@@AmandaTheJedi the post office Man saying "those are not amish was a great scene, simple, but of course the post Man knows the people, AND they they End it with "Mom?" To then actívate trap hole (Yugioh reference)
My theory about the “ghost” in Sarah’s old room is that Sarah was containing the demon within her but over time the demon was starting to take control over her and push her spirit out of her body like she basically died or is dying so the demon can have full control and they need to transfer the demon into the daughter so they can start anew with holding back the demon in a healthier living body. So Sarah’s spirit, now without a body, was in the house I think trying to warn/scare Margot off into leaving so that she wouldn’t have to face the whole demon drama. Also their story is that Sarah was made pregnant by an outsider so she was shunned. We know they are liars so I think maybe Sarah was forced by someone else in the community into having a daughter while she was locked in the attic. I think it’s been a chain of them forcing the specific bloodline into having daughters and lie and say it was from an outsider as a reason for her being locked away in the attic when really it was because she was the demon vessel and had to be locked up. I think Sarah was trying to break the chain by escaping with her daughter but they found Sarah and Margot and brought them both back. They may have had plans to get Margot pregnant after transferring the demon into her and moving her into the attic where she would essentially become their prisoner. That’s why John calls Sarah “selfish” and “rebellious”. She wasn’t giving in to being a sacrifice for the “greater good” like the women before her might have been okay with it or took it on as a duty
Sounds about right, but I'd about the whole getting her pregnant afterthefact cause who the hell would they force to impregnate a demon in a ring of salt? No doubt Asmodeus would try to kill the child or the impregnate considering they don't want to be contained. Its also clear that Sarah's mother was more than likely the vessel before Sarah considering they don't mention her. After she had Sarah (and a future vessel as a result), they probably made her the vessel
8:59 I know this video is two years old but at this point in the video I lean in to try and read the letter just as Amanda says “I actually paused on this thing…” and my video stops. I had to stop and look around my room at my own personal ghosts to be like did you do this shit? Lil spooky 😅
the way this whole movie Margot just cannot seem to keep shit to herself is what pissed me off like why tf are you telling Jacob you snuck into your mother’s old room and found that letter?? Why would you tell Sam that you snuck to that church that is literally forbidden???
Also it annoyed me in the end where there's a shot where NO ONE could have been realistically holding the camera yet they still acknowledge it. It made absolutely no since like, who was filming??? The demon???
i feel like this was definitely a good concept/script that got warped into a paranormal activity 'sequel' - like there's so many decent ideas here. the shot down into the pit. the being sitting on the bed. the actual decent human being boyfriend figure
If they had abandoned the whole found footage idea, then this would sound like a really interesting concept. As it is, it sounds like a mix between The Last Exorcism and Midsommar. Which....meh.
I know the Amish shopping at WalMart was supposed to be a clue that they aren't really Amish, but there is an Amish community by my dad's house in Michigan and they really do shop at Walmart.
I remember seeing a trailer for this before eternals. I remember when I was terrified of a trailer for ghost dimension before terminator geneses when I was 11. It was kind of nostalgic. I was surprised they were still making these
Ha! I saw part of Scary Movie at 8 because my Mom and her friends forgot that I and their kids were still up. Scary Movie is a parody, but we saw the part where the cheerleader breaks her own leg and her head is cut off. The adults realized that we were still there and sent us to bed. _BEFORE_ the comedy part where Discount Jason Voorhees dumps the girl's head in the lost & found bin because she keeps chattering. 🤦♀️ That could've saved my circadian rhythm. 8 - 11 year old me was fully prepared to be the first victim so home invaders would then leave because my screams would alert my parents and the neighbors. I was a selfless 8 year old 😅🤦♀️ I'm 26 years old today and now take sleeping meds. 8 - 11 year-old me staying awake to guard my Mom from the inevitable monster that'd come kill us all, permanently skewed my circadian rhythm.
I'm watching this more than 2 years after the premiere of the video after having binged all of the findable Paranormal Activities at least twice since the first one came out and I've never heard of this movie.
