Good to be back with another demo, and this one is truly special, in my opinion. A really magical modulator from SolidGoldFX that does everything from pristine and hi-fi to warbly crackling and lo-fi. Wanna instantly press your tone to vinyl, then the NU-33 is the ticket. I really hope you enjoy the demo. If you do, please consider leaving a like, comment or share the video with your partners in lo-fi tone. Would mean so much to me. Thank you for your kindness and support

Solid Gold FX knocking it out of the park....again! And another great demo with creative applications: showing what it's capable of in true Stefan style.
Great demo and a cool unit! First competitor that I know of to the HEXE Melusine. The chorus/flange sounds pretty lovely on this one. The doubler is really awesome. I'm not fond of the crackle type they've gone with, sounds harsh and more like a geiger counter, and you can't seem to control the level independently.
Cheers! I've been eagerly waiting to get my hands on it since NAMM, and it does not disappoint, that's for sure. Far better than the proto I played at NAMM.
Very cool! Similar to the Chase Bliss warped vinyl or the Shallow Waters but with a few extra tricks up its sleeve. For me, though, nothing beats the Deco for these sounds. Especially if you use the secondary controls on the tapesaturation side to dial out some highs and lows to give it a properly lofi sound. TLDR; randomized LFOs for the win!
Great video Stefan! You really should do an album featuring all these amazing pedals, you have an incredibly melodic playing style - I could listen for hours!
Damn, I was JUST thinking about lo-fi vinyl sounds yesterday! Great video, great tones, and as always, super inspiring music! Made me grab my guitar and jam, which I really needed! Thank you so much my friend :)

Specialy love the crackle toggle (finally someone thought about this essential spicy element of vinyl sound !) and the expression pedal input that I've wish i could have on Hungry Robot's Wardenclyffe. Funny era where high-quality programming chips and circuits are made to produce lo-fi and degraded sounds.

Great as always and good to see how your channel is thriving. Really interesting and tempting pedal, maybe the modulator to rule them all? What a great demo, Stefan! Sounds like you had a lot making it too. That pedal is pretty cool too. A pedalboard with a fuzz, NU-33, and a delay + reverb would be more than enough for most of us.

Beautiful demo and playing. At around 5 minutes I thought I heard a little passing progression that made me think the ghost of Abbey Road era Beatles had entered my place to freak me out! Happy Halloween indeed! Maybe an unusual pitch jump, but Beatle-esque just the same🤣The modulation, tone, and vibe during the lovely, sad extended bit with the vinyl crackling away was particularly beautiful❤️ Oh that arpeggio section near the end just melted my brain...and then I see the Minilogue and now it is that, an iPad ARP, or the Strat to experiment upon. Thank for the inspiration! I will have to do it all without this pedal...for now.🤓
They are fun to mess around with. I've been using them for a long time in my demos. I even have an entire video dedicated to my favorite iOS apps to use with pedals. Have you checked that out?
@@thepedalzone I sure did, so good! If you have an ipad the possibilities are even more incredible with apps such as borderlands granular. I genuinely think the gap between eurorack and ios music making is getting smaller by the year. It’s my main way of making music now!
Love this pedal, great demo too. Any pedals that you'd recommend checking out as alternatives? I'm particularly interested in separate hiss and crackle controls and maybe some saturation rather than lots of modulation? I have the Strymon Deco which I'll be swapping for something which can add noise as well.
Thank you! Happy you enjoyed the demo. I guess the most obvious alternative would be the new CBA Generation Loss MkII. Seems like it has everything you're looking for and more.
@@thepedalzone Thanks for the tip, will check that out! I've seen people getting great results for this kind of stuff from a simple Zoom CDR 70. Have you ever compared this to the boutique pedals you own?

