I like the guy behind you guys who doesn't seem to care at all or enjoy the ride.
i think hes a ride staff based on what hes wearing, i had a ride staff on oblivion sit next to me on it a few days ago for testing or something like that
I think they're the ride operators - I think they have to ride their coaster at the end of each day
I don't blame him tbh 😂 He may not be super comfortable knowng he was on camera, or as many have stated he may be a ride op and have ridden it so many times he doesn't react anymore
Or maybe he just didn’t enjoy being subjected to two loud persons constantly talking throughout when trying to enjoy the ride
he's probably on like lap 47 on the day lol
I truly believe enthusiasts like you guys are the reason we got Hyperia, this country needs to know how profitable a great ride can be! So many parks just sit with their line ups, we gotta show them we all are hungry for more!!
Fingers crossed for an RMC in the uk at some point
Enthusiasts will always be there. Hyperia was built for the GP after years of nothing
If they listened to us enthusiasts we would have an RMC by now 😅 I mean c'mon!!! I'd take a single rail at this point but a hybrid would be the dream, with their success in Europe and especially the US I'm really surprised we haven't had one as of yet...Especially when Wicker Man has shown that modern wooden rides can be popular. I mean us enthusiasts already knew this but now the GP know too.
IM SO HAPPY TO SEE PEOPLE RIDE THE SMILER IN POV
They did a scare maze before the Smiler was completed and it was a victorian santorium and it was the same "we're here to help" (but not really) theme and as you went through the maze; the smiling got bigger and happier but the 'patients' got worse and worse and more demented!
I've done a few of the scare mazes at Alton Towers, and the theming of The Asylum was by far the best. Especially the warden's animosity towards the Smiler. They should definitely bring that back!
Ahhhh was that the name of that scare maze as it was excellent!
@@adamtrue7691 Just did a quick Google and found out it was actually called The Sanctuary, but it was definitely my favourite
14 inversions in such a compact layout. Just imagine how complicated it probably was to make.
And to incorporate the height restrictions AT has on its rides with the ride also having to fit into the old Black Hole lot.
that second airtime hill is stupidly good lmao
It's wicked, launches you out of the seat completely! You pick up so much speed coming out of the cobra roll which causes you to get some insane ejector airtime over that hill. Genuinely my favourite part of the ride!
@@JuicySBEyeah same I think it pulls over -1g it’s very strong
It would be good if the restraints weren't so uncomfortable, maybe I'm too tall they always dig into my shoulders and it's super uncomfortable. I wish this ride only had lap bars
the restraints ruin it for me, they always dig into my leg and I get stapled
So many UK videos… I LOVE it
What I love about this ride which isn't talked about much is the amount of space and room you get in the train! Your not squashed together like other rides!
Babe wake up Coaster Studios are at your local park😍
It's starting a repaint at the moment which we are all so thankful for, it's one of the most famous rides in the UK for better or for worse.
Smile. Always.
This was my favorite ride as a kid and I'd never even been to the UK. The concept, the theming, the story, it was all super cool. I loved it so much.
how can it be ur fav if u have never ridden it
@@crispy7274 The concept, POVs
@@Deadsphere i guess but instead u could say u really wanted to go on it or something cuz like i could say the same for toutatis at parc asterix but it cant be my favourite if i havent ridden it yet
The story 💀
14 is crazy! This ride looks awesome!!!
I’ve done it before, trust me it really is…
It is, I’ve done it before and it’s so good
I have such a love hate relationship with the Smiler, it’s rough but has a unique concept.
Smiler is definitely next up on my wish list with Nemesis reborn. I just hope we can get something to the level of these rides soon in the future - an RMC in the UK would be absolutely incredible.
im obsessed with this ride. i cosplay the uniform when i go. i go and only ride smiler all day. i only wear smiler merch. i even have the logo as a tattoo
Remember the tunnel concept thing 😂😂😂
The washing machine lol
LOVE seeing this ride from my home park (kinda) getting so much love on an international scale ❤❤
That layout is amazed but I am actually more amazed that Sarah can keep her hair looking good after all those inversions without it becoming a complete mess.
This is one of only two rides so far that have had me come off IMMEDIATELY wanting to ride again. Except I can't because you need a break for this coaster 😆
Loved watching you guys ride the smiler❤
The only time I have ridden The Smiler is at night! Absolutely insane.
It was nice to meet you yesterday at Liseberg!
love you guys, the content is amazing, my fav channel
Nice vid! Great POV. One of the rides I would definetely try if I go to Alton Towers in the future. Greetings from Spain.
