Austin. You may not realize this, but you may be the most thoughtful, realistic, and knowledgeable Dodger ”talking head” I’ve heard that’s not on the Dodger payroll. There are many “rah-rah” guys who are good at talking to the everyday, less analytical fan, but you are the only person I can listen to for more than 5 minutes. I won’t miss another one of your shows. 🙏
I really appreciate the feedback. It truly means a lot. There are a lot of talented people who talk Dodgers baseball on this platform, many of which I listen to and would encourage anyone to tune into. I try to intentionally look at things from a different perspective, and I think my closeness to the minor league system in Great Lakes and my insight into analytical knowledge provides a different angle for Dodgers fans to ponder. I love talking baseball, so I'm happy to hear it is reaching a different audience than other shows. Hope to see you again for future shows!
It’s really cool that the Dodgers have been making trades with your home state team. That way you get to see Sweeney, Liranzo, and Leonard. Tigers have always been my favorite AL team
I always root for the guys in the system regardless of who they get traded to, as long as they get better opportunities to showcase their skills. It is really cool to have the Tigers here in state not only to continue to see these guys regularly, but the Tigers have a much more focus on giving younger players opportunities at the big league level. It's the best of both worlds here for me and for the prospects, which is cool to watch! Will always have a soft spot and be a fan of the Tigers!
Thank you, Austin. Good insight. I think we should just run it back for the position players and add three pitchers with at least two LHP (preferably Sasaki, Kikuchi & Snell). Give our youngsters, like Dalton Rushing, a chance.
I love Gavin, but we’re too deep in lefty bats. This is also where I’m not thrilled with the move to Soto short term, but as Freeman & Muncy contracts wind down, that will provide some flexibility options. This is why I think it’s a necessity to sign Teo. Outman & Rushing, unfortunately are lefty bats too. I can see one of them being traded before season starts (unfortunately it would probably be Rushing as he’s a hotter ticket, a la Michael Busch)
What about trading for SS JP Crawford of the Mariners? He has 2 years / $23 million left on his deal. He had a down year offensively last year, after a solid 2023, but is one of the best defensive SS in MLB.
He's another decent option to keep in mind on the trade block! I don't know the Mariner's situation at SS, so I don't know their willingness to trade him. However, if Adames and Kim sign elsewhere, that might be a good player to pivot to!
He hasn't played a ton of 3rd, but he has the ability to if needed. Right now, the focus is on developing his abilities at short, and he is athletic enough to transition to 3rd if needed. Best case scenario is SS, 3rd if necessary. He's a really good athlete.
I wouldn’t mind seeing the Dodgers sign a guy like Grichuk and letting him back up Outman and Pages where James sits against tough lefties and Randall sits against righties. Pages can play a corner OF and move to CF when Outman isn’t. Then Dave can play the hottest bat if one breaks out. Then go after a free agent SS.
I could see that potentially being an option if the Dodgers don't bring back Teoscar Hernandez (which I think is likely the case). There just isn't a ton of room on the bench (1 open spot if Barnes, Rojas, and Taylor is on the bench), and that's not including bringing back Kike. We could look into those alternatives in future shows, but I still think the most likely scenario includes Teo and Kike coming back to LA, which leaves 1 free agent they could get (either a CF or SS). And that doesn't include Outman on the roster to start the season (unless you get Kim, and Kim starts the season on the IL). Dodgers have a lot of talented players, which is a good problem to have!
@ I’m not so sold on Teoscar coming back because I think he’ll get better offers and LA was his opportunity to get a big payday. Maybe the QO keeps the offers lower than I expect though

Can Freeland play 3rd base 1:27:10

I forgot about Edman. Dodgers really are loaded

It's Bregman and hell no to anyone from that 2017 cheating Trashtros team.