Thank you very much. It is indeed a killer pedal. Don't know if it's brighter than the Somersault. Haven't really compared them yet. But the NU-33 definitely has more tone shaping possibilities due to its 3 different filter modes.
@@thepedalzone Stefan, I don't want to bother you or anything, but do you think it's possible to put the Tuning you are using in the Demo's description from now on?
Cool demo picked it up after watching this been playing it for a month now and love it! Question I opened the back and there are two switches what do they do ?
Honored to hear my demo inspired you to pick up the pedal. I love the NU-33. Has been a mainstay on my board after I finished recording this demo. The switches inside the pedal determine what parameters you can control via expression pedal. You can read all about it in the NU-33 manual
Superbly played and exhibited once again! Stefan, can you give feedback to this question and include thoughts on Jam Pedals Ripply Falls in this category? I’m looking for that lofi vibrato sound.
I haven't tried the Wardenclyffe, so can't say. But feature-wise, and from what I can read and hear online, it seems like they seek to achieve completely different things within the lo-fi realm. Price is set around $250, as far as I remember.
Awesome as always! Have you tried the Wardenclyffe by Hungry Robot? Do you prefer this one over that or other similar modulation pedals? I am trying to decide! Thank you!
Cheers! Haven't tried the Wardenclyffe. NU-33 is the modulation pedal of choice for me right now. It's kicked all the competition off of my board. I love it because it's amazing at both hi-fi and lo-fi tones. That's a rare find. It's typically an either or situation, but this one does it all and it does it well.
They are extremely different. Each has its own vibe it's going for. NU-33 being vinyl-esque whereas Shallow Water is going for that tape-esque tone. But I used to have the Shallow Water on my board, now I have the NU-33. Don't know if that says anything or matters anything. Both are great, but NU-33 is simply more versatile, since it both covers clean hi-fi tones and broken lo-fi tones, and versatility is pivotal for me.
Does it handle line level instruments well, in terms of impedance? Do you usually use this in front of your amp or as a send fx in the mixer when playing synths?
I haven’t had any issues with any of my synths. I use pedals directly after my synth and into my interface. I recommend you ask SolidGoldFX if you want a more technical answer about impedance and stuff. They made it, so they should know 😊
Thanks. Can I ask you (1) what tuning is your fender at? Sounds like an open tuning (2) how would you compare this pedal to a strymon deco and to a red panda tensor? Happy New Year!
huge oversight by not offering this in a stereo form. The synth and dawless jam community would love this thing.
sort of a surface level idea, but records arent stereo, so... sorta defeats the point

@@thepedalzone OMG it all makes sense now! Thank you
@@thepedalzone Stefan, I don't want to bother you or anything, but do you think it's possible to put the Tuning you are using in the Demo's description from now on?
Cool demo picked it up after watching this been playing it for a month now and love it!
Question I opened the back and there are two switches what do they do ?
Honored to hear my demo inspired you to pick up the pedal. I love the NU-33. Has been a mainstay on my board after I finished recording this demo. The switches inside the pedal determine what parameters you can control via expression pedal. You can read all about it in the NU-33 manual
@@thepedalzone That’s right I forgot about the manual I’ll pick that up in a minute thank you..
Hey Stefan, how do you think this compares to the Shallow Water or Warped Vinyl? Any preference between the three?
Superbly played and exhibited once again!
Stefan, can you give feedback to this question and include thoughts on Jam Pedals Ripply Falls in this category? I’m looking for that lofi vibrato sound.
Nu-33 = new m3. I want that one.
Crackle sounds like a Geiger - counter!
Thanks for this! How would you compare this one to something like the Wardenclyffe? And do you know the retail price? Thanks again!! :)
It's Bibio in a box!
Definitely a nice thing to have in a box 😊
Any thoughts on how it compares to Tefi Vintage Labs' Golden Era/Melanconia?
Haven't tried those two, so don't know
I know they’re different but if you had to choose a single vinyl lo-fi pedal, would you choose this or the Fairfield Shallow Water?
They are extremely different. Each has its own vibe it's going for. NU-33 being vinyl-esque whereas Shallow Water is going for that tape-esque tone. But I used to have the Shallow Water on my board, now I have the NU-33. Don't know if that says anything or matters anything. Both are great, but NU-33 is simply more versatile, since it both covers clean hi-fi tones and broken lo-fi tones, and versatility is pivotal for me.
@@thepedalzone Thanks for the in depth response. Amazing video as always! 🤙🏻
Is your squire JMJM one with the rosewood fretboard?
my wallet does not like your channel bro hahahahahhah this is now on the way to my house
and i can not wait! bring your board and come jam!
Tell your wallet that I'm sorry 😂 You're gonna dig this pedal though. It's so rad!
@@thepedalzone already made it in a few artists tracts u produce for haha its great!
damn this is exactly what i wanted... you really gonna make me buy another pedal?
Awesome, man! Go for it!
did u send 1 2 jeff tweedy and nels cline?
Does it handle line level instruments well, in terms of impedance? Do you usually use this in front of your amp or as a send fx in the mixer when playing synths?
I haven’t had any issues with any of my synths. I use pedals directly after my synth and into my interface. I recommend you ask SolidGoldFX if you want a more technical answer about impedance and stuff. They made it, so they should know 😊
Thanks. Can I ask you (1) what tuning is your fender at? Sounds like an open tuning
(2) how would you compare this pedal to a strymon deco and to a red panda tensor? Happy New Year!
