A lot of xqc's relationships on stream have a caretaker/dependent feel. He's probably scared to move on to an extent, so he goes back to what's comfortable for him. If he's dating he's probably scared people will be out for his money, so he's looking for a caretaker + girlfriend that's also not after his money. It's pretty hard to find someone like that.
Also the main reason for their breakup was his family, and that he chose not to stand up for her when his family was verbally attacking her. One of the main reasons he was in Canada was because he had a gambling sponsorship deal with Stake, and online casinos are illegal in U.S., but it's legal in Canada. Twitch is banning gambling after this month, so his main reason for being in Canada is gone now.
He'll probably move back to the states soon, so he's going to be 1000 miles away from his family. So if he doesn't have to see his family regularly, he probably thinks he can get back with her again.
It's weird though, since his family still doesn't like Adept, and it doesn't seem like that's changing. On Adept's side she was upset that he didn't stand up for her while his family was verbally attacking her, and that doesn't seem like it's changing either. They're kicking the problems down the road.
