He had a point until he said 'Why the hell did you come 25th?' There's a middle ground between pretending there is no such thing as failure and chastising children for failing. I work with children and I would encourage them to feel good about trying their best, even if they did badly. The lesson I want to teach them is that trying their best is the goal, and winning is nice but you shouldn't beat yourself up if you aren't as good as others. Try your best and you'll likely find things that you do succeed in, whether that's a race, art, socialising, kindness, maths, whatever.

What’s the whole point of competitions even if everyone gets a medal looking the same? There’s no motivation. I remember back in grade school I did……..a bazillion sports…before age 12! Alllllllllllll I cared about what the medal/trophy, when I realized that EVERYONE got a medal and trophy at the end, I didn’t work harder. I knew “if I sign up for soccer, I’m going to get a trophy, no questions asked”…::I did that year after year after year. I didn’t care much of the sport and didn’t give it my best because I knew there was gold on the other side. It’s horrible. The only only time I truly gave it my all was the presidential fitness award! From elementary! Every year we would have to run suicides, mile run, chin hangs, pull ups, endurance tests. And I always always was the fastest girl, 2nd to best runner….freakin JIMMY………..and at the end of the year, during the award show, I was always called up! And I loved it! I was the only person who would get it in my grade for females! I was great and loved it. I’m not competitive with sports but when it comes to 100 people for one shot, boom I go! I’m a winner takes all and one man standing competitive person. I’m not a team member type of winner sort, because of someone fails in my group, then I lose also, I can’t better myself when the team is losing and I can’t make other better themselves for my sake when they don’t see the goal and winning.

    Thai is true
An example of this is I was at a basketball awards night thing and everyone got a medal for the year from the best player to the worst it give kids the impression that they are good enough when they really aren’t
