    My 7 year old son has congenital cataracts! A few people in my family were born with them. My aunt is 70 and had complete cataracts in both eyes. She had her first removed at 30yo & second at 40 y. Her son was also born with cataracts…diagnosed at age 3. They both had their eyes fixed as adults. They both were able to get their licenses and they both have lived normal lives. I’m hoping my sons cataract stays the same size, and we can have his removed in his 20s, rather than doing it as a young child. .

    Hi. I was born with bilateral
    Congenital cataracts, and sadly passed on the condition to 2 of my children. I'm actually in the process of making a video on my channel of our story, but as it's 3 of us to cover, it's proving quite a feat. Lol it was super interesting to listen to your story. 💜

      @@HomeschoolandGrace Hi, many thanks. We are being referred to a specialist so we will shortly know if it is imperative. The day I watched yourVideo, was the day I first got to know about this condition. Both me and my wife were in shock that day, but hearing you out and seeing Hannah was calming.

    Have you heard of panoptix lens implant? I know this video is old, but have they said whether she is a candidate or does she have to wait until 18?

    • @HomeschoolandGrace
      @HomeschoolandGrace  Год назад

      No, I have not heard of that type of implant. We have talked about a lens implant, but at this point she does not qualify because she tolerates the contacts well.

    • @CibusMission
      @CibusMission Год назад

      @@HomeschoolandGrace I happy to hear that, it is something about correcting the lens itself. She is still so young, but I am so happy that she is doing well with the contacts!

    Im 21yr old with Unilateral Congenital Cataract. My life was really miserable until i started accepting it. I really want to get rid of this soon. Could you tell any adult who faces this same issue?

    • @HomeschoolandGrace
      @HomeschoolandGrace  3 года назад +1

      I think accepting it is the first step, and then rejoice in it, this is your toil. Its going to be hard, but what can you find to be thankful for through this trial. God is good, and he will help you through. Praying you have peace as you work your way through this.

      I’m 27 and I still have my cataract in my left eye. We didn’t know that I had it till I was 9, I guess my dumbass thought it was normal and just never brought it up. I don’t have a lazy eye or anything but it is very sensitive to the sun, which sucks coz australia is freaking sunny esp where I live. It’s not visibly cloudy so atm there’s no reason for me to remove it. Hopefully that helps. ❤

    My child is three months old and had cataract surgery in both eyes. We started glasses yesterday. While he is laying down the glasses ride up his nose. Any suggestions to keep it intact while he is laying down?

    • @HomeschoolandGrace
      @HomeschoolandGrace  Год назад

      It’s always hard to keep the glasses on when they are so little especially when they are laying down, because they can’t hold their head up. I would do my best to keep them in place and know as they grow older and can sit up the glasses will stay on easier.

    My son was born with congenital cataract in his left eye,
    Thank you so much for making this video, because in 2016 when we found out about his congenital cataract i was clueless and I couldn’t find a single video of personal experience,
    He had two surgeries , he is 5 now
    Still patching (not regularly)
    I just want to know what will be his future like? If his eye will become weaker or he will be completely fine?
    Please if anybody have any idea , help me out here!?

      Thank you for sharing about your sons cataract with me. I don't know what his future will hold for his eye. My daughter is now 7 and her eye has grown a bit stronger, but in the last year or so the prescription has not changed. She does still patch 2 hours a day and the doctor is happy with the consistency of her prescription. We know it will not have perfect vision, but we know what she can see out of it is a blessing.

      My daughter had her surgery just before turning 2. She had a catarct in her right eye. Initially, she patched for 6 hours now it has been reduced to 2 hours. Her eyesight has improved a lot since. We started at 18/6 post her surgery, and now it's 8/6 with spectacles. It might not get to 6/6 perfect vision, but it's quite close to normal.
      Best of luck with your son. I'm sure with proper patching up and follow-ups, he should recover.