You know things are bad when an Amish woman is fully willing to abandon her infant child. There's a tragic murder in the Amish community that the entire community tried to do something about where a dude with severe mental health issues snapped and brutally killed his wife and I believe the community had actually taken his own children from him so that they were not at risk either in case he killed again. So if that mom couldn't even be certain that her own child was safe within that environment, just maybe don't go back.
I live right on the edge of Amish Country in Pennsylvania. I can't tell you how many times I've seen Amish folks in Walmart or Target, or any other general goods store. Amish teenagers flock to Sheetz and talk about Instagram or Tiktok. My daughter is friends with a few Amish children who know what the internet is. I'm sure plenty of Amish people conform strictly to the whole no technology, live off the land stuff. But there are plenty that don't stick to it so much. It's not as weird as some people like to pretend it is.
yeah amish shop at walmart, they ride trains and airplanes. for every amish countertop bread starter (in a ziplock no less) you get 3 amish recipes with marshmallow fluff and jarred mayonnaise. seems to me at the end of the day its just down to performative othering and control of their wamens and younguns (property.) in other words, religion.
I didn't like any of the paranormal activity movies, but I liked this one. Was even creepier since I live in amish country(eventhough the family in this movie wern't amish)was creepy, had eerie envirments, and good acting. Something the other movies did not have. Great video,Blessed Be.
I don't know if the Amish also do this, but we have a Mennonite community where I live. I'll see them driving vans, shopping in Walmart, going to get fast food, and they do know about phone stuff like tiktok but don't have phones themselves. I think the mennonite community is less strict than the Amish but still similar enough they can be confused for each other.
I was wondering about that. It looks like the gap between the way some Amish live, especially when visiting or doing business in the outside world, and the way Mennonites live is becoming smaller from an outsider's perspective.
I am loving you editing the footage of your genuine reactions to the movie into the video. It’s a real way to incorporate your genuine reactions while still putting out a great review.
"Even if you started thinking about it too much some things start seeming dumb" Like how they used the symbol of the Triple Moon Goddess in the trailer. As a Wiccan I get the whole "witch" troupe & using pentagrams & shit for "evil" visuals. But I honestly got a bit offended by it. Considering the Triple Moon Goddess is not in any way shape or form evil. And judging by Amanda's review here (haven't seen the movie) there was no pentagrams or "witchy" symbols other then there being a "white witch" I'm just confused on why they would use that particular symbol in the trailer when it's got nothing to do with the movie.
In all horror movies there are so many wrong things concerning pagan stuff. Heck, in all kinds of movies and series they tend to get pagan stuff wrong as hell. See: tarot cards. They always use the Death card as something ominous, and I always sit here and go: "You know that's a positive card, right? More like a rebirth kind of card..." If they want an ominous card, why not use the Tower card? But noooo. Annoys me every time. So doesn't surprise me that they use deities of some kind wrong. Another example: Hades.
Every thought I had about this video was thrown out the window the moment you brought up What We Do in the Shadows at the end lol it's like my favorite show right now!
Damn man, I knew I recognized the guy who plays Chris in this but just realized he's the kid that Kim and Jimmy scam into taking a plea deal in season 5 of Better Call Saul. Wow, that's a random-ass connection.

I was like 15 when the first Paranormal Activity came out. That and the original Blaire Witch Project started my absolute love of found film horror movies. I'm really very sad that the PA franchise had taken a swan dive down the toilet.
I’m so glad you pointed out that this movie is like a rip off version of Outlast 2 because I was enjoying the movie while watching it, and then I got to the end and realized the aspects I actually liked about it were literally just taken from Outlast 2
one thing I found very fun watching this is the German writing on the church! Your translation was 100% correct, BUT it's also specifically something many parents say when their children overstep! basically "So far and no further, or you will face the consequences" it's of course also used in other contexts, but if that was intentional, it's a nice touch!
Well said, Jedi. I feel bad for the writers of this movie. The movie was kind of creepy, well done, but it wasn't a PA movie, clearly, and they stuck that shit title on it and now no one will see it. It honestly might be the bets of the series, ironically. It had REC vibes, and I even woulda accepted it was: Blair Witch: Amish Edition but not a PA movie. This flick had actual creepy shit and not doors moving and sheets being pulled.
