Watch the Hades X Doom production video: • What if the Hades OST ...
This video is primarily for music producers and for people interested in the process of making music. So I get kind of technical. However, there are a bunch of sweet, sweet audio demos. With 100% more chainsaw guitars!
Have ideas of tracks you'd like me to remix or cover? Let me know!

Guess what? I co-created an actual "Doom Compressor" style VST 😎 If you are a producer, you're gonna love it 💻👀👉 nimble.itch.io/argent
hey question, 1. did you mean to put a $40 price tag on the latest version of this software you made?
too bad its 40$
Any chance for an AAX version? I'd drop 40$ in a heartbeat for that.
bad, but not free
The longer he is on earth, the heavier his guitar brcomes
So the next Doom game will be entirely composed of brown notes? XD
Tune in next week as we use nuclear chimneys as acoustic enhancement devices with the power of concentrated radioactive radium to fuel the amps and guitars..
@@nightlust dude actually not that bad idea, chimneys have a nice noise texture to them barely hearable but nuclear chimneys....
@@hiiambarney4489 the sheer size of these could give some great results
Yeah, we need to normalize this style of music and call it Mickcore or Doomcore.
Pretty sure It’s called industrial glitch metal, someone correct me if I’m wrong
@@jackgardner8726 That's what Mick called it one time when he was said what he'd call if he was forced to. If you actually look up tracks with those terms then what plays sounds nothing like the Doom OSTs, so I honestly think Doomcore would be better (also sounds way sicker).
I prefer Slayerpop
@@GeoffPlaysGuitar Praetor class Titan: SlayerCore ready!
Stop putting core at the end of everything geez
THAT DEMO SONG WTF
Just blink. You could have sworn this is part of the DOOM OST.
Agreed, this is true to the style
Awesome video
It’s the style of Spiffing Brit
Definitely not where I thought I'd see you pop up haha
Hey thanks! You have some pretty sweet vids too!
Quick correction in this video: when I said "upwards expansion" I should have said "upwards compression" since the first term means turning up your loudest sounds even louder. The more you know!
Use the wayback indexing machine
I love this type of over-compressed metal. I wish more modern bands experimented like the madman himself, Mick Gordon.
comrpessed you mean
experimentation is expensive and risky, publisher/rights holder no like expensive risky project. make Master of Puppets rehash again and get guaranteed money
@@Slateproc you mean rip off Meshuggah lmao
Ahem... OBZEN
That’s what I thought, but then discovered CellDweller.
I absolutely adored your Hades meets Doom video. Really validating to know someone out there is as curious about recreating effects and plugins. Keep going man! Amazing stuff
Thank you!!
Just found this video and was excited to binge all your tutorials. Until I found out this is almost all of them already!
This video was fantastic and I’d really love to hear more from you and your process!!
The madman, he did it again!
Most underrated producer on youtube. Super skilled, dude.
Dang that means a lot thank you!!
Dude the demo song sounds amazing, it sounds like the perfect song for the second part of the doom eternal DLC
7:43 wait that is way too good and cool for this dumb idea of adding a legit chainsaw xDD
😁😎
thats actually what mick gordon did for the doom soundtrack lol
I am a simple man I see Mick Gordon I click
7:13 Mick did a GDC talk where he said he used (I believe) Zynaptiq Morph. He used the VST to cross-morph between the original chainsaw sound and the guitar he was using.
This is awesome! Would love a video on your amp / processing setup to get that sick guitar tone.
Play Silver for Monsters.
DO IT
Such a good track (and game!)
"I want to be a game music composer and professional audio engineer... but I have a lot of work to do."
Mate you're already there and you're going to be huge
It’s crazy how people are still explaining OTT makes me happy to know that there are still people learning :)
Damn you got me at the OTT Joke. You really have good cuts and a good pacing in your Videos and also thanks for the Rack :D!
