PREPARATION:
STEP 1
Wash and dry the area to be repaired.
STEP 2
Apply paint clarifying compound to a small cotton or microfiber cloth. Wrap cloth around first two fingers, use firm finger pressure to rub back and forth 30 times on the damaged and surrounding area to remove whiteness of surface damage and restore paint transparency.
STEP 3
Wipe off residue. The polish will also remove oxidation , embedded contaminants, and prepare the surface for the wipe on clear coat.
REPAIR:
STEP 1
Wrap two layers of applicator cloth around foam block.
STEP 2
Apply clear coat to the applicator cloth (enough to wet the surface, but not dripping wet).
STEP 3
Starting several inches away from the damage, wipe with a light back and forth motion in the same direction of the scratch or scuffed area.
STEP 4
Make sure to wipe the clear coat several inches past the repair area with reduced pressure. Damaged area will “disappear” if coating is correctly applied.
STEP 5
Allow 24 hours to cure before touching or polishing repair and surrounding areas. Wipe on clear coat will remain extremely glossy.
STEP 6
If desired, use premium clarifying compound to blend repair with the surrounding paint.
NOTE:
You have a few minutes of work time for spreading the clear coat to make sure repair is free of streaks. If needed, add more product to applicator and apply. Product can be wiped off within two minutes of application if needed, and reapplied if additional prep work is required to get an invisible repair.

This reminds me of Optimum Clear Coat Restorer. Can you think of something similar in this category?
I wonder how the composition of this differs from optimum's product as the optimum product requires the use of a respirator.
I am VERY keen to get my hands on some of this somehow. Optimum Clear Coat Restorer is not available in Australia and I can't even get it shipped from the USA (likely due to whatever chemical that requires a respirator).
My fingers, toes and eyes are crossed that Turtle Wax will decide to add this to their Aussie line-up. 🤞
kamikaze artificial clear coat xkote
What ever happened to OCCR?
2 years ago everyone was reviewing and saying good things, but no one seems to use it.
Pearl Nano Kote
Wow that last scratch before and after wasn’t bad, definitely a good DIY friendly product
I really like the idea of the self leveling resin and it reminds me of opticoat clear coat restorer. I do like how the resin is easily applied from a bottle onto the leveling block. Hopefully this is an area the detailing industry improves on in the future. Thank you for reviewing this product.
CAUTION: Don’t make the same mistake I made… I applied the clearcoat resin and everything looked good. However, after about 10 minutes, I wanted to add a second coat. But the first coat hadn’t fully dried yet so I made a “smeary” mess with the second application of clearcoat. Lesson learned: make sure you wait a full 24 hours for the clearcoat to dry/cure before applying a second coat. (By the way, I had to buff out the smears with a compound and DA machine polisher.) Note: I realized this resin is quite thick and doesn’t require a second coat. Live and learn!
Great advice, thank you for sharing a hard experience.
I like you demonstrated it as a general consumer who might buy this off a walmart shelf with no other experience or tools coukd still see some positive results
Pretty cool to see this kit available. Maybe for the not quite driveway detailer and more general DIY group. Anything that gets less scratches off the road is a good thing! 🍻
Thanks for the demo using only hand methods. Helps for anyone to do the kit, just the kit does a very acceptable result.
Excellent review! Good to know that there's still options out there!
I tried Scratch X by kit, a slight improvement, Turtle wax Heal and Seal, some difference yet both left the scorch visible, time for the latesdt turlt wax i like your demonstration, now for the real world test my Silverado.
I saw a demo from TW on Pan's channel. Their scratch wasn't that deep or wide, but it did an OK job. I guess! I suppose it would be alright in a pinch. Thanks to the two Brians for the demo.
My biggest concern with scratch and paint chip repairs is the impact on the surrounding clear coat when sanding and polishing. Applying the resin in this way would appear to be a good idea to reinforce the clear coat before sanding or applying compound/polish.
Can we use a regular polishing compound using a DA polisher instead of the rubbing compound provided? I wish they just sold a bigger bottle. I could literally clear coat a car this way and finally polish it off. Saves the hassle of masking and spraying and all that stuff.
How long do you let the clear coast resin cure before coming in next with the rubbing compound? Thank you in advance 👌
Good stuff Brian was curious about the product, appreciate your review as always.
Hope this will be available in the UK, I have a few small scratches on my old mx5 that this would work great on
that was interesting thanks for the demo
Interesting,,,,,,won’t make it perfect but definitely an improvement, which is what most people are asking for. This is something I’ll get for my arsenal. Questions: what’s the shelf life once the bottle has been opened? Is a “bulk” bottle (100mi) available?
My question is on motorcycle paint. Harley to be exact. I just got my new motorcycle and I damaged my clear coat when installing a new tank badge. The scratch is catching on my fingernail…. 😞 I am a very detail oriented person, this bothers me!
I have someone who can do a paint correction and apply ceramic in the area…. I am unsure if this is a good option because 1: a very small area, will it blend? 2: Is this a good replacement for clear coat? 🤷♀️🤷♀️
Or would kit mention in this video be a good option? Would like to avoid a body shop for such a small imperfection. But if I have to, I will.
Thank you!
Not too bad.. I'll stick with wet sanding buffing and polishing for now👍🏽
Great video…. Once again!!
Hi Brian👍. My question is if I’m addressing the road rash on my front bumper . Do I just apply the clear coat only? No clarifying compound necessary? It’s a 2008 ACURA TL. Thanks in advance 👍
It would be hard for me to assess this product with out properly sanding, touch up paint and machine polishing first. Is this resin superior to touch up clear from the dealer? I guess i will have to stay tuned to find out.
