library for a card and exile that card. Or sadistic sacrament is good to.
From someone who was playing magic in 93/94: Agreed Fallen Empires isn’t up there on the power curve, but not sure I’d just gloss over the set and say it’s High Tide or nought .. Goblin Grenade, Night Soil, Soul Exchange, Goblin War Drums worth consideration. Honorable mentions (more outside of commander) to Goblin Warrens, Aeolipile, Hymn to Tourach, Order of Leitbur/Ebon Hand, Breeding Pit... and if you’re playing some kind of reanimator, Deep Spawn’s worth a look... ... On Arabian Nights, yes City of Brass is up there, but it’s a great set. Consider Drop of Honey or Guardian Beast for example...
As someone who does a lot of editing, this is an epic, high-effort video. Well done on this one, guys.

He defeated a clone. Bolas even stops by later to put it out of its misery. (Though this was from the web story, which is probably the retcon.)

I would advise you guys to start playing candelabra of tawnos from antiquities, it's arguably better than ashnod's altar.

Agreed Fallen Empires isn’t up there on the power curve, but not sure I’d just gloss over the set and say it’s High Tide or nought .. Goblin Grenade, Night Soil, Soul Exchange, Goblin War Drums worth consideration.
Honorable mentions (more outside of commander) to Goblin Warrens, Aeolipile, Hymn to Tourach, Order of Leitbur/Ebon Hand, Breeding Pit... and if you’re playing some kind of reanimator, Deep Spawn’s worth a look... ...
On Arabian Nights, yes City of Brass is up there, but it’s a great set. Consider Drop of Honey or Guardian Beast for example...
My favorite set is Conspiracy. It just seems like every card in that set is amazing