@@francislachapelle123 No one got pulled by an invisible person. The scares weren't vapid bangs and doors moving slightly. The story was fairly well thought out and had a decent pace. So the demon only jumps in one bloodline from woman to woman? But they wanted to sacrifice the last and only woman in that bloodline. What were they going to do when the daughters body finally gives out???

Ok look, I need you to look into The Owl House. It’s an incredible cartoon on Disney+ that I promise you’ll love. It’s recently been cancelled and when you watch it you’ll understand why daddy Disney decided it didn’t ‘fit’. It’s a travesty. I’m livid and I want justice. Mostly I just hope if we make enough noise they’ll uncancel it.
I really want to know what the height limit on the effects of a salt circle is. Like, if a demon is riding on a plane and passes over a salt circle, do they get yeeted out of the plane?
Maybe it's like Evil Dead where the demon has multiple lesser demons that do it's bidding or is made out of multiple smaller demons. If the movie wants me to think that Asmodeus can only possess one host at a time, then he seems a lot less powerful than the Kandarian Demon... Ash Williams will make short work of him.
This movie wasn't that bad but im feeling like since next of kin is a standalone film its better if they want to continue the franchise but as an anthology because they it will be better? Just my opinion though after watching the film
You know I'm starting to realize a lot of the protags of horror films are actually the villians because they always let lose this super dangerous demon because they're too busy trying to save themselves.
I watched Foundflix’s video on this and I was thinking how many weird things that clearly foreshadowed that they weren’t really Amish. These were all red flags that should’ve told them to leave. - The girl who asked about TikTok and got her dress from Walmart. - Asmodeus is the demon of lust. - They knew German and not Hebrew (haven’t seen the movie so can’t confirm this but going off the church sign). - Ability to use technology. - The community still interacting with the supposed exiled member instead of full on shunning. - For some reason, they found the Sam on 23andme.

@@AmandaTheJedi the post office Man saying "those are not amish was a great scene, simple, but of course the post Man knows the people, AND they they End it with "Mom?" To then actívate trap hole (Yugioh reference)
Yeah you don't need to stay an extra night just because your car doesn't work.
You can just walk out
RIGHTT
thanks to Helluva Boss the first thought that comes to mind when she mentioned asmodeus was "Gimme a thrust, show me some lust."
Honestly, I would love to see Amanda do a Let's Play of Until Dawn and Outlast, would be so much fun!
I believe she did Until Dawn but I might be wrong!!
Yes!!!
Edit: just looked it up, she did do that :D Gonna be off to those videos now.
The fact they have a church building would be a pretty dead giveaway that they aren't Amish.
I just googled this. I actually think that’s really cool
When I saw the trailer for this I was like “wait didn’t those stop?”
I just have to know what you thought of the "Fear Street" trilogy? Have you seen it?
All of them are amazing movies.
Other than excessive sexual content, I liked the trilogy.
I loooved them, and I would love to hear what Amanda thought about them
I really enjoyed them, just some good fun. Made a great afternoon binge
I didn't want some of the characters to die, I like some of them too much lol
Can’t wait for Final Destination 6, the only scary thing about those movies always was that they might make another one after all.
8:59 I know this video is two years old but at this point in the video I lean in to try and read the letter just as Amanda says “I actually paused on this thing…” and my video stops. I had to stop and look around my room at my own personal ghosts to be like did you do this shit? Lil spooky 😅
Asmodeus is Magnus' dad in shadow hunters btw - i could only think of that 😅
the way this whole movie Margot just cannot seem to keep shit to herself is what pissed me off like why tf are you telling Jacob you snuck into your mother’s old room and found that letter?? Why would you tell Sam that you snuck to that church that is literally forbidden???
your comedic timing was so perfect on this one lol you're quickly becoming one of my favourite content creators
After the short mention of Supernatural, I would love to see a breakdown of your favorite episode(s) now upon rewatch
petition to make Amanda watch all 15 season of supernatural and review them?
