hey Ollie I live on the tip of the Coromandel and know some really good spear fishing spots, I've just started spearfishing and RUclips, and want to learn the ins and outs of spearfishing so if you wanted to come for a dive in the Coromandel reply to this comment, that would be really cool experience to go out spearfishing with a expert.
Must admit, have come across and been watching your videos over the last month. Finding them better than anything on TV, streaming or otherwise. Your production is first class, as is your style. Totally respect all the work that goes into them and am amazed how you put it together so seamlessly. Am getting back into my hunting shooting and fishing after a 20 year break and it'll be back to school for me I'm sure, but going to get a set up pretty much the same as yourself. Used to be in the Mt Maunganui Surf club so love those IRBs. Been on a huge life journey reaching out further than I could have imagined but for now need to heal the mind, body and spirit, and what better way. Cheers again and am sure you'll get to wherever you're going in your dreams and aspirations.
Thanks for bringing me all the way from germany to nz to go spearfishing So much fun man No real luck yet but i carry on the learning curve is very steep what makes it such an awesome sport
This video could be just another (beautiful) spearfishing video, but your comments made it unique. All the information about what your doing, the gear that you're using, thoughts... that was really nice!
Another banger vid bro . Such a beautiful location that was. Full of crays and some awesome fish caught. Loved the cook up too 👌. Think that's my goal this summer learn to freedive cheers to your inspiration
Well done Ollie beautiful under water footage and your smile said it all the cookup looked great and I could almost taste it from here . The fish monger is just about right for sure .
Ollie, that might be a conger eel, small one from the looks of it. I might be mistaken but we got those in the Med, seems just like one observing it from above, I'm no fish expert though. Cheers legend, an awesome video! 🤙🏼
sitting here watching this show for the 4 th time as im fixing up spear guns for SAMOA give away my gear trip your show is grouse just to listen to as you work when you think it time to shoot a fish i stop to watch as i just love where you shoot fish keep them coming mate ill keep watching GRUMPY
Bro what great content. We’re all learning something off you bro. But your videos are so good to watch. Great trip great dive. Also as always great cook up.
Bro wouldn't mind a day out with you diving in your home ground it's much safer and the selection is always good Brisbane is fished out and sharks are not friendly lol stay safe and keep providing those awesome videos👏
I watch your videos along with a local American and I am transfixed by them. I have always loved the ocean but for the last ten years just haven't got back in the water. The one curiosity I have is you dive around New Zealand. And we the only reference for New Zealand we have is of course Shark Week watching the world's biggest white sharks swimming around. Have you ever seen one and how bad are they really?
The Shark week filmed in NZ used to often focus around the huge whites which are at the very bottom of our country near Stewart Island. There are the odd one that cruise around the country but are very rarely seen by divers. I have never seen one myself
Mate, you should design a float boat to compete with the Wettie ones. Not enough of these hard ones on the market. Because of sharks I’d be hesitant to spearfish without mine. Big Great Whites over here.
Every diver has a healthy fear of sharks. Yr definitely not the only one. Start close inshore and slowly move out . Always try going with a bro. You'll be right 🤙
I was just like you 6months ago scared of the unknowns but started diving with a mate he managed to talk me into it he's got about 4years experience , got a 5mm suit started following him around, and now I hooked . That sharky fear goes away once your in the water bro because your having so much fun. Don't hesitate anymore just get into it. Try find a dive budy

You don't need the big flash boat to get a feed of fresh seafood. Just get into it. Indeed you do show us the ways bro. 🍻
Awesome video. Epic Dive !!

Pro tip. Lightly score the JDs skin, dry and give a generous salt. Skin will be crisper and fillet not roll up as much in the pan when cooking.
Thanks!
cheers legend!!
Awesome vid bro, where abouts along the east coast were you diving?
Great video again bro
never thought I'd witness someone kidnapping a crayfish but I'm here for it

Do you Blanche your Paua in the shell or out?
I used to blanch in shell for one minute but don’t bother anymore just slide thinly and don’t cook for very long
