I have played CG extensively and i can tell that the atmosphere of the game is WAY better than new games of the same kind. Everything is in the right place. This sountrack really explains what you experience in the game. Never found another W40K game so well placed.
@Baxolo i got introduced to WH40k universe with this game when i was 10 back in 1998 and i completely fell in love with the series. feels so lucky to get the full taste of enjoyment as a kid and got introduced to the series by its best =)))
Heh, yeah. Also, thanks for the blast from the past, it's really fun to read my own comments and watch the videos I'd watched from 4 years back, or even longer.
I own an original copy of Chaos Gate, apart from a few buggy stuff, the game is pretty fun - especially if you're into tbs. Aaaand iirc last time ran it, did that under win95 compatibility or something like that. The best part is, imo, it really really reflects the tabletop WH40 play style plus the awesome music.
I was looking around and didn't find one. These are all chants. The Latin Gregorian chants are named by the chorus, which is repeated a few dozen times. The full chorus of that track is Rebus Mortis Felix Mortis, "By deeds of death is the fortune of death."
I've always loved this soundtrack. Appropriate that I listen to this while I do my Latin homework. I wish Warhammer 40,000 had more mainstream attention. So much lore, so deep, such epic heroes and vile villains... better than Star Wars, IMO.
God DAMN it, this game just rules as far as soundtracks are concerned. It really fits the 40k universe perfectly. Gothic, sombre, heroic, aggressive all at the same time. No offence to DoW, great game with good music... But this is the kind of stuff they should have used for it. It is the very definition of what 40k should sound like. I can not imagine anything better. That said, I never got to try Chaos Gate. Probarbly couldn't even run it on my rig. Due to the age of the game, I mean.
@eoltheelf I honestly just popped the CD in and it worked, although it did surprise me because the last time I tried to play it I had problems I think. Final Liberation I can't alt-tab out of it or it crashes.
After listening to 2:26 to 4:30, I learned something horrible about myself: If I were given a gun, and that music were playing, I would happily go on a rampage to purge the unclean in the name of the Emperor.
I completely agree; this music just felt so emotional and distinctive; Dawn of war music is only epic till you hear this then you realize this is a million times better :) It's almost like Duke Nukem Forever's music score compared to Duke Nukem 3D's; barring Duke Nukem Forever's main theme the level music just did not feel distinct like Duke Nukem 3D's.
It was great, loved it, still remember when we got it and installed it on our 10 000kr pc with Windows 95 and 10GB Hard Drive. Loved it to death. And I totally agree, this music fits the universe of 40k perfectly. Hope they make another turn based Warhammer 40k game with equally epic music. And no, don't come with "but they made Space Hulk" that game wasn't even close to this, and especially not in the soundtrack part. THIS ONE, with new graphics and same music and able to run on Win7 :)
How did you do it? It runs with my version of XP, but crashes often. I'm trying to run it on a virtual machine, but that didn't work out well, doesn't support win98. So, you surely did some trick, didn't you?
Well, touch luck there, friendo, there are no mutants, heretics, or xenos for you to purge. And killing another human with said gun would not be in the name of the emperor, unless they were under the thrall of Chaos, but then they're not considered Human.
There were no Latin dictionary in medieval. For instance Christ, was written Christi, Xristi and so on. Other example, Czersk - polish province. There were over 10 versions of its name. Ofcourse there are plenty of similar exaples, so don't bother yourself about correctness of these words. What matters is that we understand them :P
+Christian Dauz Darkhoras was referring to the "Ultramarines Chant" section of the video. Which the producer of this video tried to only show pictures of Astartes from the Ultramarines.
3:14 Crimson Fists 3:40 again Crimson Fists 3:49 Soul Drinkers (Cover art from Russian version of Soul Drinkers book) 4:06 again Crimson Fist It was OK, if Crimson Fists were secondary chapter from Ultramarines, but they are second chapter of Imperial Fists.
All is good, but (nerd alert) the Crimson Fists have nothing to do with the Ultramarines (in the Ultramarine Chant), except for being blue space marines. Cheers :D
If u like this tunes i recommend u to watch the intro to Final Fantasy 8. You will admit that its pretty similar and hasnt to stand behind the WH40K Chaos Gate tracks. On Topic: I love this shit, loved it ever since its release. Unfortunately i lent this game to an xxxxx some years ago never getting it back, so it was lost for me for many years. But luckily i was able to find another original on a peddlars market some month ago. Hell im a lucky bitch :-D
My best memory of this soundtrack is listening to this while playing Mideviel 2: Total War. The first song played as my enormous army of Templars enigmaticly marched through the bloody streets of Jerusalem, slaughtering the minor Muslim resistance wherever they appeared. It was glorious as they slowly marched into the enemy formations and broke through them with little effort. Any stragglers trying to run or reinforce the groups were torn to shreds by insane volleys of arrows before anything.
I read this comment 2 years ago, and since then I have been thinking "penis fortress" everytime I have seen something remotely resembling space marines. Every. Fucking. Time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Funny that Warcraft and ST were originally going to be based in the Warhammer universes and then GW pulled out. The GOOD people at Blizz admit that they got most of their inspiration from games like WH and DnD and don't pretend to be original

