The Watchmen (I know it sounds elitist, but in this case, the book really is better) and Sandman are the best graphic novels I've read so far. I'm just starting Preacher
Wow, going from Watchmen and Sandman to Priest is like going from chocolate to diarrhea in 0.3 seconds. It's nothing but gore-fetish porn sprinkled with religious satire, instead of the other way around. Beats me why the fuck Garth "Edgelord" Ennis keeps getting work.
The thing I love about The Watchmen is how it’s meaning goes over the heads of most Americans and that _that_ is kind of the point of it… all you have to do is drape the bad guys in the American flag and you’ll excuse anything they do.
God is so annoying people thinking the Watchmen has some "deep" meaning to it. When it really doesn't, and if you think that is deep than holy fuck you haven't seen many movies in your life.
Dr. Manhattan from the HBO series also started as like a German white guy, then turned himself into a black man to be with that girl. Then sacrifices himself & puts his powers into an egg. It was very weird

The boys is amazing. Joe should check this show out.
Love how Joe hates on Dr Manhattan in the series but clearly hasn’t watched enough of it to know that he is Blue, shredded and a giant BBC lmao 🤣
Joe: Watchman is fkd up. C.K.: Good writing...especially the series. Me: What does the series have to do with Moore's good writing.
@Ladiesman1447 Why is there a racial focus?
@Ladiesman1447 Hmmm, a book released in 1986, with the theme of possible global annihilation via nuclear war running through it. Maybe nuclear annihilation via Cold War was a hoax. This can be gleaned from the story. Yeah, the idea that dude used lies about the police, and half of the voting public to fuel his 'remix' makes sense.
1:05 supermans alter ego was talked about in the final act of Kill Bill 2 almost exactly as you are describing it.
You didn't read about it brah, you just remember liking that part of the movie
Superman was first written in the 1930s, so I wouldn't be surprised if Quentin Tarantino wasn't the first to think about that. Furthermore, Tarantino liberaly borrows from other sources.
Kill Bill isn’t the only thing to dissect Superman, tool.
@@ALWAYSTHINK4YOURSELF as do ALL good stories
@@DeathbatOfSpades I like what you said there, and I like the fact that you called him a tool, for he is in fact a tool
Glad Joe recovered so quickly ❤️
Joe is actually the guy that picks apart the movie’s realism.
The reason they work so well in movies is they are character driven story's and those almost always work best
It's been a while since I read a Superman comic but I was always under the impression that he was Clark first and Superman second. He embraced his new home, new mother and father and his human identity.
It's pretty much the opposite when you're talking about Batman/Bruce Wayne.
Eh, you have to imagine if you grew up as a kid but later found a spaceship and learned you were an alien. You can't just "be Clark Kent" anymore. It just wouldn't work.
The second time that I watched Snyder's Watchmen after reading the novel a few times it changed my life and gave me a new appreciation for so many different things that I could'nt imagine not having in my life now
I saw it in theaters and it blew me away
Such a good book.
And a good movie in my opinion.
@@jraykotheanomaly2365 Me too, I'll never forget the Mars scene in IMAX!
I never would’ve guessed Watchmen would spawn one of the best JRE clips😂

Joe claims to be comic book fan, but apparently likes nothing comic book related 🤔
Sometimes Joe comes across like more than average intelligent person; other times, like an uneducated meathead, unable to dig a little deeper, look a little closer.
How has Joe Rogan not seen The Boys.
One of the most insane takes on superheros of all time.
People still don't give comics enough credit. What's not to like about comics?
Here in my mid 30s I'm finding myself so in love with video games again. There's so much artistry and storytelling that is next level and so immersive. My girlfriend enjoys them as well so it makes it even more enjoyable.
All I can say is that I hope they make a BrightBurn 2 with him being an adult.
they have to... it would be fucking wicked... Gunn is a master
I thought that too immediately after finishing it. What happens next, after the film's ending would be far more interesting than the film itself, I too hope for a sequel
For me comic books are modern mythology and they are finally getting comfortable including the mythological aspects in the movies.
Exactly. It's western folklore
do you know the definition of mythology? comic books are pure fantasy.. mythology is loosely based on real world events and cosmology
@@xXTopGXx hahaha hahahaha

I love Joe's description of Doctor Manhattan. LMAO. "Super jacked with a huge dick." Still laughing.
Now, I’m a comic book nerd, but I don’t expect everyone to care about them. Joe’s views on them are completely fine. Listening to him talk about Dr. Manhattan is hilarious. No telling what he would have thought if he had finished the HBO show, though I can see him laughing his ass off at the Dr. giving his “egg” to transfer his powers. LMAO 🤣
Saying that all superhero movies are junk food is very brave for someone who seems to have entirely missed the point of Watchmen.
He didn't miss the point. 🙄If I had a nickel for every time some fanboy claims someone 'missed the point' of Watchmen...
Zack Snyder explores a lot of these themes in his movies
I recently rewatched Watchmen because I hadn’t seen it in a few years. I forgot how well done that movie was
The Watchmen (I know it sounds elitist, but in this case, the book really is better) and Sandman are the best graphic novels I've read so far.
I'm just starting Preacher
You’re on a good path
Hell yeah great choices. Preachers good but not on the level of those 2. Check out 100 Bullets
Check out Kingdom Come when you get a chance..
I like how you’re not being a prick about your opinion. Manga elitists on the other hand….
Batman is the best series of superhero movies. Don’t @ me…
I agree, George Clooney's Batman is the best one
I used to watch 4 episodes a week.
This is the 3rd snippet I saw since the move to Spotify. Did I miss out? Any episodes I should check?
I think you should watch certain ones like Dave chappelle or Tarantino
What mic stand is that?
The thing I love about The Watchmen is how it’s meaning goes over the heads of most Americans and that _that_ is kind of the point of it… all you have to do is drape the bad guys in the American flag and you’ll excuse anything they do.
God is so annoying people thinking the Watchmen has some "deep" meaning to it. When it really doesn't, and if you think that is deep than holy fuck you haven't seen many movies in your life.
Tell us more about how that fits your personal victim narrative.
Joe Rogan I'm telling you. You need to watch The Boyz. It's as good as Watchmen.

