@FootDoctorZach What things do you like better about the Adidas Barricade over the Babolat Jet Mach 3? Is there anything the Jet Mach 3's do better over the Barricades? Thanks in advance
Badminton shoes are a great alternative if you want low profile indoor shoes! They range from basketball like shoes, to minimal cushioning square toebox shoes, and alot more!
Thanks Dr Zach. Your suggestion in the past to create a template of your foot led me to the Barricade 2.5-3 years ago. I've never been more confident in my play! Thanks again for such terrific advice!
Love your reviews! Question: For pickleball, how does the Sketchers Viper Pro compare on outdoor courts with the Adidas Barricade 2023? I watched your review of the Sketchers, but trying to compare. I’m looking for most quick reacting shoe that has the best traction.
i use the PG6 and the NewBalance WXY V3 for pickleball all the time specifically outdoor surfaces not hardwood......i noticed the PG wear much more on the outdoor courts than the NB but they both are very comfortable and supportive....If the V4 were better color combos, I would think of them, but I really like the look of the V3 and the tread durabilty....all my shoes came because of Zach's recommendations and I have not been let down...PS, I also have the Babalot but haven't worn them very much since I got ahold of the PG's and the V3's
When might we see the Babalot Jet Mach 4? Improvements are there for the taking. 1. The glued on logo peels off the 3. 2. The rubber separates from the top of the shoe fabric at the bend point.
Love my Jet Mach 3s and Propulse Furys, but the stitching is sub par in my opinion. Outsole warranty doesn’t matter if the rest of the shoe falls apart.
thanks for the recommendations. As a tennis player- I loved Adidas for hardcourt. I had a clay court shoe from Adidas even though I only played on clay about 10 times. I will never play pickleball on hardwood indoor , but thanks for the outdoor recommendations
I just bought the Vapor 9.5s (based on your reviews!) I've been playing in the Vapor 11s, but have seriously worn down the rubber, especially the medial forefoot, and figured I should move on. The 11s instantly resolved what felt like turf toe (guessing ?sesamoiditis/tendinitis) from wearing random shoes to play in - but I have skis for feet and could never get them tight enough (even with two pairs of socks), and I felt like they slowed both my first step and straight line runs. I'm a bit worried about losing the forefoot Zoom Air, but looking forward to being better locked in and more nimble. (And maybe less like an elephant? 😬 Funny your description of high-arched folks, I get made fun of for how loud my steps can be.)
Zachary FitVille Amadeus V1. A friend recommended them. Can you do a review please. FitVille are sold out on there Plantar Fasciitus shoe so this was next best for me. Very nice looks but I need an opinion on construction and wear testing please. Thank you sir, hey saw you on Bloomberg wow nice gig Zach proud of you man! 👍
Zach, What's a good shoe for pickleball if you have recurring plantar fasciitis? I ordered some Yonex Power Cushion Eclipsion 4's based on your tennis shoe video from a few years ago...not sure if they'll be OK for pickleball (I am a beginner). Thanks!
Just played in the Books and *loved* them. Maybe it's because I played basketball my entire life? I know I either can't play in them often, or I need to plan on buying replacements more frequently, because I'm guessing this sole will wear out quick. I want to try the NBs next.
I'm curious where the Ubersonic 4.1 would fall on this list. Or why Its no longer a competitor here. Would think they are a bit more lightweight than Barricades.@@FootDoctorZach
I broke my ankle while wearing the Babolot Mach 3's. Think now that I'm going to start trying to play p-ball again that I will try the Asics Gel Res 9's for better lateral stability. I still can't figure out why I went down and broke my ankle. I was only taking a step back to the right to return a long serve. The temp court was on a slight grade and I was on the upside looking down. I'll never play on a temp court again.
The forces are just better for longer runs - not as tightly tuned for smaller areas- still not a bad shoe for pickle by any means just not as good as others IMO
Awesome video. I get sore ankles after playing pickleball, what pickleball shoe would you recommend? A coach said I should look at a high top basketball shoe as I don't think there's many hi-top choices for pickleball. Do you agree?
Hey Zach....may u pls do an outdoor durability test on the mbo3 especially with the drill thingy on the toe and top inner foot cuz I'm an aggressive player who slides a lot so I wanna know if they will last outdoors before I cop them
@footdoctorzach I'm a heavier player with fairly high volume wide feet (like 4e). I play a lot on outdoor courts and i'm debating between the two wxy v4 and just getting the diadoras. Would you happen to have any thoughts?
Having only really been into basketball for 30+ years, I figured a low “court feel” basketball shoe would be good for pickleball, which I just recently started playing. Tried the Curry 10 for basketball. Didn’t like it because it doesn’t have enough cushion. But it sure does make a great pickleball shoe. Only downside is the Flow outsole will not be lasting very long on outdoor courts.
