What really sucks about the withdrawal is that while I’ve long wanted our troops to leave Afghanistan it’s terrible that it happened this way. We stayed there for way too long I imagine because we didn’t want to admit to failure of our mission when we first decided to occupy the country. I think it was fairly clear for most that this nation was never going to be one that would adopt American beliefs in terms of democracy and the like. But what truly sucks with this is that after spending 20 years there, spending countless dollars because of it, and troops losing their lives it ends up essentially being all for nothing. The minute we left it immediately reverted back to what it was before we ever came. So the harsh reality sets in that we spent 20 years over there with basically nothing to show for all it cost in the way of human life and money.
I agree with you that the most heartbreaking aspect of all this are the troops that needlessly lost their lives, being that those same people had the pride and confidence that they were defending one of the most beautiful systems in the world. That truly breaks my heart, because LOTS of people made LOTS of money off of those deaths. And trust me.. LOTS of those same people never wanted us to leave at all.
We literally were in a support role with a total of 2,500 troops in Afghanistan. That is less than we currently have in Germany, Korea, Japan… and I’m talking less by a long shot we have scores of thousands of troops in each of those locations. We were no longer in combat in Afghanistan & should have stayed in a support role at least long enough to get our people & our stuff out. We really could have stayed indefinitely but limited the number of troops involved in any operations - provide intel to afghan army & otherwise not be involved much… instead we threw away 8 trillion dollars worth & blood to try to meet a deadline set by Biden. I’m not saying going in for as long as we did in the first place was even a good idea, but that withdraw was so botched it isn’t funny - and to this day, no one has taken responsibility for the utter failure it was.

@@botgod6264 To amend your comment, allow the Taliban to run it again. So no matter how people want to try and spin anything positive out of a 20 year war, in the end, nothing changed for the better. What he’s not telling you is that we should have gotten out of Afghanistan a decade ago.
We have 150k troops between Korea, Japan, and Germany alone - for decades prior to 9/11 to begin with. Those are modern first world countries who are not at risk of being overrun by a radical military force, perhaps with the exception of North Korea which is held by china’s leash in the first place. I’m not arguing that we should be in the business of nation building forever, but we should have at least recognized that we didn’t suffer any US KIAs in a year and a half, and being in an advisory role isn’t exactly a terrible thing for us. If we were to really pull out, it makes a hell of a lot more sense to anyone anywhere that we have to get our people out first. Relinquishing several strategic air bases and leaving without a trace while there were 100s of thousands of US citizens, contractors, troops, and allies that are left to be murdered by the taliban is atrocious. I can answer his question about why all the "light gear" as he called it was left. They simply wanted out as fast as possible, and in doing so they got rid of all the specific personnel whose job it was to move that equipment back in May/June. I worked in the weapons shop at Bagram as a contractor and one of the roles our building played was housing small arms that were going to be shipped back to the US, specifically Theater-Provided Equipment (TPE) and contractor weapons. They had to go through customs and put in crates in order to be shipped back, and our building was the only one on Bagram that met security requirements for overnight storage. Our shop was ordered to close in the middle of May, as we were given plane tickets to leave at the beginning of June. The rest of my company pulled out a week later. So any contractor or Army unit that missed the deadline, whether it be because of incompetence, ignorance, or because they had mission requirements that kept them from being able to turn their weapons in until after the deadline, was out of luck. Funker 530 has a video of contractor AKs being left at the PAX terminal at HKIA, because what choice did they have? Destroy them? Anyone with the tools or know-how was already gone. I wouldn't be surprised if they were given orders to keep their weapons up until the day of their flight, so it's not like they had enough time, either. Essentially, the pullout was a shit show not only because of decisions at the top, but a lot of decisions at the middle got made without any cross-communication whatsoever.
My buddy was in charge of retrieving and cleaning slot of the bases that were abandoned by us since like 2015. He said they don't pay to ship most of the fire arms back. We just sell them locally. Which is easy to believe. He once told me he saw a crate full of unmarked glocks ready to go. A crate just stacked full.

@@sopranosfan11 So you just wanted affirmations of your beliefs not actual facts which are actually pretty fucking grey
He worked high in the government.. They are all trained to talk big words and not mean anything by them. Thats how the government has been to the public day 1. He just sounds like anyone else connected to our gov
You're mad he didn't say what YOU WANTED to hear.
This country is absolutely falling apart...
Which one?
Thats what happens when you screw over the world and export pain and death to everyone else. It catches up to you.
Be thankful you’re not in the people’s republic of canadaz
I’m with Jesse Ventura, let’s leave these nations alone!
too late
@@ProphaneSnipes for next time then. Enough nation building
Right, just attack the country that hosted terror 911 attack. Which country was that again?
@@Nill757 they should of attacked their own internal infiltrators, or invade Israel or Saudia Arabia than
@@ProphaneSnipes Yes in the comic books the Afghans should have kicked out Bin Laden and crew, or given him up when demanded. In reality, that didn’t happen. So, men that can fight needed to go stop them, and where they were was in Afghanistan.
FIND OUT if Jamie knows what a fiefdom is by joining Spotify.
Yeah...not happening
CIA: Have Mike Baker on your show!
JOE: Is he into mixed martial arts?
Since leaving RUclips and moving to Spotify I only listen now and again (20% of what I used to). It's a real shame. It wasn't just the content, but the comments too.
It's cool ..you're probably smarter from listening to Joe less....
@@preciouspuppies9687 don’t agree. Some of his guests opened new worlds for me.
Yea it's a little more of a hassle but I never listened to the whole thing only clips I want to hear about anyway
It's not with it, if this is the crap you get.
Feel like I just did PT with all the run around I just got lol he said literally nothing haha.
Every time he's on. Same shit
Have you seen the video
Elon Musk meets Post Malone
It’s hilarious!! 👽 😂
He is saying the arms service committee was briefed on the process of Afghan but then act like they don’t know any thing around 2:20
so many people crying about this guy, he has great insights, of course he isn't going to spill CIA secrets but he still has some good takes.
This is a land of conspiracy theorists and the first rule to being a conspiracy theorist is to make sure you say “CIA bad” any chance you get
"Settle down there Rogan, you're making the people question too many narratives again."
Would have been nice to see what "Mike Baker" had to say about the assassination attempt on Julian Assange.
i am sure he would have a good excuse on what that was a good idea. this guy was and is C.I.A. once an hammer, always and hammer. and to all hammers, all problems look like nails.
What assassination attempt?
The spotify employees LOVE mike. Best guest EVER!!!
I'm from Afghanistan, and the afghan army was told not to fight taliban. The ones that wanted to fight, their weapons were taken away.
He gets 14 minute clips and Bert gets 3 min clips? 🤣
So glad people are seeing straight through this guy. This guy tryin to tell us that the Generals have our best interests at heart lmaooo
The Generals never planned to leave, they always thought they could change Biden's mind like they did with Trump. And they left so many weapons to ensure future conflicts and potential interventions
@@Siteus1 we don't need that "threat" to go to war. We made shit up to invade and destroy an entire country.
The Generals sabotaged the withdrawal
@@mtnman1984 they kind of destroy themselves and I'm not advocating for war but the withdrawal was an alarming failure
@@viciousmagician4567 it would never be anything else. This occupation was "for the fuck of it" since 2008. The agreement under Trump was trash. The drawdown under Trump and Biden was trash. The airlift was trash. Mr. CIA is right though. Congress knows exactly what happened. Their buddies at Lockheed and Raytheon were getting paid.
"Giving more responsibility to contractors" lmfao okay.
The amount of people that don't understand someone that isn't on either side but in the middle and not judgmental