I love The Smiler, its such a mad coaster! Glad you guys have been able to come over and ride it!!!
the inversions are hypnotic.
i have been a screaming fan of the smiler sence 2012 and think it really is the best coaster. i really wish they brought back the smiler mobile game.
Great to see your on ride reactions! Pray for my glasses whuch are still stuck under that ride somewhere 😂
It definitely makes you smile.
I saw you at Alton towers today and I was so excited 😆
No you didn’t they’re at liseberg
@@LuderitzNo they were at alton towers
@@Luderitz Unless I’m delusional I’m pretty sure they were at towers
@@Hellow41361 hold up sorry you’re right! They WERE at liseberg but they randomly can back to towers! Sorry about that lol
One of my favourite coaster glad to see you back at the park!!
The smiler looks like your cat got to your yarn😂
Truly incredible how much track was squished in here on this ride. What an engineering marvel.
“I’m running out of fingers!”
I’d buy a Coaster Studios shirt featuring that phrase. Make it happen.
I LOVE THE SMILER
I rode it today and holy cow, it's still flipping amazing
The airtime hill in the second half is easily my favourite part
This ride has been very hit-and-miss for me over the years. But get it on a good day in the front row and it’s phenomenal.
I strangely find the first half more intense and my head is alwasy spinning when we get to the vertical lift hill ... But As a whole ride I really love it and ride it every time I visit the park!!
Rode this at the end of April and I found my limit. Waiting at the vertical lift hill my eyes were spinning in different directions. It might be one I skip if I return to Alton Towers in the future, but I can see why many people do like it. The park has a good variety of rides, so missing one isn't a huge problem.
Hope you two got the chance to do one of the track walks while you were there.
He he he haw : The Ride
Wow that's awesome and it looks like so much fun it looks really smooth and a fun ride you guys ride it good Taylor haha you guys are awesome 👍 take care and stay safe and have fun and have a great summer 🏝️
Not as smooth at it looks but its not unbearable
Definitely not smooth and has quite a bit of roughness around the edges...but the layout is still really damn good.
@@A_A610 oh yeah it does look really rough lol 🤣 thanks 👍
@@fishygodni3037 oh okay got you thanks 👍
I want to go there so bad
4:00 this is so funny
i did it 4 times in one day and only had 1 rough ride, 7 rides on nemesis reborn in that same day too
I am from Germany. Youve been there more than I do XD
Wish i chose to go to towers when you were both there!! I have grown up in alton towers in the coaster world!!🎉
The fact this ride never got the lap bar restraints every other infinity coaster has is criminal
It was actually meant to, but alton wanted otsrs💀
To be fair though the OTSRs might have actually prevented even more horrific injuries when it crashed in 2015 compared to if it had lapbars.
I’ve been on the Smiler. 2nd fav behind Hyperia!
My favourite Rollercoaster
Even at 55 I just love the smiler 😊
I always get blessed with the smiler to get front row most if the time I ride it (I've had front row like 6 times or less) and I also have ridden the smiler a total of around 6 - 11 times (I dont count)
I would never ride it because my stomach could never 😭
I got "lucky" and got a chance to do it back to back(with a 5 minute gap) but was still back to back. It was not comfortable on the shoulders. Was fun but needed to be more time between rides. My way of explaining what its like is its a washing machine.
I'll always credit The Smiler with first getting me interested in coasters but it hasn't been a good ride of many years. It's about as smooth as falling down a hill
If I get on the smiler, I will get sick. Great ride, but I don’t go upside down, although I do flying coasters.
The rollercoaster the smile souds like a very smooth coaster judging from what i heard from your video recording sing by sprack a tack 248😀
It's definitely not a smooth ride, but the layout is still good enough to make up for it.
Out of all coaster records, this one seems safest. I think the Smiler kind of proves that going upside down 14 times on a roller coaster isn't really what most people want?
That guy on row 3 seems cool
WOW!
Counting with Taylor and Sarah
damn I've been wanting to see this oh HELL YEAH!!
I was never a huge fan of the smiler and prefer rides like nemesis and oblivion. Last time I rode it the ride closed every 10 minutes making every queue, including ride access and single riders over an hour with some queuing for 3 hours.
I hope to give it another chance next month and will use my fastrack vouchers on it.
Was Gold Rush open when you were here or did it open after you'd left? I love the video - I'm very impressed you got permission to film on ride at the Merlin parks.
Gold Rush was not open when we visited the UK a few weeks ago, but its open now! We plan to ride it very soon :)
Smile always 😁
It's sad that many people who have ever heard of this coaster will most likely recognize or remember it for it's extremely unfortunate accident in 2016.
I'd so love to do that!
Love this!
