    I worry about how Soto would affect the chemistry of the team. How would clubhouse leaders like Mookie and Freddie feel about having a $600 million dollar player (for real) in the clubhouse? Plus are we mortgaging the future with a big contract like that.

  • @edomarpez1840

    They could sign him? yes... should they sign him? HELL NO!!! a. The defense is below average, b. the money could be better allocated elsewhere, c. it doesn't add something they can't get with other player(s), d. is doesn't seem to be a fit with the clubhouse

  • @andyr72

    No no no no no. Will ruin team cohesiveness. This is a great squad that all love each other. He'll be another bad energy distraction like Manny (Ramirez or Machado, take your pick). Dodgers already have a really good outfield. Grab Adames and Sasaki and, with your starters back, you'll all but guarantee another championship season. Signing Soto will piss a lot of Dodgers fans off, Mr. Friedman. Remember that.

  • @ryanc9876
    @ryanc9876 15 дней назад

    The main reason why I think he fits best with the Mets is they actually need a DH. The Dodgers and the Yankees both have DHs. Granted, you CAN put him it the outfield, but having Soto being a DH would be the best place for the team he is on. And Shohei is a long term DH so... yeah. No fit on the Dodgers unless you force it. And I'm not one who thinks he'd be a problem in the clubhouse. I think the issues in San Diego were more on the other guys there.

    NO WAY!! His character makes him unfit to the Dpdgers teamwork and disciplined workethics. From the last year's free agent market, he was seeking only money, while his value is far less than Ohtani's. He can't play good defense. His arrogance never suitable for the Dodgers

  • @kcl7676

    DODGERS DO NOT WANT SOTO!!! Get it through your skulls. With Soto money we get Sasaki and keep him, Fried and keep him, Adamas and keep him, Teoscar and keep him, Buehler and keep him. Need I say more? Go ahead and run the Soto sweepstakes up passed 700M and then hang that albatross on Mets or Yankees or Padres or Giants neck. Just do not go after that guy. He's a HALF ASSED fielder at best. Hit bat is NOT worth that much.

      Speak for yourself! Adames is a clear red flag due to his offensive inconsistencies over the years. Paying any pitcher is risky because that is the most fragile position in baseball. With Juan Soto you are as close to a guarantee to get the production you paid for. He is the safest bet out of all the players in this free agency. 26 years old, best pure hitter in baseball, World Series champ, he stays healthy and plays 160 games every season. Bring Soto to LA

    • @hepatitiscyalater7269
      @hepatitiscyalater7269 16 дней назад +1

      @@theStacyJameshe’s 26 years old which means if you are handing him a 12 year deal he will be 38 years old. That isn’t that bad of an age range to end a contract. A majority of that contract he will be great and as he gets older transitions to first base which should prevent injuries. David Ortiz was still raking at 40 years old. Playing devils advocate maybe if you are right about Soto being an albatross in the future well if the dodgers stack on 3 more World Series titles with him during that contract when he is good then it doesn’t matter.

  • @patrickhogue8790
    @patrickhogue8790 16 дней назад +1

    Is he better than Judge who signed for 9/360 or Trout 12/420 (back when Trout was good)? Seems like a long term deal of 350-400 is the best Soto should do. He's all about money - I'd rather have guys like Shohei, Mookie or Freddie who put winning over money. I don't think his contract , whatever it is, will age well.

      not only that but honestly that guy's lowkey a defensive liability, I've seen people that watched the regular season yankee games say how many runs they've seen him concede/ at least have some part in that through sloppy defenses. He can't exactly run either, he's bat only, and although it's elite, he's gotta be a dh man. And that ain't happening on the dodgers LOL

    Soto's slash .285/.421/ .532 with 29-30 HR's a season, that's very good, not Barry Bonds good. Elite bat for below avg defense. No thank you. Soto made some bad reads in the 24' world series. The numbers are gonna look like Pujols contract, ask any Angels fan. Let that albatross contract hang on to the Mets (Cohen), good for the first 5-6 years and than not age well into the last portion.

    It’s a no brainer. You get the best talent, and we have a need for long term outfielders. Teoscar is 32 years old. He would not be a future cornerstone like a Soto would be. Not that I don’t want Teo back I do but anybody who prefers Teo over Soto is just doing mental gymnastics. “But the money is too much and he is a cancer”. Money means nothing to the dodgers. Soto has never been accused of being a cancer by teammates.

