May only be saying this due to being biased and being a fav player of mine, but I reckon we are making a big mistake on this. I get that the club is thinking long term but to not give him 2 years is silly. We're making it sound like being a senior player is a bad thing, we need that experience and depth of knowledge, especially in the forward line now. Best of luck Membrey, genuine legend.
You aren't the only one this is flat out bad decision. How whole forward line only started to function properly when we got him back last year. Sure Max will be thrilled to have just one more defender that doesn't have to be accountable float over to him instead!
It's a very valid statement. I've been very vocal about how this is a shocking call. If we had traded for something than I understand but to let him walk is stupid. Give him 2 years (we get another good season for him while we develop) and trade him for a pick 50 on wards next year. Our current tall forward stocks are not good. Caminiti and Sharman combined 33 goals in 33 games this season and Membrey kicked 30 in 19. We all know King is a liability and they've decided to chuck all our chips in that basket. It could work as a miracle, but going off past history there's a fair chance King's body can't hold up next season and then we're left to Sharman and Caminiti whilst also having a big hole in defence.
Good luck Tim! Loved watching you. The first time I signed as a Saints member was your very first game for StKilda against GWS and watched you take a contested mark and kick your first AFL goal right in front of me against Heath Shaw. You will be a great fit at Collingwood. Sounds like we are gonna back in either Max Heath or Isaac Keeler to take a next step hopefully
A" long time ago, I watched Tim play in the Teal Cup Grand Final for Gippsland Power, he was the best player on either side. But with 30 seconds to go, Jack Macrae kicked a goal for Oakleigh Chargers, and they won the final. Jack went to Bulldogs, Tim went to Sydney, and 2 years later he came to the Saints. now 11 (maybe 12) years later Tim and Jack are ships passing in the night. Thanks Tim, you have been great. Welcome Jack, we look forward to your contribution.
Thanks Saints. Always respected Tim Membrey. Good mark/kick - consistently gives a good contest. Go Skunk- handy pickup for the Pies , share the load/insurance for Brody Mihocek and Daniel McStay who both missed games through injury this year. Go Pies (& Best of luck Sainters too)
Thank u Tim for the memories at the st kilda football club and wishing you the best at the pies u will always be a sainter and when is our premiership window coming Jake
If we can land Brayshaw &/or LDU next year, as well as Leek Aleer (we tested the water with him this year) & King stays fit...finals window should be open in 26 - once we make finals, anything's possible...
Very good video, esp. tribute to John Beveridge. Appreciate the thoughts for Tim Membrey, he'll likely be a good addition to Collingwood and will provide the younger guys at St.Kilda better opportunities, so it's likely to be a win-win for both clubs.
Well said on Bevo 😢, Sorry to see Members go but it’s understandable, we have so many youthful options in the 3rd tall role with the inclusion of either Smillie / Langford. Interesting to see what the compo pick will be used for ( another tall forward) .
Such a stupid decision letting Tim go! We need his experience and leadership. Oh St.Kilda you will regret this. I wish Tim all the very best, he had to look after himself and his family. He has been a wonderful servant to the Saints, thank you. So sorry to see him go, he was always a favourite of mine. Good luck x
Go Shunk! Will be cheering you along even at the Pies! I guess the Fwds will be - Higgins / Wilson / Hill Sharman / King / Owens? With Henry, Butler, Phillipou, Wood, Marshall, Caminiti & Garcia as likely playing options. Maybe some internal growth and potential pick ups, we can definitely score more, just need to win clearances with effective disposal i50.
@@majesticgorgon HF. Henry Sharman Owens F. Higgins King Butler Hill & Wilson wing, Pou will be majority mid next year, Caminiti to be trained at CHB & since we didn't take Soldo - Marshall majority Ruck. Wood still wing/resting fwd...Collard, Hall & Keeler could get a run depending on injuries/form etc...
@@Delroy-z1g Hmm, Hill definitely plays a lot more half fwd under Ross, although he is usually in that Wood / Byrnes / Other Mid rotation. Definitely would not be surprised if Wilson plays wing, he was just so good on the HFF this year though. I think your Fwd line kicks more goals FWIW!
Skunk a Pie? That's too bad, really. I don't fully understand it. What do we get for it? Zero. What have we lost from it? Maybe a bit of heart. Possibly a lot of forward grunt. The proof of any decision is in the outcome. If our forward line clicks, and we make the 8 in 2025, it won't matter. Good luck to him. He's given a lot to the game, and it has cost him dearly. But it won't feel so easy going, if he kicks 3 or 4 against us in a tight match.
As a Pies supporter didn’t have a strong reaction either as I’ve been familiar with his career but wasn’t across his current form so I assumed he was on his last legs for the Saints to let him go. Excited though to now hear of Saints supporters’s disappointment, no offence.
Sorry to see Tim go, but he isn't the future. I'm thinking Mason Wood will be used forward more next year. Has shown he has great forward craft and a great mark I expect a forward line of Higgins Caminiti Butler Wood King Sharman. Then have Owens Henry and Pou also rotating through there.I think NWM will be on a wing more permanently with McCrae and Sincs to rotate the HB/Midfield rolls. Arie to fill Battles place and Hammer to swing back at times also. GMO.
As much as I like Tim Membrey I don't think he was deserving of more than one more year on the list. I don't have the stats but I don't think he and Max King played all that well together, so to me he was now more for depth rather than in the weekly best 23, which is probably what SOS & Co would have decided.... If, as Jake contends, Membrey is not part of the team to contend for a premiership, isn't it best to get as many games as possible into the other 2 tall forwards, Cooper Sharman and Anthony Caminiti to complement Max King?
Like anyone he needs job security. He has a family. A year isn't long to re-establish yourself. Besides we could have offered him two years with a clause if he didn't play a certain number of games. His experience and leadership around the younger players is invaluable itself.

We're stunned that we got him at Pies!. My favourite Saints player over the last couple of years.

Awaiting the re-signing news of Hayes!

Against bottom 6 teams he’ll run rampant so he’ll kick 7 against us on his return

It reduces our forward options and probably more pressures on Mitch Owens on a HFF to perform closer to his potential.
I really like accurate forwards, so I enjoyed watching him play. All the best, I hope he does well.
Cannot believe we are not giving him a 2 year deal. He has been unbelievable for us. Don't understand how we believe this guy does not help us.
RIP John Beveridge, and my condolences go to his family, especially Luke and the St Kilda Football Club who he has been synonymous with for many years
R.I.P.

Condolences to Luke, his mum and family.
My favourite saints player,it's a shame for us,gave his all for us. Hope he gets a flag with the pies. I'll still watch him. Should've kept him😢
Good on Tim. He's been offered an opportunity to win a flag.

Tim will be a great addition for us. Welcome to the Pies Tim and let's get that flag together!
So wrong!!!!!!!! Yes, we needed him to continue. He was solid and reliable.
RIP Bevo❤️
Big mistake! Tim is a reliable kick for goal and a very strong mark when his opponent is harassing him.

The hardest part of letting go is saying goodbye...
Club really should give there supporters a reason why they let Tim go considering lyons history letting players go it's concerning e.g Luke Ball
Why hasn't the club said something about Tim

Good decision we need to keep generating more youth.
Disappointed. We could’ve given him 2 years.