Will u go to Port aventura this summer? You could ride the new Intamin multi dimensional coaster in the far west area of the park. Incredible theming in queue line & on ride experience. Not very thrilling but has a very creative layout!
not this year
@@CoasterStudios, no worries! Keep up the content bc i love it
The trains looks really old and worn out now... Hope they get new one with lapbars aka Kärnan HansaPark..instead of this otsr old one. Nice video anyway!✌️❤thanks
How did you manage to get a POV? I don't think I've seen anyone else manage to get it approved, even TPWW. Haha.
we had it approved by the park!
@@CoasterStudiosoh thats great, im not actually sure how lenient Alton is with on-ride filming
@@chumley04 Alton Towers and Merlin are very famously not lenient when it comes to on-ride filming so for Coaster Studios to get to do a POV really is something.
They should rename it to The Smeller. Those restraints are gross. Way better ride than I expected though!
Its a toss up between this and icon for my uk number one but I'm riding Hyperia for the 1st time in a week all going well...
Is there a nemesis one coming?
Probably, reckon a vid on it wud need more tike to cook tho
Ah yes, the coaster that became a Tumblr Sexyman
Top of my bucket list. Sad its 5 hours away😢
thats not too bad
@@crispy7274 fair play.
@@Billnyethecoasterguy i went to thorpe park not long ago which is a 5 hour drive away and going again soon
@@crispy7274 yeah I'm a 1 hour drive. Good to see another British coaster enthusiast
5 hours really isn't too bad at all in terms of travelling to get to a theme park. Plenty of people come down to Alton Towers from Scotland for example.
this was my first rollercoaster 6 years ago..
I can’t imagine the sawdust bill for that ride.
I’m sooo sad for you guys that reborn was closed 😢
I do like the smiler but like most of the merlin coasters they give you a headache colossus and saw being the worst for headaches you can only do them once in the day glad you guys enjoyed it
Some people said that Mack‘s Stryker coaster is their take on the gerstlauer Infinity … so I would like to know how the Smiler compares to Voltron in your opinion
I like the smiler but voltron is much better
love it
Fun!!!
honestly that ride was rough!
0:38 it’s Jamie!
thank you for not slandering my beloved smiler in this video too, defo overhated.
Burh smilers restrains need a good refurbishment
its such a shame that most of the theming about "Correction" was removed :(
Since the smiler incident, they changed it permanently, and i wish they kept those themes.
The most notable change is halfway, it no longer says, "Halfway Corrected", nor does it say the Corrected part on the wall signs!
@CodexVR. To be honest that's about it and some audio voice overs, everything marmalisation is still there so really the theme hasn't changed it all
@@tom-ch5ii I guess thats true. But i still wish i could have experienced it with them
They also removed some of the theming on Oblivion in the pre-ride videos about riders not surviving… tbh it’s not surprising that these things have gone considering how horrific the incident was.
I would be so dizzy… 😵💫
Alton Towers is one of the prettiest parks ever. Love smiler. Bit of a kick the testicles though.
State of those restraints 🤮
😮
Have you ridden nemesis reborn yet?
I SAW YOU
I feel like I would get nauseous on this one
Nemesis POV soon???
It was sadly closed when they visited 😔
@Tarantula7Tom they revisited today to ride it
@@blazingaqua9127 I really hope so 🙏
😁😂😆😄😀😃🙂🙃🤣☺️😊😋🤩🤪😵💫🥴😈😸😹
SMILE ALWAYS
Dude I forgot they were in Europe
This vs hypiria in Thorpe park
These are two completely different types of coasters that try to do different things. Not a fair comparison in the slightest.
@@Deadsphere It's a fair comparison because they are two of the most well known coasters in the UK. Hyperia is an excellent coaster with some big crazy elements but is very short, wheras this is very epic but has a pretty janky 12th inversion and can ride quite inconsistently. If you like inversions then the Smiler is for you and has some great airtime hills, but Hyperia is really the big daddy, nice and smooth and really hauls at the back.
It’s it smooth?
Or is it a gurslar
It's inconsistent. Sometimes, it's quite smooth, other than the odd jolty transition and pothole, and other times, it's really shakey.
It’s ok, not glass smooth not Arrow rough
It is a Gerstlauer, and most of the ride is fine. The final 3 inversions are neck killers though
The 12th inversion is always notoriously jolty. The rest of the ride is usually ok, but sometimes if you are unlucky you'll get a car that runs really rough and it feels like shopping trolley going down a flight of stairs.
good lord I’m glad I wasn’t on the ride with you guys. I appreciate what you do, but I would have been so cross id queued for an hour and a half to hear your commentary
