I would probably go with Dream Maker since I've heard it has anti static properties, so it attracts less dust which sounds great for me working next to a gravel yard. However, Griots Garage Speed Shine hasn't let me down when I grab it.
You need to use a 20 degree gloss meter, a 60 degree meter reading does not correlate well with visual. The resolution is much finer with a 20 degree meter. My background is paint and coatings. You can have the same 60 degree reads on surfaces, but the 20 degree will give you a 10+ unit difference. Repeatable and reproducible readings are obtained by taking at least three readings in different spots on the panel and averaging them. I ran QC/QA for a large coatings company.
I'm just a novice at detailing, and mostly do it on my own hot rods. The question I have is that I've used Dream Maker in the past when preparing for a car show, and found that it REALLY attracts dust. I love the gloss enhancement, but I hate dusting the car off so frequently. Turtle Wax claims to repel dust. Would it be possible to do a comparison of products that claim to reduce dust? Thank you for another great video!
I don't have experience with pure shine nor meguiars. I only have tried dream maker, and it's the only p&s product I've ever used. I agree with your results, I can tell the difference when I use it vs when I don't. I usually go over Titan with this and the results are pretty awesome.
There is more to gloss with the naked eye then just the meter reading. The way our eyes perceive shiny reflective paint is also a “gloss” factor. Depth of color also a factor.
You just saved me $20. I was excited with seeing that TW and Meguairs had introduced these new detail sprays. After your demonstration, I’ll pass on them both. Thanks.
The lighting wasn't the greatest in this video. IMJOSHV just posted a test with the same products, and Meguiar's was the only product that visibly reduced swirl marks. Lighting is tough
I just got done applying TW Flex with Graphene for the 5th time on my new Traverse. This time I followed up with a coat of TW Pure Shine because I’m looking to reduce static. I have a vacation home on a dirt road that I have to drive on for a 1/4 mile. After a weekend the rear lift gate is just covered with road dust. It’s so annoying. Pure Shine claims to reduce static. I guess I will find out this weekend. I was not immediately impressed with the slickness when I finished yesterday. But after it set up overnight, it’s very slippery now. About as slippery as F11 Top Cost. It also appears to have a deepening & darkening effect on the paint color. I applied by hand and it flashed so much easier than the TW Flex product.
I like adding 1.5oz of Dream Maker to my Bead Maker, this is a nice combo for best of both worlds and adds anti-static properties to help repel some dust for a bit.
they are great for maintenance washes. As a drying aid/topper. i love pure shine as a last step product, can't always be using products that leave behind protection when you wash 2-3 times per month.
I had higher expectations for the new TW product, i"ll have to pass. The P&S Dreammaker i have used quite a bit. I like to mix it with Beadmaker to help with the dust attraction issue. Honestly though when my gallons are empty i will not re-up. My customers were very happy with the appearance and slickness, and it is very affordable in gallon sizes. Great video Brian you saved me few dollars.
@@dtna i just tried it at 50/50. Ive seen a video where Dave Phillips the chemist at P&S recommended 10 parts beadmaker to 1 part dreamaker if my memory is correct. Eagle One Wipe and Shine was always my go-to, sadly discontinued now. Good gloss, some added protection, helped remove dust and light grime safely. It was just too good for this world.
thanks for the video. I recently bought the P&S and applied it to my white car (it already has Meguairs Polish, Show Car Glaze, Ultimate Liquid Wax) ... without the P&S , the paint is already quite glossy. With the P&S , it just added just a tiny bit more. Not spectacular. Then I got the Meguairs Insane Shine Paint Glosser and applied it to my blue car (same Meguairs Polish, Show Car Glaze, Ultimate Liquid Wax treatment as the white car). The result from the Meguairs is quite noticeable: the blue is darker and added gloss brights a bit specular shine to the paint. In my area, the Meguairs is 3 times less expensive than the P&S. so my choice is very clear :) I'll put some Meguairs on the white car to see what it'll do. Not sure if it will make the white 'darker' !!! In the past, I've used Meguairs ultimate quick detialer on top and with repeated use , the product produces quite a bit of shine....but lacks the warm glossiness of these gloss enhancers.
As you stated Brian i honestly don’t have much of a use for these products. I have done the Dream maker and Bead maker mix which isn’t bad for gloss boost and a quick detailer.
Not very impressive. There are other "toppers" that actually provide a little added protection as a sacrificial layer, and they have been proven to boost gloss. I have tried many, and have settled on 3 toppers for each protection category... Waxed paint --- I really like Adam's Polishes' "Spray Wax" (I think it scored well in your own gloss tests, too). Sealed paint --- Bead Maker on light colors and Xtreme Solutions "Topper" on darker colors. Coated paint --- Jescar "Ceramic Spray Wax" (formerly "Bead It"). This is such an underrated product!
I’d like to see an update doing each panel with each product, especially since the initial gloss was so low on the first panel. It’s easier to get a better result on a panel with a lower starting point vs a panel with a higher starting point if all 3 products are relatively close in performance.
For me I just enjoy my car looking beyond perfect at all times despits not entering car shows and whatnot if you're happy with the condition your car is in its not a necessity more so a luxury that you're free to use should you want to
A few days ago I did a test on the bonnet of my Accord, one step mild correction with Meguiars yellow foam, used Rupes uno Protect,, a 15mm shinemate, speed 3. Dream Maker does add a nice pop of gloss but I have more trouble than success. Sometimes it "melts" into the panel and provides a nice boost in gloss over an already shiny surface, but most of the time it forms a white haze and gets smeary. Why spend money and make the effort for such a small gain in gloss without protection, I can achieve better with a detail spray/spray wax/spray sealant and that will last a while too.
I'm just choosing one but i really don't understand your range. You are comparing 3 paint glosser, not protectant, and you give number 1 to P&S, the less glossy???? I see discrepancies with these tests 🤔. Im sure others have noticed
007 gloss enhancer
Why spend money and make the effort for such a small gain in gloss without protection, I can achieve better with a detail spray/spray wax/spray sealant and that will last a while too.
Meguiar's
All this really established is that gloss meters are a waste of time and money.
Why are you adding so much.. Thought it was two sprays per panel.
I'm just choosing one but i really don't understand your range. You are comparing 3 paint glosser, not protectant, and you give number 1 to P&S, the less glossy???? And how scientific can be the test if you say "yesterday there was a significant gloss increase on this panel and today a dicrease, and this could sometimes happen". Ok, you are ranging by your personal experience and thank you for this but this way is completely unuseful your test with glossmeter! I go for Dream Maker cause is the cheaper indeed
Surprised , how come gloss machine not accurate?
I will pass on these!
Dreams the turtle go slow again only pro series its strong
Who in the right mind would buy a detailing product that gives you less gloss after its applied. The untreated panel had more gloss. Pure madness. The World's gone totally mad. Won't be spending my hard earned on rubbish like that
Second