Hell yeah someone appreciated that joke I’m pumped. You got it! Thanks a bunch!
took me a sec ngl
it's not even how to "sound like" Mick Gordon, this is how to BE Mick Gordon.
Love the shout outs to all of the Dubstep / Bass Music producers who honed these processes in throughout their career as well.
Really like this format!! Complex enough and dives sufficiently deep, but still light and entertaining for any skill level. Super cool
Your videos are very impressive. I love sound design and how sound/plugins and all that stuff works together and it’s been very surprising to learn how much went into the creation of how dooms sounds were created. I’d love to start learning myself as I have a deep love for music and technical sound design.
This is great! For anyone interested, this can be recreated in FL Studio by using Maximus, selecting the "Simple 1 Band Limiter" preset, and dragging the green line until it's completely flat. This remaps all decibel levels to 0dB.
That was exactly my thought as I was watching this video, great to hear it confirmed working :)
Brother, you are an absolute legend. I can't believe you only have 100k subs after the amount of sheer testosterone and quality content you put into your art. The music you make has helped me get through some tough times. Subbed today, been a listener for a while now. I hope you keep it up, because I am genuinely excited for any new song by you! Also, super glad your music is getting over to Spotify!!! Beautiful work.
Mick Gordon if you're reading this, I love you too man. Absolute legend to do what you do too! I hope the two of you collab one day at least for one song. That'd be a dream come true
Thank you for the kind words 😊 🙏
Mate that end result is incredible, great job!
Damn, you sure were able to grasp the overall sound of Mick's soundtrack and style, really good man, kudos to you! That's a pretty cool use of compressors I wouldn't have thought of. I guess maybe stacking compressors like that is used more in electronic music and I have more experience mixing acoustic and rock so I guess they're pretty different worlds from what I can see. Very informative! I'll subscribe!
this was my first video by you, amazing. educational, entertaining, not too long for my adhd. keep it up!
Could you make a full version of your demo song it sounded really good or at least like extend it a bit
In the end we can all thank Meshuggah for the inspiration to this genre and sound. 😉 Great video and awesome track! 🌞
The more I discover music theory stuff, different types of genre- just things related to music, the more I want to take a real shot at this sorta stuff.
Love your videos man, keep it up! Even if I know literally next to nothing about the technical side of things.
Thanks! You should jump into it! It’s a lot of fun
Holy CRAP!!!! That is so freaking awesome well done! When I watched mick gordon last year with that doom compressor i was like damn yeah I need that thing and so YOU ARE MY HERO THANK YOU!!!
I have no words. Really good work, bro. Thanks for sharing it with us!
Always refreshing finding high quality RUclipsrs :D
Such a good demonstration of what is possible with the Ableton stock effects.
Loving this channel!
This is really fun. Great video!
Man your vids are incredible
Loving this kind of content
The demo track is so cool! It just goes to show how much atmospheric elements can influence a song and make it stand out so much more.
Thank you for sharing these devices!
wow! demo was awesome man, sounded like Meathook but also sounded original. great work! So cool you followed up with your last video
damn dude, you did it!!! not that i'm surprised, of course 😎 i'm continually impressed by your ability to take things to the next level. your talent and dedication are second to none. keep up the amazing work!!
I appreciate it and I appreciate you!!
Keep up the great work, man. Loving your content.
Thank you! 🙏
Absolutely Beautiful
So sick, thank you!
Would love to get my hands on that "Doom Machine" stack for Ableton from the Hades/Doom video ;) This is great content. Subscribed and looking forward to more!
I probably won't make a video but shoot me an email and I'll break it down in detail for you!
@@GeoffPlaysGuitar hopefully it uses all free plugins and can be translated over to reaper somehow so I can use it 😂
Amazing job!
Amazing! Thanks!
Could you please make an extended version of 8:05. This would be amazing to jam out to for more than the minute it's featured.