The resin is the highlight of the kit. I would use my own tools to prep as you mentioned.
Looks like a perfect fit for pesky nail or key marks around door handles etc!
wipe on clear coat... i wanna use that on headlights
What if you have already filled the scratch with touch up paint.
I bought the dealer colour so it’s a perfect match but the touch up is not level with the rest of the paint.
You can see the touch up.
It’s about 6 inches long and it was deep.
Can this product work on the touch up and level it out?
I did the touch up a month ago
Hello Sir how about if the clearcoat is peeling off what is the remedy for that,?thanks
Can you apply a second coat to the scratched area, and if so will that make the scratch look even better?
Definitely a nice product!! 👍
How long would you expect this treatment to last in Florida sun and rain conditions?
Definitely would want to add some more steps for best results (3000 grit wet sand, etc) but for the cost this would not be bad at all for the arsenal
Exactly.👍🏻
To be sure, the kit suggests using the compound before and after the resin clear coat?
First off Bri, thank you for taking the time to talk today with your busy schedule. Our call dropped but you answered my question. This product looks like it will work best on light colors. Will the sealant portion work on ppf? Will it fill a minor scrape? This would be without polishing of course. Thanks again.
I was on the road in a bad area. My apologies. Don’t hesitate to reach out anytime with questions or concerns.😁👍🏻
@@apexdetail85 no worries😎
what if you sand the scratch down and the apply clear to protect the paint
very nice.. I would like to see how you would fix a scratch that goes down deep to the metal
Interesting product
so you dont buff out the clear coat after application? you let it cure first before doing any polishing after?
Be careful. I used this in my garage and with limited lighting it appeared to work well. When I took the car out the next day it had spots in the paint. I thought maybe I didn’t wax it right but realized that when you apply this, it creates a different sheen or clear. It looked very good but needed to buff out and blend in. It didn’t work by hand. Had to get a dual action polisher to fix it up. If your going to apply this, try to do the complete section or panel.
How would this compare to just using one of those repair pens that have the clear coat brush?
Great job buddy tfs
Another informative video Brian 👊🏼
Thanks Brian, as I expected, a seemingly average kit. But I guess it couldn’t hurt to use if I’m in a hurry
@Lee Francis since the scratch was not removed completely, I’d call it average
We would like to see the after shots with lights.
The Gopro doesn´t focus at all, the focus is fixed between roughly 0,5meter(ca2feet) to infinity. Thanks for the great videos
Could you use a polisher for compound?
I dono man, it doesn't look like it really did anything past the lightest of scratches.
Did you even listen to anything he said!
@@williamardenjr116 I listened to his opinion, you do know you have the right to your own, hopefully?
It has its limitations for sure, but in some situations. Makes a huge difference.
It’s not a magic solution but it does greatly help, for example masking some scratches before a sale
Exactly.👍🏻
Can you do multiple coats?
Very interesting!
Great video. Thanks!!!!
Can I do an entire truck hood??
Any thoughts on how this would work on a car with tinted clear coat. I have a Mazda that could use a little scratch minimizing, and Mazdas I believe have tinted clear coats.
Any pearl is a tinted clear coat. It will work but pearl has off white clear topped with regular clear.
Commonly referred to as a “tri coat” in the indistry
Brian what's the shelf life of the clear coat resin? Thanks
We will find out together…I am not exactly sure.
Hey, that's pretty cool. Hats off to the Turtle.
Hey Brian. I've got a 2013 anniversary Corvette coming in this spring. Do any Corvettes have aluminum wheels? If so, how can I tell if any are aluminum? I'm just trying to be safe. Thank you.
Bare aluminum will have transfer if you lightly polish.
Anyone know if you can you buy the clear coat fill n seal separately In larger amounts?
I always wondered why there is no clear coat spray which we can apply and then polish it
there is blend spray for smart repair but that is beyond the scope of detailing
If the scratch is down to the primer/metal, can this still fill and repair?
Someone didn't watch the actual video! 😋
@@misssummersalt I watched the whole thing, thus my comments commenting on the video. At no point did he do an entire scratch that was down to the metal.
@@MeliorIlle if a scratch is down to bare metal, no amount of anything clear will make it go away.
@@MeliorIlle well how did it look with a scratch that wasn't down to the metal? There's your answer
@@MeliorIlle the rear wheel well looked pretty deep. Maybe fill it in with a color pen . Then seal? I have a fiber glass hood on my 04 mach1. Stone chipped the hood edge. I I just kept adding paint. Car looks it has a minor case of herpes 🙈😂
I'm on the fence here, don't expect much andi feel you won't be disappointed.
Nice is it fairly easy to wipe off.
Don’t wipe off … it self levels…so to speak.
Can someone tell me is there/was there such a thing called "sliding paint"? Curious to know if this was a legit thing or just some bs
Ooooooooo new video yay!!
I realize you are following the instructions to a tee. Would it have had better hand compounding results using a Cotton Terry which will have significantly more bite of rolled up very tightly than a MF towel?
Yes… outside the resin itself… I would use my own tools to prep.
Good enough to delay the bodyshop visit.
DISCLAIMER: If you’re going to apply this product, do NOT apply it to “several inches” covering the scratch on either side… do the entire PANEL of the vehicle. I’m now left with a 3 inch swath of clear coat, in addition to the scratch right in the center.
Why not just polish it. Why the kit?
For my 50/50
Decent product better but not better than polishing
The product link does not work. If you look manually it's out of stock anyway haha!
It sold out in like 3 days.

Its Just a ceramic coating there is no such thing as clear coat filler
First!!!