I felt it was very Blair Witch meets Midsommar without the sunlight
I was surprised they were still making these
yeah I heard they were playing trailers for it in the states that's wild to me
@@AmandaTheJedi can concur I saw the trailer in theaters and was kind of surprised when you said it was only on stream
That could've saved my circadian rhythm. 8 - 11 year old me was fully prepared to be the first victim so home invaders would then leave because my screams would alert my parents and the neighbors.
I was a selfless 8 year old 😅🤦♀️
I'm 26 years old today and now take sleeping meds.
Yeah, you would think Margo would Google things about it since she ya know? Had the tape and said herself that she looked to be being chased
I lived in MD for a few years in a small town. The Amish totally shopped at Walmart. Some even had cell phones.
Okay I know movie has to movie but I feel like any sane person would run after seeing the inside of that church and you know NOT GO INTO THE PIT
Honestly the few scenes you put in this seem fun to watch , dialogue and vibe wise ,so while its not flawless, im down to watch this
I didn't like any of the paranormal activity movies, but I liked this one.
As a big Supernatural fan, Sam would deal with the demon while Dean flirted with Margot lol
I am loving you editing the footage of your genuine reactions to the movie into the video. It’s a real way to incorporate your genuine reactions while still putting out a great review.
"Even if you started thinking about it too much some things start seeming dumb"
Like how they used the symbol of the Triple Moon Goddess in the trailer. As a Wiccan I get the whole "witch" troupe & using pentagrams & shit for "evil" visuals. But I honestly got a bit offended by it. Considering the Triple Moon Goddess is not in any way shape or form evil. And judging by Amanda's review here (haven't seen the movie) there was no pentagrams or "witchy" symbols other then there being a "white witch" I'm just confused on why they would use that particular symbol in the trailer when it's got nothing to do with the movie.
tbf better than showing 80% of the movie in teh trailer
So much this
Reminds me of how CAOS had the "Pagans" be evil and the satanic witches be good lmfao
@@NeloBladeOfRanni To be fair they made angels evil too 🤣 They did shift though by worshiping Hecate, which I approved of lol
@@Elora445 hades in general was the best god iirc.
also we should make a movie
So these guys really forgot about the DRONE they had and just went for the "spelunking into a hole" option, huh?
I love the detail you go into with the plot holes and what they could’ve/should’ve done better. You paint the picture really well 🎨
To me the way she says "do you have tik tok" sounds like the tone to ask someone "do you have tea"
I have watched 15 seasons of Supernatural and if need be, I'm saving myself.

Every thought I had about this video was thrown out the window the moment you brought up What We Do in the Shadows at the end lol it's like my favorite show right now!
Why did people dislike this? This looks like a solid watch tbh.
My weekend sleepless night is sorted
Did you ever watch the old Redwall cartoons? I always want to pronounce Asmodeus the way you do because of that series.
YESSS SUCH A GOOD SERIES
omg yes, the hissing snake asssssmodeussss with the hypnotic eyes 👀👀
Yes!! Thats how I first heard the name!!
@@filmfangirls9163 Same!
You posting this led me to find out that the cartoon is available on Tubi. So I know what I’m doing with the rest of my weekend
Damn man, I knew I recognized the guy who plays Chris in this but just realized he's the kid that Kim and Jimmy scam into taking a plea deal in season 5 of Better Call Saul. Wow, that's a random-ass connection.
The movie chosing Asmodeus as the demon made me cackle so much, cause the first time I'd heard of him was in a demon dating sim. 😂😭😂😭
4:03 saaaaaaame *trans energy intensifies* lol. Seeing reviews/youtube channels like this were part of what made me look at movies more critically, such as noticing the found footage quality issue.
I was like 15 when the first Paranormal Activity came out. That and the original Blaire Witch Project started my absolute love of found film horror movies. I'm really very sad that the PA franchise had taken a swan dive down the toilet.
“The Blair Witch Project” is THE found footage movie fight me.
15:38 *woman goes flying up into the ceiling* Amanda: “yup….there she goes.” 😂😂
I’m so glad you pointed out that this movie is like a rip off version of Outlast 2 because I was enjoying the movie while watching it, and then I got to the end and realized the aspects I actually liked about it were literally just taken from Outlast 2
this is more like REC than paranormal activity
one thing I found very fun watching this is the German writing on the church! Your translation was 100% correct, BUT it's also specifically something many parents say when their children overstep!
basically "So far and no further, or you will face the consequences"
it's of course also used in other contexts, but if that was intentional, it's a nice touch!
