The only problem with Crash Bandicoot 1 is that the jump mechanic has a little imput and momentum, making really easy to jump past through the intended place where you wanted to land.
A little late but I think that’s one of the charms of the Crash series, that gives a bit of a difficulty and learning curve and sets it apart from other platformers
This is a great example of why I love the original crash bandicoot game - this level design is incredibly simple yet challenging and fun at the same time. Good work on these videos by the way, I've watched most of them :D
few articles on redit showing you can but the mechanic is different to the original. you just need momentum so no safty stops and need to let go of x sooner.
I replayed this after N.Sane. What took me over 100 tries to ace in the modern game took me only 2 tries in the original. A testament to the better physics.
I fucking love this level as difficult of a challenge it possesses the atmosphere and music just fit it so perfectly its just so awesome nice job on passing it to it usually takes me a few tries to nail every jump perfectly
It's because an adventurous player examines the ENTIRE playing field when playing a platformer(and probably 'cuz he got frustrated when he didn't get the Gem for that level so he looked around HARD, LOL!). The wumpa fruit was supposed to be the "Give-away" to the boxes being there, and maybe the tightrope leading backwards as well. :P
NEVER thought I would be better at ANYTHING than you Garland, but this is the one level I am. This was my favorite level in all of Crash Bandicoot 1 (other than the Pinstripe boss battle) simply because I just thought it was way too easy.
I hated the hogs so much here, one actually turned around and killed me from behind! Also, I kept dying at those turtle jumps at the end. Btw, for a long time I didn't know that there were boxes BEHIND the start!
@TheAdam159 True, but then again, that's what made this game special to me, it was insanely hard, but I would spend hours as a kid playing it and once you mastered it, you was the boss.
My parents did most of the game up till this point and I wanted to play… so they said: “we’re stuck on this level! Maybe you can help us beat it” They lied to me
Damn so that's where that one box is. I completed this level on perfect but said I missed one box =[ so I watched this to see where exactly I missed it and it's the box right above the metal one that you have to jump on top to get. Dammit now I have to redo the stage.
For example on the Level: Sunset vista all the places where the bats fly in a stream, you can actully doing it the right way Spin right through them all, witch means you can with my method tottaly ignore them, and proceed faster.
I remember when Markiplier played the N-Sane trilogy and absolutely raged at these levels, only to find out about the rope exploit after beating them. Keep in mind, the N-Sane trilogy removed the no death requirement for levels that don't have colored gems, so he was playing the easier version. He probably would've quit outright if he tried to play this version to 100%.
In all my years playing this game, I have never gotten past this level. But now that I know what to look out for, I guess I can start up the PS again and try to beat it this time.
@eljaco88 High Road was frustrating, but it didn't take me like several days to finish it, unlike Slippery friggin Climb, ugh. That level made me want to pull my hair out! The third island in general was just insane
Crash was one of my first games. I have great nostalgia for the first 4 PS1 games by Naughty Dog. Crash Bandicoot Warped is my favorite. They all have creative level design and great music.
While i didn't have this game as a kid (i had 2 and 3 instead) i recently got around to attempting a completionist run of it. This level right here was absolute agony to get the gem on; It took me something like 30 or so attempts, during which i got increasingly frustrated and nearly just gave up on the run, no thanks to mistiming several jumps and just falling into the rocks. Also, is it just me, or are the bridge levels kind of... unsettling?
Oh, and I figured that trick out on my own. Although going the usual way might've been less frustrating to attempt... Yeah... This level was annoying as hell for me too.
The worst stage that i have ever been on, (i even completed slippery climb.. find this wayyy harder) but strangely i have never been killed by the running hog... its the turtles and the jumps that always get me. very very nice dude, you make it look easy. Just one question, do you use the D pad or the Analog stick?
I did. I beat it the first time when I was about eight. After dying about twenty times, and losing every life, but, I think, two, I finally beat the level.
Not going to lie, I cheated and jumped on top of the rope and hopped to the end of the level. I hated this level so much. Slippery climb had nothing on how hard I thought this level was.
personally I find the road of nowhere harder, because in the road of nowhere close to the end you need to cross 4 bridge sessions without any checkpoint between then
I remember breaking my PS1 controller when the stupid hover boar killed me as i was rushing and it came out of the fog, i was not expecting a hover boar, i did see the gaps in the bridge.
