    I love this pattern and you do such an awesome job teaching us!! I changed up the top by adding an elastic hair band. I added on a row after your last row. I chained 1 and did 23 sc around the elastic band and then finished off.

    Love the pattern. I have a tip I learned I will share with you. When you are slip stitching your rib cuff together, instead of slip stitching through both thicknesses, slip stich through the back stitch of the side the hook is on and the front loop of the other side. You will have a less noticeable ridge.

    • @yvonnemetz1
      @yvonnemetz1  6 лет назад

      Sharon, Awesome Tip and thanks for sharing it. I've been playing around with that part for awhile and saw it done the way you explained and it works great! Thank you for watching!

    It's great being able to follow along, pause or go back and watch certain parts. Some crochet patterns can be very confusing. Made the hat but wanted it enclosed at the top so at the end I followed the pattern but did a round of single crochet after every decrease until the hole was small then just sewed it up....I'm very happy, thx for such a great tutorial!!!

    thank you for making the video... just finishing up my first one, I create a beanie instead of messy bun opening. I change to having where I first chain at the beginning of base part of pattern rows, I did first sc or dc around the ch and dc doing fpdc it fully work and you can not see seam joint... I repeated rows 2 to row 6 /4 times. Ending with row 4dc row then row 3 fpsc. The next 5 rows dec rows , then sewed top together, and tie off. I used Red heart Super Saver /Stripes /Latte. then adding a pompom to finish it off

    It's this level for beginners or more advanced? I started to learn how to knitt, but I'm wanting to try crocheting. Loved the outcome of the hat!!

    • @yvonnemetz1
      @yvonnemetz1  6 лет назад

      Hi there Hmmm good question as some beginners have made this hat. Some of the stitches might be a little advanced but not really hard. I don't want to discourage you to try it. But how about watching the video all the way til the repeat part? Sorry if this doesn't help. If you know the basics then it might not be to bad.

    Thank you. Great video and design. What weight yarn are you using?
    Also, when you were joining the brim, I couldn't tell if you were going through both stitches of both sides, or just the two stitches on one end and one stitch on the other end?

    • @yvonnemetz1
      @yvonnemetz1  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Julia, Thank you for your comment! I'm using a #4 worsted yarn. Yes I go through both stitches on one side and 1 stitch on the other side which is the first row. How that helps. Thank you for watching!

      @yvonnemetz1  6 лет назад

      Hi there, you make it smaller by decreasing at the end. I show it at the end of the Video. Stay tuned though I am going to do another Video of this Pattern but doing a Full Hat and Showing the Messy Bun Version also. Thank you for watching.

  • @sweetsher58

    I wonder if you don't join at the brim and keep crocheting the rows until u get to last 4 rows, then sew up the sides ..then finish off the last 4..

    • @yvonnemetz1
      @yvonnemetz1  6 лет назад

      Hi Sherry, I am not sure how that would work as this is done in the round. Not sure I understand what you are asking! Thanks for watching.

    • @medicgrrl123
      @medicgrrl123 6 лет назад

      You could, but it might look a little different because you would have to turn, instead of going in a round. It's definitely not impossible to do it that way.

    • @yvonnemetz1
      @yvonnemetz1  7 лет назад

      Hi Tara, so sorry to hear that. Did you measure your head size? I know mine is 21 1/2 and I make my brim til it measures 19" approx. it will stretch. Let me know if there's anything else I can help you with.

  • @annemcaninch6466
    @annemcaninch6466 7 лет назад +1

    I followed this pattern to the letter.... I assumed since the pictures shown an adult that this was for an adult.... is it? I did the 62 and this MIGHT fight a small child. Is it supposed to be for a small child? It is NO where close to fitting my ~21" head, and there is no way it will stretch that much.

    • @yvonnemetz1
      @yvonnemetz1  7 лет назад

      Hi Anne, it's suppose to fit an Adult size head yes. Mine is 21 1/2 and I made my brim til it reached approx. 19" and it fits. Did you measure the brim? Thanks for watching.

      @yvonnemetz1  7 лет назад +1

      Hi Deanna, You are very welcome! I'm not positive as the designer made this for Adult size. BUT I know it has been done. Maybe smaller hook. Since you're starting with the brim you need to measure the head then make the brim about 1 1/2" smaller (it will stretch) then go from there. Hope this helps - if not don't hesitate to message me - Thanks for watching.

      Not sure what size hook you are using for the Adult Hat. But I'm thinking all you need to do is go down a hook size. When I tested this Hat for Diana I used the size she did which was "H" and it came out small. I crochet tight. Try that and it should work.