Its isnt. Not even close
Chins trying to dodge and Joe is just laying it out lmao. This is peak Joe Rogan. Unfiltered
You can look up anything and Joe has a conversation with an expert on the subject. Thats why hes numero uno!
Dr. Manhattan from the HBO series also started as like a German white guy, then turned himself into a black man to be with that girl. Then sacrifices himself & puts his powers into an egg. It was very weird
Best comic book film, Watchmen.
@Not RickRoll👇 what an honor
Watchmen Logan and Civil War.
Superman grew up on Earth. He grew up as human and as such his real personality is Clark Kent. I don’t care about the psychology or how relevant it is I’m just upset people keep misunderstanding the fundamental nature of a comic book character (which is stupid I know)
Watchmen easily my favorite comic movie they did such a good job
My twin brother invited me to the imax premiere of watchmen in Nashville opening day...I thought it wouldn't be good and skipped out... biggest regret to this day
What’s to regret? It sucks as a movie
Dudeeeee! Goddammit that woulda been such a cool movie experience
If that's your biggest regret, I wish I had your life.
The director's cut is better
Im over here still hopeful on a bright burn sequel 😭
Spotify does not show Joe videos and when I try to upgrade to watch them, the payment methods that works for music differs from his show, it only lists american states, no other options in my country, but yeah 100m , I totally understand, and I will always be happy for you joe.
Fun fact. Dr Manhattan was played by Greg Plitt, the famous fitness model who was hit and killed by a train about 5 years ago.
Wait, so they talk about how you just need to accept comic book movies for what they are, but then Joe didn't accept Watchmen for what it is AND just totally got the entire story wrong. The fucking irony.
I know right? He makes a terrible 🤓 nerd

My second favorite scene is when Doctor Manhattan is on the talk show.

Absolutely loved Watchmen, damn good movie
When Joe unintrntentionally humbles himself by talking about, movies, music, video games. He's too busy too ever have the time it takes to immerse yourself in those worlds.
I disagree. Just because you don't watch EVERYTHING on Netflix or game out for 12 hours at a time does NOT mean you cannot become emersed in the mediums. Shows/movies/games are at the height of realism more so than ever. You can play a game or watch a movie for an hour and a half and take quite a lot from the experience
This is probably the most dumbed down breakdown of superhero movies “they’re just fun” 🤦♂️ “yeah it’s junk food” Jordan Peterson literally says the reason why we’re drawn to those characters and any real fan of comics knows why we’re drawn to those characters it’s not just fantasy it hits deep because we all want to be the hero to our own story these characters are the gods we look up at and want to be

I agree there. DC animation is far superior. I just can't stand any of that franchise's characters.
So.... I'm reduced to watching Marvel's. Lol
When i see these i know theres a new episode on spotify
I remember hearing about Watchmen and thinking it was a movie about people who make watches... *Boy was I wrong* 🤦♂️
Well, Dr. Manhattan did make watches as a kid before his dad pressured him to study physics. So….
I feel like this guy could read the menu at McDonalds and go "this is really well written".
@Ladiesman1447 Hate to break it to you but the emmys and oscars only give out awards to things that score lots of SJW points, Hollywood has all but abandoned good writers and instead religiously push "the message", story be damned.
@Ladiesman1447 The Emmy's, Oscars, and critics have thrown good storytelling out the window in favor of woke politics to push an agenda. Blatant story issues, plot holes, bad dialogue and more are more than welcome in hollywood today, as long as you push the message. If you dont have a problem with that, then yes your opinion is trash.
Doomsday clock is freaking awesome. It's basically a sequel to the original watchman graphic novel. Anyone who likes dark themes read that.
Blade, Spider-Man 2, Iron Man, The Dark Knight, Watchmen, Winter Soldier, Civil War, Logan, Infinity War, Endgame, Joker. Definitely not just junk food, GOOD CINEMA!!!

He made a few quotes "Make 'something something' great again", his ties to white supremacists, among other things. It was subtle, but it's there. The writers can't help themselves. His character was too easy to pass up, they reference bad orange man. Still entertaining show, but I dont want that crap.
Watchmen cable series took me a few episodes to get into... I really didn't like the first 3 episodes.. Then the series finds itself in the fourth episode and becomes really interesting.. Tim Blake Nelson does a great job. Episode 5, maybe 6(?) is pretty much his story and is pretty funny too.
The show is an acquired taste for sure. You can tell Rogan just stumbled onto a random episode for a few minutes and didn't start the series from the beginning..