@C0r3f1ght3rZ some advise 4 pinstripe : when he starts shooting like mad just hide behind one of the chairs, i never knew this when i was younger so i used to get 2 aku aku's and just run arround like crazy XD
Garland, do you think Slippery is the hardest? I think Flumbing in the Dark is the worst. Slippery is more timing work, fumbling is on "3D" run so you cant get it all solved but by memorizing the parts... But high road is in my top 5... actually is the 2nd worst for me...
In the bonus on this level, there's a fucking jumpbox in the air that is impossible to break without dying, so it's impossisble to get the gem. (maybe i'm playing an older version and they have corrected it on newer ones)
I forgot how i even figured this out (i gess it was the radom wumpa fruit) but seeing as how i havent played this this game in years I forget LOVE FOR CRASH BANDICOOT!!!
i remember this and road to nowhere every time i got hit, it glitched and i was stuck on crash spinning non-stop....nrgh....curse this level! nice run tho!
I found a glitch/exploit that makes the bridge levels a lot easier if you can master it. It's actually possible to jump onto the ropes on the sides of the bridge and run across them. You need to jump over the little ropes that trail over, though, or you'll slip off.
The original Atmosphere and song in this Level give more mysterious and creepy than the "Remaster one" especially the Fog surround ,unfalling Boar and Turtle in the thin bridge.. do you Agree?
The only problem with Crash Bandicoot 1 is that the jump mechanic has a little imput and momentum, making really easy to jump past through the intended place where you wanted to land.
I think it’s cuz of the camera angle
A little late but I think that’s one of the charms of the Crash series, that gives a bit of a difficulty and learning curve and sets it apart from other platformers
And i thought road to nowhere was hard....
+FroakieTrainer54 Personally I think Road to Nowhere is more hard than The High Road
then you should try the bonus round, can't get that last box.
Fuck this level.
This level is made even worse in N'sane trilogy
this level is one of the HARDEST in the video game history
Jorgeroots try playing it in N. Sane Trilogy
Sydronox you can
Sydronox you can though, that's how I beat it
Sakurar0cks same makes the level easy imo if you use the ropes, beat crash 1 in under 24 hours
For me Slippery Climb is hardest in original, and The High Road or Sunset Vista was hardest in Trilogy (excluding DLC)
This is a great example of why I love the original crash bandicoot game - this level design is incredibly simple yet challenging and fun at the same time. Good work on these videos by the way, I've watched most of them :D
This level is alot harder on N Sane Trilogy. Cant jump as high on the turles like in the original
Thomas Santos dude I just got done with it. Took an hour and a half to beat even with the ropes.. lol
Anthony D'Eliseo ya i tried the rope strategy too lol, it worked but i ended up getting blue relic though lol
Damn true
few articles on redit showing you can but the mechanic is different to the original. you just need momentum so no safty stops and need to let go of x sooner.
I finally got Platinum Relic on this level, my strategy was to jump on the ropes, only on the parts that i thought were hard.
I replayed this after N.Sane. What took me over 100 tries to ace in the modern game took me only 2 tries in the original. A testament to the better physics.
Which is even funnier cause the original game didn't have a good movement, but at least the level design was made with that kind of movement in mind
i love how the hogs can run on air...lol naughty dog must've been trippin on e when they designed these levels
Really this level is a son of a bitch
Its over Anakin I have the High Road.
I can see why people say the older game is easier.
civoreb Yes but N.Sane version is only hard for the wrong reasons, the broken mechanics
cillit bang I know its like that, but i already forgot they took it off from the remake :O
@cillit bang yup that's exactly right. I feel like most of these people never even played the original.
The original is harder n sane trilogy is easier i find slippery climb easier in n sane trilogy I find it annoying in the original to get the red gem
@@dimensionalnemesis8636 I think the mechanics are ten times better.
If I can complete the game 100%, I'm certainly not low skilled.
And I do know that you can walk on the rails. That doesn't mean I want to do it.
Might be noob but lost +50 lifes on this one on n sane trilogy ahah
lol, im with u there too. i can't even get half way :/
I am with you two hahah i dont know how to finish this Shit Level
I managed to do it step by step. The turtles are the tricky part, jump on the far edge for a long jump
António A I had 50 lives and then I lost all of them, i got the gem for this level and then never did it again
I finish That now, its very easy when you just walk on the ropes 😂
1:07 - I swear to God, that that hog looks like Crash!
