- Smiler Rag composed by Percy Wenrich, published 1907. My version interpreted loosely from the playing of Fred Van Eps and other recordings I’ve heard.

I played it too fast
You can definitely hear the beginnings of rag time and jazz in that tune. Always a treat to hear your exceptional playing.
Fred Van Eps is proudly smiling down at you from Heaven.
Really excellent. Thanks for sharing. Happy Holidays.
Man, you are fun to listen to and watch. You’ve got a unique musical and visual thing going on there. The music is great all by itself, but your face is naturally expressing the music right along with your hands, and it’s a cool combination. Good stuff.❤
Great job.
👏👏👏Wow! Great job!! (That was real workout)!
Excellent!!! Thanks ❤👍
You rock every style on the banjo seriously so cool
Excellent work!
very cool
Nice
Really well done pal!
Bravo, very nice played. What kind of banjo do you use ? And is it a hide skin head ?
This is a SS Stewart Special Thoroughbred, I changed out the hide head for a frosted
thanks
Crazy good. I watched that 3 times in a row. Do you learn your pieces from tab, ear, notation? I've been trying to get into the classic banjo world too, fiddling with drop C tuning. Been working trying to learn some Charlie Poole tunes. I dig it man.
Yea charlie was my entry into three finger techniques as well, and these days I'm learning primarily from notation and ear shoutout to the youtube playback speed controls, don't like tab for banjo
I appreciate that you can play it fast … but if you played it slower you could introduce so much more into the music like dynamics of soft and loud etc.
Yea I agree, def played this one way too fast. I dont know what I was thinking
Is there anything you can't play?
