Upspeak or uptalk is basically when a person uses a rising inflection at the end of a sentence. This rising intonation at the end of the sentence makes a statement sound like a question. This way of speaking has been around for donkeys years, okay maybe less so in certain parts of the UK, but it’s definitely a staple in the US and Australia. In fact I think Australia even invented it. Essentially, it’s a way of making yourself sound agreeable and therefore likeable and can endear you to some people, which is obviously an invaluable tool to use if you’re a people pleaser. However, on the flip-side, much like with accents and mannerisms, a person can end up mirroring someone else’s unintentionally.

The changing accent thing is interesting. My uncle moved here from Ireland to London in his early 20's, he is almost 70 now and still has a thick Irish accent. There's not a hint of London in it. My brother moved to Manchester about 10 years ago and when he comes home, I can hear the Manchester in his accent. The funniest was one of the lads going to America on a J1 for 6 months and came home speaking like an American. Not just a hint of American, but 100% American accent. Anyways, great podcast! Are you going to get back to doing episodes?

Cracking up at the Southbank jogger comment. So true 😂 I work in the City occasionally and same thing, why have you chosen to go for a jog here next to Bank station.. With headphones in and zero awareness of what's going on around them.. 🙃
I live round the corner from The Grove hotel and can confirm they are very snooty,however they’d act VERY differently if they knew you were a famous actor as they have a lot there regularly. Walk round with your headshot taped to your back next time and you’ll be sweet!😂
Who shaves their head in a sauna?? 😂 I find it annoying when I'm in the sauna and then one person talks about the obvious weather, THEN ANOTHER person comes in and they ask about the weather, and it keeps happening 😂🤦🏽♂️ I can't help but fart when I'm nervous, especially if it's a big scene 😂