The only thing i like both: The high road & road to nowhere, are the scenery & the background music.
The background music is amazing.
1:20 I miss that sound in the N Sane Trilogy
1:42 as well
My favourite game of all time along with Crash Bandicoot 2 and 3 and Spyro 1, 2 and 3
NEVER thought I would be better at ANYTHING than you Garland, but this is the one level I am.
This was my favorite level in all of Crash Bandicoot 1 (other than the Pinstripe boss battle) simply because I just thought it was way too easy.

Been play the remake recently. It's fantastic but watching this makes me realise they got a few of the ques wrong with regards to the sound design.
@TheAdam159 True, but then again, that's what made this game special to me, it was insanely hard, but I would spend hours as a kid playing it and once you mastered it, you was the boss.
My parents did most of the game up till this point and I wanted to play… so they said: “we’re stuck on this level! Maybe you can help us beat it”
They lied to me
Awesome job!
I don't remember this level, so I guess I've never made it this far in the game.
the tortoise at 0.54 was already on its back. fantastic
Damn so that's where that one box is. I completed this level on perfect but said I missed one box =[ so I watched this to see where exactly I missed it and it's the box right above the metal one that you have to jump on top to get. Dammit now I have to redo the stage.
Man my palms are sweating just watching this.
Oh Crash Bandicoot, you was the reason I have over 12 controller, all of whom are broken, I love this game
I did this level in about 10 max try's... it's funny the way different people find different difficulty in different levels
For example on the Level: Sunset vista
all the places where the bats fly in a stream, you can actully doing it the right way Spin right through them all, witch means you can with my method tottaly ignore them, and proceed faster.
I remember when Markiplier played the N-Sane trilogy and absolutely raged at these levels, only to find out about the rope exploit after beating them. He probably would've quit outright if he tried to play this version to 100%.
You have got to be fucking shittin me right now ....
Crash 1 = ptsd
Like I said, this level takes the cake for causing so many game overs
I think we can all agree on one thing: FUCK THE HIGH ROAD!!!!!
this is an excellent run on 1 of the hardest stages in crash bandicoot
In all my years playing this game, I have never gotten past this level. But now that I know what to look out for, I guess I can start up the PS again and try to beat it this time.
@GingerNuts14 but the great things to observe in this level are boars running over semi-destroyed bridges or over holes between too.
@eljaco88 High Road was frustrating, but it didn't take me like several days to finish it, unlike Slippery friggin Climb, ugh. That level made me want to pull my hair out! The third island in general was just insane
i like this level, it gives that good ol old mario sky level sensation :)
Crash was one of my first games. I have great nostalgia for the first 4 PS1 games by Naughty Dog. Crash Bandicoot Warped is my favorite. They all have creative level design and great music.
Hands down epic, i never saw anyone pull this off ;)
Like you diddint even break a sweat XD
You make this shit look like a piece of cake 😂😮 this was VERY nerve wrecking as a child
Damn this level is much easier with the old mechanics there is no way you can jump that high in n sane trilogy
My favourite level in Crash Bandicoot is Road to nowhere, but this is totally hardcore XD
Also, is it just me, or are the bridge levels kind of... unsettling?
they kinda are... you are in the middle of nowhere
Garrulous Coroner this level made me scared of wood bridges when I was growing up 😂
They have a relaxing background and music but the actual gameplay is hell
love this game. my favourite game of all time i have to say. Bought it off the net yesterday can't wait for it to arrive.
Now that im downloading the game for PS3 at this very moment...I was just trying to remember if I ever got past this level....now I'm worried XD
You can play all PS1 games on a PS2.
Oh, and I figured that trick out on my own. Although going the usual way might've been less frustrating to attempt... Yeah... This level was annoying as hell for me too.
I often used the "Tightrope" trick here to pass the annoying obstacles... LOL
i could definitely do this level, i hated it though. i think i gained a fear of heights after those two levels...
Hardest crash level, hands down
lol i always thought this was fun but what i found out is that u could actually run across the ropes on the side after many jumping attempts
Not going to lie, I cheated and jumped on top of the rope and hopped to the end of the level.