    • @Dacaolition
      @Dacaolition 16 дней назад

      Thing is though, Soto as RF is a poor defensive choice, he's realistically a 1st baseman or a DH, Freeman isn't moving off for a number of years, and the Dodgers are the team least in need of a DH for the next decade

    • @hepatitiscyalater7269
      @hepatitiscyalater7269 16 дней назад

      @@Dacaolition Teoscar was worse than Soto defensively. We have 3 more years of Freeman. There definitely is going to be an opening at the 1B position. By that time Soto is 29 years old. He isn’t as horrible as people think he is defensively. The Dodgers are one of the best teams at defensive positioning. They helped Teoscar a worse defender than Soto. You don’t think they can help Soto a guy who is slightly below average on defense? What you can’t help/teach to a certain extent is that prolific offensive profile that Soto has. Defense can always be helped even if it’s minimal by defensive positioning.

    • @Dacaolition
      @Dacaolition 16 дней назад

      @@hepatitiscyalater7269 Sotos numbers defensively are, bemusingly, helped by the Yankees Right Field. His numbers out of it are far worse otherwise.
      The biggest thing though, Teo will not command a contract as large as Soto will, which allows for much more flexibility with the roster, something which has Friedman has leveraged incredibly well since coming to the franchise.
      If Soto were to go for a contract pricepoint more like Trout or Harper, around 400mil, I can definitely see the argument for acquiring Soto, as his batting profile will age very well into his late 30's, but at +600mil(?) That price point is just too unreasonable if you don't plan to build a team around him. Compared to Teo who will ask for probably 140/3years, or honestly, a fair few outfielders who will go onto the market over the next few years, it almost makes it a non-starter that Soto is quite unlikely to go to the Dodgers.

      Lets put it this way. Soto is the gold digging girl. Now, do you want the girl that's only with you bc of the money or that girl that wants to be with you bc she loves you? In this case Teo.
      In getting Soto fans know Teo is gone and they dont like that.
      Too me, its too much money for 1 guy and Teo is not too far away in stats compared to Soto

    • @leodee3
      @leodee3 16 дней назад

      @tocadadj2951 Look, I love Teo, but he didn't come to the Dodgers because he loves the Dodgers -- he came because it was his best chance to win. And maybe you respect that more than coming for the money, but he also made himself more money by doing so. It's not that different. But I disagree that they're not that different statistically. They are. The gap is pretty big. And Soto is six years younger. Teo will start to decline while Soto is still getting better. I want Teo back too. Get them both.

    • @tocadadj2951
      @tocadadj2951 16 дней назад

      @leodee3 Maybe your right about both being about the money but Teo has played this beautifully. In interviews he always says how he wants to keep playing for the Dodgers. He was almost crying at the stadium celebration of how bad he wanted to stay. Compared that to Soto who only talks about going to the highest bidder. Where do you think Dodgers fans are going to be pulling towards?
      And Teo is only a 3/4 year commitment.
      33 homeruns to Sotos 41. 270 batting avg to sotos .288. And for wayyyy less money

    • @leodee3
      @leodee3 16 дней назад

      @tocadadj2951 There's a lot more to offense than batting average and homeruns. That doesn't scratch the surface of the whole story. Soto is a much better player and it wouldn't be crazy if he got even better, considering he's only 26. We've very likely seen the best of Teo. But I agree that he's great for the clubhouse and I would love to have him back.

    • @tocadadj2951
      @tocadadj2951 16 дней назад

      @leodee3 Rather than spending 700 million on one player I would rather shore up our weaknesses. Need elite starting pitching. A true ace. It was almost suicidal doing the "bullpen" days. You ended up taxing hard your relievers by the end of the playoffs.
      Get a decent long relief arm. Didnt like the fact that we had to punt games.
      Get a speedy shortstop. We need speed. Someone like Ely De La Cruz. It looks like Roberts is starting to move towards small ball. Get a guy that can get on base and steal 2nd and 3rd base for easy runs that dont need hits. A pop up to the outfield scores him.
      Dodgers would be unbeatable if they took care of their weaknesses instead of Soto