Thank you for telling about new balance shoe. Can that be used for squash or badminton kind of game as well ? I currently use asics rocket 11 but it isnt working for wide foot man. I am 210lbs 6'1
Great video as always. Quick question on the Adidas Barricade. I wonder if the shoe is appropriate if you are on the high arche side. I compete in pickleball tournaments and recently I tore my peroneus longus tendon. Yes nothing I cant do on this. I have to go to PT to strengthen muscles. No surgery. The Brevis tendon is fine. I have been playing with the Adidas court boost and previously with the NIKE Nike Air Zoom Vapor Pro. I prefer low to the ground shoes. I can insert wedges in the shoes to help as I have the tendency to pronate a bit but I am looking for a shoe to help my foot not turn while friendly to my Achilles. Thanks in advance
The Head Revolt Pro 4.0’s are nice. Let alone, a 6 month outsole warranty. I recently just bought a pair for $60 in the tennis section, so essentially I paid $30 for a pair of pickleball shoes lol
Most indoor courts at rec centers use a laminate type flooring. I've found that my shoes tend to stick when it's humid. Others I play with have the same experience. The last time mine stuck, I went down and broke my arm. I'm looking for a better solution while I'm healing. Any suggestions for those types of floors?
So if the Adidas updated Barricade is your #1 top outdoor pickleball shoe, where does it stand next to the Mizuno Wave Enforce Tour - which has been your #1 top outdoor tennis shoe - for tennis then, Zach? Where would you place the new Barricade in your Tennis Top 5 now?
Do you mostly play on wooden floors indoors in the US? I think in Europe we do tend to play on Badminton "rubber courts", which have very different grip requirements from both wood and hard court.
Yes. Most indoor is wooden floors like for basketball, with the best indoor places having the same surface as outdoor tennis courts. Never played on a rubber badminton court, but it sounds nice.
Not directly related to the video, but would you recommend wearing a low-drop shoe to ease symptoms of plantar fasciitis? Tried looking online but there seems to be a lot of mixed results.
I bought the New Balance 2WYV4 they shipped on Nov 3ed of 2023 and Its Dec 31 of 2023 and the tread is already smooth on both shoes but the smooth patch is larger on my right foot. I play pickleball on an outdoor court at local park in Austin as well as a painted court at the gym that is about as textured as the outdoor tennis courts at the local parks around town. The Shoe is well built and does feel good but the tread is seriously lacking the durability I was hoping for. Pretty disappointed. If I were able to upload pictures I would do so. I'm going to review them on the New Balance site. Maybe I will be able to upload pictures there.
Thanks. Will try those. I have the Game Day Pro as well and it doesn’t wear on the big toes. However my right foot PF flares up constantly with the Game Day Pro but not with the Powerstep.
@FootDoctorZach Any thoughts on using a quality skateboard shoe for pickleball? I can't find any comments or advice online about this. I recently tried on ( and bought) the Adidas Tyshawn Jones Low Skateboard Shoes and plan to wear my PowerStep inserts with them. The fit and support feel very good especially when making quick side to side motions. The tread also seems similar to other court shoes I see as well so it should prove very grippy. It just got me thinking they might make a decent or good Pickleball shoe....especially since skate shoes tend to have higher quality b/c they take such a beating. Thanks
Zack, I have tried countless pickleball/tennis shoes. After about 10 times court usage knees ache and the start of shin splints. When I wear my Hoka bondi 8 all gone and never have a problem. Of course the bottoms chop up quickly. After tons more research I’m now trying the NB 996v5- . Thought I’d got it right but starting have those problems again so rotating my hokas in. Wondering if it’s the tow to heel drop or the actually cushioning. Not sure what to do. MB

I might be wrong but does the the video freeze from @2:13 to @2:37 ??
Yes! I had to skip ahead to continue. Weird.
I’ve only worn basketball shoes, Two Wxy v3/v4 for outdoors, and Curry 11s for indoor clean courts. Great stuff!!
For outdoor pb i luv the Way of Wade Fission 8. Grip is outstanding and very comfortable and stable
How are yours holding up? I’ve only had mine for 5 weeks and the tread on the edge by my big toe on both feet is completely smooth.
@@JflipJedi i rotate a bunch of sneakers so not much wear and tear on them yet

Is the badminton shoes good for basketball?
Badminton shoes have better outsoles that grip the wooden floor better than most of these shoes above.

That midsole on the Barricade reminds me of the Trae Young 1...

@FootDoctorZach do you reccomend the barricade to be used in badminton (taraflex court)?
Zach, do you have the best minimalist (not barefoot), wide toebox, and NO arch support (zero drop) shoe?
close bet would be a badminton shoe, VICTOR A830IV wide toebox with minimal cushioning.
Found out recently there's a pickleball sneaker company called Tyrol. Curious how they would fare.