Thank you very much! I downloaded it and'll try it out for my newest production. THUMBS UP
keep on your music video :D the madlad we all needed
Great depth in your info! This feeds the *doom* inside of my sound design brain
Niiiiice! Thanks for that, excited to try that out! :D
Also I neeed to try that chainsaw idea, love that man!
inverse gate is also called a ducker
quack quack
Already got this thing on speeddial in my LES dropdown menu.
Guess i'm going on a mick gordon inspired adventure of my own... on a normal 6 string strat...
I really like that you list the gear used in the discription! helps to know i got most of the ingredients and now just need to git gud.
Best of luck! I bet you'll make something dope
I'm not even a sound engineer or use any of those softwares. I'm only an amateur musician and I still enjoy this videos so much. Keep it up man!
Died at LET'S PLAGIARIZE
Truly deserved the sub, friend!
It’s gorgeous
This is great!
Pretty impressive song you made there! Thumbsup
Idea: Remix The OG Doom Music To Make It Sound Like Doom Eternal
this is pretty sick! i built Mick's DOOM 'instrument' in DAW and wasn't able to get as much compression (without distortion) but it sounded pretty cool so i just rolled with it haha. Your chainsaw/guitar combo sounds super spot on too!
That sounds dirty! Looking forward to more doom style game tracks
I love you. And thank you for including the presets!!!
This is sick!
Wow, really good :D
Enough to give me goosebumps. Not many people can manage to do that!
Doom compressor on a pluck with reverb is like something Blade Runner ost would have
dope work
Love the labeling of those compressors on the right
Sounds like it came straight out of the DLC, awesome job!
The algorithm hath blessed me again. Great job! The track is bruuuuuutal.
ohhhhhh my god.. I was just sat there for like the whole second half of the video with a shit-eating grin on my face. I'm... in awe
Hey my man thanks a lot for sharing the presets its gonna be a fun morning :D
You're an inspiration my dude!
6:30 Yo dudes the empire is pretty chill
context: Imperial March as sub bass.
Subbed for the meme energy and actual super helpful information
AWESOME!
Goddamn. That final mix was absolutely brutal. Love the fast attack and release of the compression. I don't know how you managed to keep the drums so punchy when everything was so compressed. Bloody good work mate.
Thanks! That’s cause I didn’t put the doom compressor on the mastering chain 😉 it’s a great sound design tool, but not good for mixing
@@GeoffPlaysGuitar I see! Well whatever EQing or sidechaining you did was spot on!
Great stuff..So many hacks in Ableton, always learning new ways. 8:25 onwards nice dark intro vibes🤘
Love your work, i've downloaded the tasty version and i'm going to have fun creating angsty drones :)
Yesssssss 💪
Bro, you're a legend.
As someone whos learning audio stuff in general this is so cool!
Thank you so much
Amazing
brilliant!
Thank you!
As much as I respect Andrew Hullshut, I think your sound design is way closer to continuing Mick's legacy of DOOM soundtrack.
Imo, Andrew is more straight out metal, when Mick adds more crazy electronic experiments. So it was quite fresh to hear his music in the DLC's. I love both of them, Andrew's sountrack to Dusk kicks ass.
Deserves way more than 10K subs
I am a programmer, not a DAW specialist but I immediately forwarded it to one - and god do I hope he uses Ableton now. xD
Still gonna give you a like, even if I didn't download it. This is so much fun to listen to! ^.^
Didn't understand one thing you said, but man is it cool. Good job.
This is the second video I've seen from you. Death metal singer here. Your Doom and Hades videos made me subscribe.
I think you are sick with genius.
WE NEED MORE VIDEOS LIKE THIS!!1!
Perfect
Nice ! pretty sure the original concept can be ported to REAPER JSFX format quite easily as well. PS: Damn, the demo song is aweosme ! First time I see someone succeed to chainsaw trick!
EDIT: done! by sai'ke! You can use it in anydaw using Reaplug ReaJS!
7:31 that raw guitar tone 🤤
You are a genius,
thank you
