- This is Cooper Sharman's year to really break out. Tim Membrey is no longer around, and that means he is one of our more experienced forwards, and with that, comes more responsibility.

Essendon game later in year was his breakout game..
Reckon he’s never really been given a chance to settle. Sub, then Sandy, then defender a bit, then when King was out he finally had a chance to play forward uninterrupted as the Saints form was improved. I reckon 35-45 this year. He’s shown he can kick a bag
Cooper Sharman fan here, I've always said there was something special about him. He was definitely one of the main players towards the end of the season and must have cemented his place in the side for 2025. Can't wait to see what he's got in his bag of tricks 😀👍
Love the Coop. He's set for big things. If Max King stays fit, he'll kick 60. And Coop can get up to the 40s. I see him as a Jack Gunston type who will do surprising things.
Nice comparison! Consistency of games the key to seeing his best?
Riewoldt same size time to shine l agree great player and good mark. ❤🤍🖤
I was gonna say Sharman could have had at least 5 against Essendon but was unselfish and passed the ball to Steele and others. Shows his maturity as an individual player and team player
If he can stay in the seniors, and play up forward, for the whole season, there is no reason why he cannot kick 50+ goals. I agree with your thoughts that this year he needs to have a breakout year. He has the talent. Go Saints.
Cooper takes a great grab and in my opinion is the best shot in the side. Like Jason Heatly was. Should play every week and 50 goals is not beyond him,he leads to the right spots and all he needs is confidence. Oh and he is deceptively quick. A real darkhorse. Go Coop and go sainters.
Well done it would be nice to see all young do there thing go saints
If he plays 20 games he’ll kick 35-40. Membrey was so underated for so long. If he plays 20 at Pies he’ll kick 50
Last year Against top teams he was crap. Open your eyes his best football has long gone
@@DarylSice eyes are open enough to see what a bad take this is haha. Membrey was important in our back half when we got going. Pay more attention this season, might learn something
@dannyades6768 St Kilda s decision to not renew his contract must mean they are going all out youth which is a gd call
Membrey was offered a 1 year contract. Pies offered him 2.
Love to see him kick 40+
How good would it be if we actually had a proper forward line coach who could teach Max, Cooper and co forward craft it’s been a glaring issue for the last couple szns and I like Bolton but he played in the guts on the ball. If it still hasn’t improved in 2025 we should look at getting someone in don’t be stubborn make it happen.
Exactly 💯 gus Harvey should be mids coach
@@DarylSiceDoesn’t make sense to me I might be wrong but going on the last couple years are we just relying on Max to teach himself or a coach that was a midfielder 🤦♂️
@GusE1389 there is and old saying you can't put brains in a pumpkin. The saints always seem to f. It up
I may be wrong, but I thought Roughhead was looking after Max in the early years. I think Matthew Lloyd offered to come to St Kilda and teach him the trade, but was told no thanks. I agree that if he doesn't perform to expectations this year, then we need to get him some help from someone who knows the Full Forward craft, etc. Go Saints.
I think you'll find that Bolton will be drawing on experienced key forwards from the past to augment coaching the forward line, Nick Riewoldt would be one, even Matthew Lloyd who coached Max King when he was at school!
Hoping Keeler can be that second key tall 🔥
If I was picking a side he would be in my automatic inclusions.
He just seems to have the ability to pop up out of nowhere and take a mark. He is one of our best shots on goal. If he he is too far out or the shot is too difficult he will pass it to a player in a better position.
He is cool under pressure.
I think he is under-rated. He has been under-utilised and I hope he gets a full season this year.
Had injuries and was a casualty of our terrible delivery early last year. Has better balance and forward craft inside 50 than most of our forwards. Played really well once fit and in his proper position. Also did great in the losing final against the Giants.
Cooper sharmen is our forward. Max king is no.2
Have rated Cooper for some time. Funny how he started playing his best footy when the players upfield started outrunning & outlasting the opposition. We started switching the ball with greater speed & accuracy & alas Cooper appeared to love this game style. He will be reliant on the half backs and mid fielders taking up from where they left off last year. If this happens he will be exciting to watch. Personally I think King has to adopt a similar game style, he is beaten too often in one on ones with the oppositions best defender/s - I hope King can also benefit by changing his style to adapt to the game style we ended last year on??????????
Cooper? Max Machito Marshall Henry Caminiti Higgins etc. the focus should NOT be a solo player to be the key forward. Rather develop the entire forward players so that ALL can kick goals. If a sudden injury rules out our two key forwards the STKILDA of decades ago….struggle to score. Team defence has been a strength of saints since RTB has returned. Team forward play needs to improve….PLUS midfield DELIVERY so THAT many FORWARD line players …..THEY can score freely. Go SAINTS 2025….make a strong statement to the competition this year.!
I agree we need to kick more goals .
40 upwards
Cooper- my assessment so far has been very promising, it's not how many, but WHEN he kicks goals and he has capacity to snag clutch goals. I like his air of confidence and self-belief. I'd love a bag from him to stamp his authority, but those clutch goals are worth SO much. 3 weeks in a row won VFL games off his boot. I'd take that as a win any day🤩
Very underrated pair of hands
Don't forget to subscribe Sainters - help us hit 13K before Round 1!
Aiming for 2 goals a game is very realistic
I think he can easily kick 30+. He played 18 games last season but some of them as sub and some down back. If he locks in to the 2nd tall forward spot fulltime he will embrace it and take control of that spot. I think he will have a breakout season..
i rekon his game happend it was v essendon end of last year sharman was everywhere
I think Sharman should go to Full Forward and Put King at Centre Half Forward.
Would love to know his stats against players like: Xavier dursma, Archie Perkins, forgarty, Gunston. Etc.
Both Sharman & Owens need to step up in the forward 50
god i rate cooper sharman
He will get better delivery from an improved group of midfielders - 45+ goals.
reminds me of gunston.
There's no doubting the football ability but the question is can he do what he does under pressure, physically and/or mentally both attacking and defensively. So far the answer is no. So far he has indicated he is a great VFL footballer who only performs at AFL level against ordinary opposition. I didn't like the interviews after his best game last year, too much ego and not enough recognition that one decent game doesn't cut it. No more excuses, there's too many young players coming through to gift games on promise.
Now with Membrey no longer on the team it's Sharman's time. My prediction in 36 goals in 2025
Sharman picked up some consistency in the last 5 - 6 games which showed how valuable he can/will be. Membrey has been a great servant for the Saints, but he's pass his best. How many times does he get his hands clear for a mark & then drop the ball, to many times. He does do well going to the backline, but he's a forward isn't he? Membrey will do well for Collingwood, but they have the team to have a player like Tim & the pies are still in a premiership window, although a cracked one. We have to look to the young players and if hard decisions are made so be it. Whatever we have been doing up to now obviously hasn't worked has it except for 66 🏆 Team 1st & always as any footballer knows 😇
Is goals the only measure? I think he’ll play as a 3rd and kick 35
Defs a lock and im thinking 30+
Gee I thought he kicked more against Essendon but thinking back I’m sure he gave a few away that day .
Yep he was absolutely brilliant that game I think had double figures in score involvements
If he can be a charlie Curnow hr will dominate
Play him half forward
Wouldn’t be surprised if Brisbane throw a big offer at him end of the year.
Sharman 40 king 60 or a failed