I hated this level so much. Slippery climb had nothing on how hard I thought this level was.
Yay!
This level and the next are THE hardest levels =(
I feel your pain too =(
Awesome!
i think this is the level that killed me. i just can't get through it. can't do the rope trick, cant deal with the turtles can't do jack.
I might do Crash 2 and 3. Seems like you guys enjoy these videos, so why not? 2 will be interesting, as I've never beaten it 100% before.
for some reason i found this level easier than road to nowhere
Sometimes the whiteness of the enviroment didn´t let me see the icy planks and I always died by falling....Oh the memories :3
personally I find the road of nowhere harder, because in the road of nowhere close to the end you need to cross 4 bridge sessions without any checkpoint between then
The most diffucult level in the game, in my opinion, is Slippery Climb. The second, Sunset Vista. But the third, is this one.
ah man i remember when i was little playing this lvl and i cried everytime i die and lose all my life
That's what big brothers were for. :D
I remember breaking my PS1 controller when the stupid hover boar killed me as i was rushing and it came out of the fog, i was not expecting a hover boar, i did see the gaps in the bridge.
i got scared at 1:46 and i guess the levels after this level it gets a little dark and creepy.
this level always reminds me of the samurai jack episode.
Naughty Dog should send out a crash game consisting of nothing but hard levels. no more wasted memory!
i still play this level to challenge my self :D as i kid i got mad cause the hogs run on air lol
The hardest level ever!!!
Battletoads' Tunnel Level would like to have a word with you
yeah really cool. i think The Lab is the hardest to get the gem on. (working on it)
@C0r3f1ght3rZ some advise 4 pinstripe : when he starts shooting like mad just hide behind one of the chairs, i never knew this when i was younger so i used to get 2 aku aku's and just run arround like crazy XD
Garland, do you think Slippery is the hardest? I think Flumbing in the Dark is the worst. Slippery is more timing work, fumbling is on "3D" run so you cant get it all solved but by memorizing the parts...

In the bonus on this level, there's a fucking jumpbox in the air that is impossible to break without dying, so it's impossisble to get the gem. (maybe i'm playing an older version and they have corrected it on newer ones)
That last sentence cracked me up :D
And yes i got stuck on this level when i was younger. gotta revenge tomorrow now im like 8 yrs older
I forgot how i even figured this out (i gess it was the radom wumpa fruit) but seeing as how i havent played this this game in years I forget
LOVE FOR CRASH BANDICOOT!!!
oh man..you make this look so easy :p
This level is more difficult than road to nowhere bro
0:08
i never knew that for the first time,my friend discovered that secret way
oh my god, I remember this! this and the other bridge one were crazy!
@mariguanetor You have to get all the crates in The Lost City for the green gem. You need to get all the crates in Slippery Climb for the red one.
I think naughty dog is gonna sue vicarious visions for this.
100% of comments saying how hard this level is in many facts. I think this level is more easier than Road to Nowhere...
one of my favourite levels!! i prefer this level heaps more than the other ice level. i actually fins this one heaps easier!
i must be a badass or something, i had NO trouble with this level. so far for me, sunset vista was the hardest to get through
OMFG I had a heart attack at 1:54 I thought you'd fall >.>
Great!
BUT YOU FORGOT 4 BOXES!
i remember this and road to nowhere every time i got hit, it glitched and i was stuck on crash spinning non-stop....nrgh....curse this level!
nice run tho!
Those freaking hogs always get me.
I found a glitch/exploit that makes the bridge levels a lot easier if you can master it. It's actually possible to jump onto the ropes on the sides of the bridge and run across them. You need to jump over the little ropes that trail over, though, or you'll slip off.
1:35 You have nine lives, just like a cat!
The original Atmosphere and song in this Level give more mysterious and creepy than the "Remaster one" especially the Fog surround ,unfalling Boar and Turtle in the thin bridge.. do you Agree?
yeah, tried also ca. 50 times. I've forgotten the box over the explosive box 2 times, damn xD so i missed 1 box 2 times :D
This level (in NSaneT) is responsible for thousands of broken PS4/5 controllers.
@Wurfenkopf that's not problem and the issue here the problem is that level is hard to beat
Hate those pigs. You CANNOT kill them in ANY way! Just have to be patient with this level!
