    I have a 1990 945 with B230FT engine. Stock boost was 4-5psi, went up to 9 and made a huge difference. Running 12 is sort of the max you should go because you'll put a lot more pressure on all the engine components and kill the car in the long run if you do 14. My car started using a lot more oil after raising the boost and the coolent levels are always dropping. But on the plus side it made the car go from 8.5-9sec to 60mph to 7sec flat which is great :)

    In sweden we take old Saab turbo red turbo injectors and take away the resistens for the injectors to get more fuel to keep up with the higher boost. Chep mod👍🏻💸

    • @jarnetracing
      @jarnetracing 7 лет назад

      The ones from the T5 engine from saab is about 15-20cc more which isn't much of an upgrade to be honest.

    When did you increase the boost, did you also increase the fuel?

  • @JP-tk6my
    @JP-tk6my 3 года назад +1

    So, I’ve got a 2.0t 940 and she goes well, I seen this bought a boost controller started at 0 and worked my way up to about 6 clicks, I don’t have a boost gauge but in guessing the fuel cut out hits at 14psi? Anyway it’s fast as shit of shovel and my radiator exploded, it expanded out and looks to be cut on the lower support bar, so I beat it back into shape and patched the hole and hold water a treat but wondering why it built up so much pressure? Kinda thinking might be the pressure cap stuck but also my cooling fan doesn’t come on but doesn’t display as over heating, any ideas? Thanks
    Robbo

      Also the turbo gauge on the dash doesn’t go off the chart or anything stays within its working limit

    Do you know much about the newer volvos? I have the 04 S40, and I've heard that you can't sneak in a few extra psi on them, because they don't respond well without a tune. Do you know if this has any truth behind it? I know a lot of cars can benefit from the extra, without a tune. I don't know why my model specifically wouldn't.

    • @hesayad1055
      @hesayad1055 7 лет назад +2

      european countries label octane differently than us. our highest octane is tecnically e85 which i believe in our system is about 100-110 rating.

      Yes Peter, but it's still boost! Only a new chip for more gasoline, running on high octane only. Still going strong, but its snow in Norway so i rarely hit 22 psi because #nogrip

      Snow gone now so here comes the final verdict; blew the head gasket which further led to broken water pump and radiator. fun while it lasted, had wheelspin on both tires in 3rd gear on dry tarmac! took a few nights to fix it but still a cheap fix :D

    what is it with North America and your low octane gas, considering you like the climate where you're at or not move to northern Sweden.
    1st we have 98octane and 95octane on pump can't get anything less, 2nd and most importantly very cheap old volvos and parts :D

    • @driftsnlifts
      @driftsnlifts  7 лет назад +1

      Wictor I've never had a problem using manual boost controllers , alot easier to adjust boost compared to an adjustable waste gate

    • @jarnetracing
      @jarnetracing 7 лет назад

      You'll get more stable boost. I've used plenty of boost controllers myself back in the days but i'd take an adjustable anyday a week. But if you feel like changing all the time from day to day i'd get a boost controller. It's a cheap mod ofc.

    • @driftsnlifts
      @driftsnlifts  7 лет назад +3