Thanks for posting this! Haven't played the game in 12 years but I still find myself humming some of the tracks.
Literally most epic music I have ever heard. To be played at every warhammer match from now on.
The ultramarine chant, finally something I remember :P Been so long since I played this game
No worries, the great classics will live on. Great to see other people share my love of it :P
Yeah, it also makes great music to work out to, it gets you pumped!
The name of the third song (unknown title) is Rebus Mortis, which is Latin for "By Deeds of Death"
ahhhh...the old days, great memories.
No idea what Chaos Gate is, but its music is really amazing.
It's an old Warhammer 40k game for pc which is really similar to the table top game.
Love this sound track and the old 2nd edition.
That chant starts off with all the power and ferocity of a sledgehammer-blow to the crotch. I literally jumped off my chair at the first beat.
Heh, yeah. Also, thanks for the blast from the past, it's really fun to read my own comments and watch the videos I'd watched from 4 years back, or even longer.

pretty much every warhammer game has the greatest soundtracks
still here....
part of my playlist when gaming and kicking general arse.
2:25
What you're really here for.
+Josh Sierakowski Actually I looked this up for 0:07. Well, to each their own.
Fuck, this was accurate
One of the best game soundtracks I've ever seen ... also quite a good game ( even though I don't like Ultramarines )

I'm currently playing it on Windows XP Professional, Final Liberation works also.
Hard to say what has a better soundtrack, DoWII or Chaos Gate? Both have good tracks, both fit the universe.
"Hereis Moltres." Once heard, cannot be unheard. :P
You mean Thunder hammer right? Also a storm shield would do a fine job of protecting your 'sensitive areas' :)

Yeah, I'll give a try sometime. Thanks
So glad that GOG released a version fixed for modern OS'S
GOG? Where and how please?
Thanks
Ps. Sequel announced for 2022.
This is not so, I ran this game under a windows 7 rig, it's quirky to get to work, but it does work. Awesome game, awesome music.
Cool stuff, Win. XP professional is what I've got also. Thank, I might give it a try sometime.
Ultramarine Chant is the name of that part.
Thanks :D
Chaos gate can run on fairly new rigs actually.
Have it myself, it's epic :P
I just to disable some weird graphics option.
So, where can I download all these songs? These are freaking great. :D
TheUberGravy use savetube. works gr8
SUPER MARINI...
no seriously i dont understand crap but i love it
is there a special name for the theme at 2:26 ? OMG is fucking awesome!!! "track*"
When I first got to the end of Chaos gate I managed to one-shot Zymran with a multi melta :P
This one has alot of Unknown titles, what is the name of the song at 0:12, 4:42, and 6:49?
How did you do it? It runs with my version of XP, but crashes often. I'm trying to run it on a virtual machine, but that didn't work out well, doesn't support win98. So, you surely did some trick, didn't you?

8:03 (6:40)
Yeah, it has compatibility problems in NT. But you can run it in WINE, I tried it!
@amig90 it's "Iraes Fortes"..wich means wrath of the mighty..but your version is way cooler..^^

Chaos gate. DOW music is very very good, but lacks the darker elements that mark the universe. Esp. chanting.
Hm... Someone didn't see difference between Crimson Fists and Ultramarines...
Haha, that is very true. I thought I was the only one that noticed it. One picture even showed Soul Drinkers.
+3forte The guy used images from all WH40k sources.
+Christian Dauz Darkhoras was referring to the "Ultramarines Chant" section of the video. Which the producer of this video tried to only show pictures of Astartes from the Ultramarines.
+3forte Yeah. Now, I have found them (Soul Drinkers) too.
3:14 Crimson Fists
3:40 again Crimson Fists
3:49 Soul Drinkers (Cover art from Russian version of Soul Drinkers book)
4:06 again Crimson Fist

use microsoft virtual pc, and put win98 on it :)
you can set it up in like 30 mins (includeing the op sys install)

Yeah I suppose so.
kleenex, cornflakes, kleenex, cornflakes..........nice chant =D
FOR THE EMPRAH!!!!!
Agitatis Ultramarini!
Dominitis Ultramarini!
Non praestatis Ultramarini!
Nobilitis Ultramarini!
Chaos Innumeratis! Chaos vobis apportatis!
Rough translation (it's not proper Latin):
Rise, Ultramarines!
Conquer, Ultramarines!
Don't give in, Ultramarines!
Be noble, Ultramarines!
Chaos beckons!
Chaos is coming!
er ehm the "4th" song, first one in this video

Ultramarine Chant > Skyrim main theme? I think maybe.
Tell call us smurfs i call they dead
wth are you trying to say?
True. But still, Blizzard games do not have a fraction of the atmosphere or style that GW's properties do.

It's me
I'm real