Well said, Jedi.
I feel bad for the writers of this movie. The movie was kind of creepy, well done, but it wasn't a PA movie, clearly, and they stuck that shit title on it and now no one will see it.
It honestly might be the bets of the series, ironically.
It had REC vibes, and I even woulda accepted it was:
Blair Witch: Amish Edition
but not a PA movie.
This flick had actual creepy shit and not doors moving and sheets being pulled.
Ngl, I completely forgot it was a Paranormal Activity movie in the process of watching this video until I just read this comment
How was that movie well done? It was clearly a cash grab and milking a franchise that died at the fourth one.
@@francislachapelle123 No one got pulled by an invisible person. The scares weren't vapid bangs and doors moving slightly. The story was fairly well thought out and had a decent pace. The creature was creepy, and the location was atmospheric and effective, and the characters all had somewhat decent arcs and were far more likable that MICAHHHHHH..MICAHHHHHHHHHH...MICAHHHHHHHH....and it had a satisfying ending. There you go, fun dance, bruh. Okay little one, your turn, now tell me why it was so bad and you wish you never watched it and other things legitimately no one cares about....
I don’t see any comment so I’ll say it, loved the mix of the recordings while seeing the movie and the thought after all please continue doing this I love it 🥰✨
I love your channel! Side note though, I like that the hint about not being Amish included going to Walmart. I live in Ohio aka the state with almost as many Amish as PA. And I don't live in the Amishy part but my dad's family does. And like my aunt takes vans full of Amish people on trips to Walmart
So the demon only jumps in one bloodline from woman to woman? But they wanted to sacrifice the last and only woman in that bloodline. What were they going to do when the daughters body finally gives out???
I keep getting ads for this movie and it looked sooooo bad omg. Let this series rest already please
This is one of the few things she has reviewed that I watched before she reviewed it. And almost everything she said in this video is almost word for word on how I felt about it myself.
I loved having your genuine reactions interspersed with your video essay, it was GREAT!
My dumb ass heard Asmodeus and instantly thought of Obey Me 😂
Ok look, I need you to look into The Owl House.
This looks like Midsummer knockoff except the characters are even more dumb and less isolated, making it even weirder that they stay so long.
I really want to know what the height limit on the effects of a salt circle is. Like, if a demon is riding on a plane and passes over a salt circle, do they get yeeted out of the plane?
LMAOO
I’m glad you’re feeling better!
WHY WOULD THEY NOT LEAVE?! IT WOULD'VE BEEN SO EASY TO WRITE IN THEIR CAR BEING DAMAGED.
I cannot watch found footage shows because I get super duper sick from the camera movements. So I'm glad I get to watch you "enjoy" it haha.
The term for taking an unrelated movie and attaching a dead IP to it should be called "Cloverfielding"
Now *there's* an idea for a horror movie.
But the demon would’ve gotten out anyway because the vessel was dying. That’s why they lured Margot in.
Nice to see you again, great video as always, sorry to hear you got sick, glad you're well
I watched Foundflix’s video on this and I was thinking how many weird things that clearly foreshadowed that they weren’t really Amish.
The last one specifically stood out to me like, whether he made one afterthefact, it still wouldn't make sense, but then again, since they where trying to trick Margo, they probably aren't related at all
@@pixiestxNyomouf - Oh. I know they’re most likely not but it’s something that would be a red flag like “Oh, they’re supposed to be Amish, so why is he on here?” Type of thing. But I suppose that’s why he said he was cast out.
@@iB0NKERS true, but it still wouldn't make since cause, like you said,, they wouldn't have any means of keeping up with bloodlines, heritage and ect. Just goes to show you how naive ppl can be to red flags, even in 2021 lol
@@pixiestxNyomouf - I think another part is that she’s desperate to find a connection to where she came from too, which made her easily targetable. Sarah should’ve left a note. Lol.
What if Asmodeous is her father? Like, we don't know what happened with her mother and her preparation for sacrifice
